Chapter 2726: Chapter 1843: Unsettled Future (After the Rain, the Weather Turns Hot Again)

"Wish you all sweet dreams."

After bringing the survivors to the guestroom, the short-haired woman called out and then turned to leave. Only then did the others snap back to reality, gazing at the guestroom before them, bewildered.

"What’s going on with this place?"

The girl with twin-tailed hair and glasses seemed to have just regained her senses as she looked at the girl beside her in astonishment.

"Teacher, has Alice’s illness really been cured?"

"Indeed, it has."

The female doctor reached out her hand, touching Alice’s forehead and examining her condition.

"At least for now her body temperature is normal, and her consciousness is clear."

"I understand now!"

The twin-tailed girl clapped her hands in realization.

"I’ve seen it on TV, those theatrical religious organizations, they mix things like antipyretics into the water and let you drink it, then they deceive you by saying you’re cured. If you feel unwell again, they’ll say you aren’t devout enough..."

"However, that girl didn’t make us consume anything."

The black-haired girl quietly pointed out the flaw in the twin-tailed girl’s logic.

"She just placed her hand on Alice’s forehead for a while, similar to checking her temperature."

"Uh......"

Facing the black-haired girl’s rebuttal, the twin-tailed girl was momentarily speechless, but soon she turned to look at the girl.

"Alice, how do you feel?"

"Eh? Me?"

Startled by the twin-tailed girl’s query, the little girl hesitated for a moment before obediently replying.

"At that time, I felt my entire body was very hot, dazed, and then... I felt my forehead was cool, icy cold, very comfortable. After that, my body wasn’t as hot, and I didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore..."

"Hmm... what’s happening here?"

"This isn’t important, is it?"

Another girl clearly wasn’t bothered by these details.

"The question is, what do we do next?"

"We don’t have much choice, do we?"

The black-haired girl shrugged.

"That Miss Mikazuki mentioned it, once we enter the Tribunal, we’re not getting out. Now it’s up to them to decide what they’ll make us do."

"........."

When this topic came up, everyone fell into silence. Previously, they didn’t have time to think much, but now they were feeling very uneasy. They weren’t newcomers to shelters, but shelters like the Tribunal were remarkably odd. Typically, shelters were in short supply, with everyone appearing rather fierce, and outsiders weren’t warmly received.

After all, resources are limited, and those people think that one more survivor means one less share of food and water, maybe even medicine. Moreover, since there are a few pretty girls among them, those survivors would look at them with malicious intent.

But the feeling here is different; people seem unconcerned about how much resources they’ll consume and don’t mind their status. This makes them feel at ease, yet it’s abnormal. Before the apocalypse, such was expected, but now with the world like this, that... it’s a bit strange.

Failing to reach any conclusion, the group decided to head back to their rooms for rest, with the rooms split as two-person spaces, totaling three rooms, just enough for six people. More importantly, they could take showers here! Those girls who had been on the run looked forward to a decent hot water bath.

Until finally, at dinner, everyone immersed themselves in long-missed peace and stability. Here, they couldn’t hear the cries of the zombies nearby, making it seem they were simply out traveling.

At dinner time, someone called them to the dining hall. Hungry, they followed the soldier in military attire to the restaurant.

"Really weird......"

Then the chubby guy whispered to those beside him.

"It’s like people here simply don’t care about us."

"What do you mean?"

"Look, at those shelters we went to before, they treated outsiders as serious threats, afraid of us being infected, right?"

"That’s true."

Upon hearing the chubby guy’s words, the twin-tailed girl nodded with displeasure. Previously, they had visited other shelters, but those places were extremely unwelcoming, even requiring them to strip naked for inspection, ensuring they had no wounds before entry. The girls wouldn’t tolerate such humiliation, leaving on the spot.

Coming here, they were prepared for quarantine or inspection, yet the calm attitude here suggested they weren’t altogether worried about them being infected.

As they entered the dining hall, many people were seated, mostly clad in the strange military attire. The survivors had discussed this earlier, and the military enthusiast was confident it wasn’t this country’s uniform, nor had he seen any country’s military uniform like this one. As for using the Double-Headed Eagle and War Hammer as emblems, it’s unheard of.

Thus, the military geek thought it might be a special operations unit, but regarding what exactly the Tribunal is... he didn’t know.

Seeing these young people, the reactions from others were mixed: some smirked at them gleefully, while others shook their heads with silence, leaving them anxious and unsure whether they were welcome or not. Overall, the dining hall’s atmosphere was indeed peculiar.
