Chapter 2727: Chapter 1843: Uneasy Future (Part 2)

The black-haired girl circled the restaurant once and found that the short-haired woman they had met before was sitting nearby, so she led the others over—at least they had met once, making it easier to communicate.

"Miss Sanriyue, can we sit here?"

"Hmm? Of course."

The short-haired woman nodded at the black-haired girl and then chuckled.

"Alright, don’t be nervous, there’s nothing to fear, they’re just... watching a joke."

"Watching a joke?"

Upon hearing the short-haired woman’s words, everyone was momentarily confused. But at this moment, heavy footsteps sounded, followed by a female voice devoid of inflection.

"May I ask what you’d like to eat?"

Upon hearing this sentence, everyone thought the waiter had arrived and turned to look — then they were shocked.

They saw standing at the table next to them was a maid dressed like one from a maid café. However, unlike ordinary maids, most of her face was covered with metal, and where her mouth should have been was just a grill. One of her legs appeared to be mechanical. What was once a reasonably pretty woman now had completely shaved hair, looking terrifyingly like a Terminator.

"Wah!"

"Ah---!"

Seeing this terrifying figure, the survivors were instantly scared to death. The leading boy jumped up straight away, and the military fanatic next to him fell to the ground headfirst. The two girls held each other tightly, while the little girl crawled into the arms of the nearby female doctor in fright. Even the black-haired girl changed color, unsure whether to grab the hilt at her waist, almost drawing her sword.

"YEAH---!"

But at this moment, the whole restaurant broke into cheers. Confused, the group looked around, seeing others in the restaurant raising their hands in celebration.

"See, I told you they’d be scared! Come on, no backing out now!"

"They’re just kids; of course, they’d be scared. What’s the point of betting on that?"

Someone took out a bottle of beer, unhappily placing it on the table.

"But you bet anyway?"

"I thought they were brave. Look at these kids, they’ve survived outside till now; they must have some guts."

"Hahaha, so you lost the bet, eh?"

Watching the others’ joyful expressions, the survivors were dumbfounded and speechless. Nevertheless, they realized it wasn’t an unexpected incident, so they carefully returned to their seats while the short-haired woman snapped her fingers.

"Set meal A."

"Understood."

The Terminator Maid nodded and looked towards the others. As everyone didn’t know what to do, the short-haired woman’s voice sounded again.

"You all should order set meal A too. There isn’t anything else to eat except set meal A now. Her asking was just a programmed routine — gives a sense of normalcy."

"Ah, yes..."

No one was surprised by this. After all, in the apocalypse, food was always a problem. Thus, they reluctantly ordered their meals and watched as the Terminator Maid wobbled to other tables.

"That, what on earth is that?"

The twin-tailed girl finally returned to her senses, looking terrified and uneasy.

"Oh, that’s a Mecha Servant."

The short-haired woman smiled at them, explaining.

"You can consider it a kind of robot, but it’s transformed from humans."

"Transformed from humans?"

This answer shocked everyone further, while the short-haired woman shrugged.

"Yes, they all violated the Tribunal’s rules and became unlucky victims of transformation. Of course, for us, it’s no big deal."

"How can you do such a thing!"

Another girl was evidently frightened.

"This is wrong!"

"Why is it wrong? They violated the Tribunal’s rules, so they naturally deserve punishment."

"But, but turning people into monsters is going too far!"

"Why not? Then how would you propose punishing them?"

"They can be punished..."

"This is the punishment."

"They can be made to work..."

"They’re working right now."

The short-haired woman pointed to the figure of the Mecha Servant.

"Also, they won’t feel anything. Theoretically, they’re already dead. These Mecha Servants are simply a group of walking dead who follow orders, just like that."

"So, what rules did these people break?"

More curious than shocked and angry, the black-haired girl, who had been silent, asked.

The short-haired woman glanced at her and looked away.

"Oh, there are three Mecha Servants now. Let me see..."

As she spoke, the short-haired woman extended a finger.

"The first unlucky soul was among us when we were fleeing. At that time, we met Great Judge. They taught us to fight, and that person didn’t want to fight, but instead threatened Tribunal members with the weapon given by Great Judge, so he was converted into a Mecha Servant."

".........."

"The second was from a group of survivors afterward. He seemed accustomed to bullying others outside and continued even in the Tribunal, trying to attack Miss Alice..."

"Miss Alice?"

"Hmm... Anyway, this fool was naturally converted into a Mecha Servant. FYI, he was no match for Miss Alice; she could flick him to death with her pinky. So naive."

Expressing disdain, the short-haired woman snorted.

"Now he’s assigned to clean the sewers, fitting for him."

"So, what did the lady do?"

Both previous ones were male. The third Mecha Servant was this woman, and compared to the previous two, they couldn’t understand why this woman was converted.

"Oh, it’s quite amusing."

The short-haired woman chuckled.

"She has some looks, perhaps living off them before the catastrophe. Her twisted mind tried to seduce Great Judge but got kicked out. Then she stirred trouble, even attempting to entice others, creating chaos internally. When it was exposed, she was converted into a Mecha Servant."

Snorting, the short-haired woman continued.

"How foolish, daring to cause trouble under Great Judge’s nose, totally ignorant."

".........."

Listening to the short-haired woman’s story, others’ expressions were complex. Just judging from what was heard, the punished all seemed deserved.

But is converting a person into a Mecha Servant warranted?

Isn’t this too... excessive? Although the survivors understood the world was devoid of rules and order, this blatant, naked use of violence left them uncomfortable. However, seeing others’ reactions, they seemed indifferent, appearing used to Mecha Servants.

"You must remember this."

Serious now, the short-haired woman stared at them.

"Don’t challenge Great Judge’s authority in the Tribunal, or you won’t even be able to die."

"......."

Facing the short-haired woman’s warning, everyone swallowed hard.

Now, their future seemed increasingly unsettling.
