Chapter 413: Chapter 413: She’s Actually Bisexual (Part 1)
"Fiona, no matter what, she is still your older sister. You can’t speak to her in that tone. It’s extremely rude! If others heard you, they would think I haven’t taught you well, that our Chapman Family has no manners!" Noelle Patterson put on the air of a virtuous wife and loving mother, but her words were laced with a thick sense of grievance. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought Nadia Chapman had done something utterly outrageous to her!
"Manners? And Nadia Chapman has them? No matter what, you’re her elder. Look at her attitude toward you! It’s either mockery or sarcasm. Is that how a junior should act toward a senior? Dad, are you just going to let Nadia Chapman bully Mom like this? Aren’t you going to do anything?" Fiona Chapman looked at Justin Chapman, deeply aggrieved. Their double act was brilliant, their coordination seamless. This scene had already played out more times than anyone could count.
"Nadia Chapman, Fiona is right. Even if you’re the boss of two companies, when you come home, you’re still a junior. As a junior, how can you be so rude! Your Miss Patterson doesn’t understand business. You should just listen and let it go. How could you take it seriously? Apologize, now!" Justin Chapman once again placed all the blame on Nadia Chapman.
Although Nadia Chapman no longer dared to expect any so-called fatherly love from Justin Chapman, hearing his words still made her long-numb heart ache faintly. "Fiona Chapman, Noelle Patterson, you two have been performing the same act for over a decade. Aren’t you sick of it? Because even if you aren’t, I’m sick of watching! Mr. Chapman, you only have eyes for this mother and daughter. When have you ever given a thought to me? Fiona Chapman said the three of you are the real family, and I see now that it’s true. I’m the only outsider! All these years, I’ve always been an outsider. Since that’s the case, I won’t impose any longer. I’m moving out today!"
Nadia Chapman put down her chopsticks, left her seat, and walked toward her room. She had anticipated this moment long ago. Back then, however, she still held a trace of attachment to this home. After all, this was where she had her happiest and most wonderful memories, the memories of her mother. All those little moments, the laughter and joy, were strung together into her most beautiful recollections. But things had reached this point; there was no longer any meaning in her staying. ’I’m sure Mom won’t blame me,’ she thought. ’She loved me so much. She would definitely want to see me live a happier, more joyful life!’
The dining table fell silent. Fiona Chapman glanced at Noelle Patterson. Their wish of many years was finally coming true! ’Now, I’m the only young lady of the Chapman Family,’ she thought. ’No one will ever whisper in my ear again about how amazing my sister is. From now on, the Chapman Family is mine!’
But Noelle Patterson wasn’t so optimistic. She saw the hesitation and guilt in Justin Chapman’s eyes. ’No matter what, he’s still Nadia Chapman’s father,’ she thought. ’As a father, he’s bound to feel uneasy watching his own daughter leave home.’
Nadia Chapman didn’t have many belongings to begin with. In this house, she had always been isolated from the other three. As she finally made up her mind, she had a sudden realization: ’I guess when you’re used to being hurt, you build up a resistance.’ Soon, her suitcase was packed. Without a trace of lingering attachment, she pulled her suitcase and walked out the door.
"Nadia Chapman, Fiona is still just a child. Don’t take her words to heart. If you leave, where will you live all by yourself?" Justin Chapman called out, stopping her.
Nadia Chapman stopped. "You call her Fiona, but you call me Nadia Chapman. The difference in intimacy is crystal clear. Fiona Chapman is eighteen years old. She’s not a child anymore; you’ve just always spoiled her. Anyway, you already have a daughter. You haven’t cared about me at all these years, so you don’t need to put on an act now! The three of you can just stay here and continue enjoying your happy family life. My affairs are no concern of yours!"
