Chapter 2248: Chapter 2245: Lake on the Mountain

"Xiao Manxue!" Yan Bei ordered loudly.

Miss stepped forward, politely saying, "Senior Yan, I wish to be with my sister."

Yan Bei said nothing, he just waved his hand, indicating his approval. Miss bowed as a sign of gratitude, then pulled Xiao Manxuan over.

The two stood at the cabin door, with the cold wind blowing their hair wildly, yet even in this chaotic wind, their beauty was not concealed.

Xiao Manxuan turned to look at Lin Tian and smiled, "Lin Tian, see you later."

Having said that, the sisters jumped simultaneously, drawing a graceful arc, disappearing into the sea of clouds. Then followed Ling Shuiyao and others, one by one, leaving only Lin Tian at the end.

Yan Bei didn’t give an immediate order, but instead said, "I heard you’re a pharmacist?"

"That’s right." Lin Tian admitted very straightforwardly, knowing that since Yan Bei asked, he must have heard some rumors.

Yan Bei glanced at Lin Tian, then chuckled, "Haha, not bad, not bad, I’ll be waiting for you at the Medicine King Mansion."

Lin Tian clasped his fists in salutation, then also jumped down. The weightlessness hit instantly as he started free falling.

"Uncle, you seem to like that Lin Tian," the helicopter pilot asked curiously, looking back for the first time.

"Haha, it’s rare to find one like him, I hope he’s selected." Yan Bei smiled slightly, his eyes full of anticipation.

The wind roared past his ears, Lin Tian felt the free fall, like flying, no wonder people say skydiving is addictive. Soaring through the blue sky is indeed everyone’s dream.

The falling speed increased rapidly, as he passed through the sea of clouds, the view suddenly opened up. There were grasslands, forests, and further away were mountains. On the mountains, the midsections were covered in snow, with lush green trees below the snow line.

Standing at the top of the mountain, surveying all the peaks, they all seemed insignificant now. Flying in the vastness of the earth, overlooking the extensive land, mountains, rivers, forests, and grasslands were all visible.

After falling for a while, the speed kept increasing. The air, usually unnoticeable, was creating massive air pressure now. While descending, it felt as if something was lifting him up, which was air resistance.

Lin Tian was most familiar with air resistance, because when he moved at high speed on land, it was even faster than now, with greater air resistance then.

Lin Tian glanced at the altimeter: 2,200 meters, the numbers spinning rapidly: 2,000 meters, 1,800 meters, 1,500 meters...

Compared to the Ghost’s advice of 2,000 meters, Lin Tian didn’t open the parachute until reaching 1,500 meters.

With a loud bang, a huge force yanked his body, pulling upwards strongly. The parachute opened successfully, and Lin Tian felt the speed slow down abruptly, the wind noise decreased, and the world quieted down.

The reason for opening the parachute at 1,500 meters was to land faster. For a beginner, it was a bit dangerous, but Lin Tian was exactly not afraid of danger.

He maneuvered the parachute, gliding slowly. After a while, his feet finally touched the ground, with the parachute spreading out like a blooming rainbow flower at the foot of the mountain—a considerably large "rainbow flower".

Folding the parachute was physically demanding, but luckily Lin Tian was not short of strength. He quickly gathered the parachute and casually discarded it, considering it wasteful and destructive to the beauty of the place.

After clearing things up, Lin Tian started surveying the surroundings. At the foot of a big mountain, the mountain range extended into the distance, while the foot spread out into a grassland.

Thanks to the melting snow of the mountains, this place was lush with water and grass, occasionally seeing herds of yaks passing by.

Lin Tian reached into his backpack, found a piece of paper, took it out, and unfolded it. As expected, it was a "Mountain Terrain Map".

However, upon seeing this map, Lin Tian almost couldn’t help but swear, as it was hand-drawn and sketched like a doodle—elementary school students could draw better than this.

"This is what you call a mountain terrain map." Lin Tian shook the paper, feeling disdainful.

He originally thought it was a satellite terrain map or at least a printed one.

This hand-drawn version exaggeratedly used a wavy line to represent mountains; dots for grasslands; dots for forests. At least depict some grass or a tree for reference, Lin Tian thought with dissatisfaction.

It could only be said that the author of this "Mountain Terrain Map" from the Medicine King Mansion was a Soul Painter; he gave a middle finger in disdain.

On the helicopter, Yan Bei sneezed repeatedly for no apparent reason. The pilot chuckled, "Uncle, those kids are probably cursing the map artist after seeing the terrain map."

Yan Bei pursed his lips indifferently, "I’m still a cultured person, and drawing decently. If they ask the villagers, it wouldn’t be any better than mine, so what’s there to complain about?"

"If you ask me, Yun Tian is probably the only one who can understand that mountain terrain map," the pilot guessed.

"Yun Tian has a military background, seeing more terrain maps than we have secret manuals, shouldn’t be difficult for him, but..." Yan Bei hesitated, leaving his thoughts unspoken.

The pilot filled in, "Are you worried Lin Tian won’t make it out?"

"That kid’s martial arts aren’t bad, but I don’t know about his other abilities. If he can’t even pass this simple test, how will he reach the Medicine King Valley afterward?" Yan Bei shook his head.

"You’re right, Uncle. The Medicine King Valley is deep within the Kunlun Mountain Range. If he can’t overcome this simple obstacle, going there is a death sentence. Sometimes even we can’t withstand the forces of nature," the pilot agreed.

At the foot of the mountain, Lin Tian sneezed too, and he couldn’t help but look up at the sky, muttering to himself, "Could that old man Yan Bei be cursing me?"

"Master, it seems quite cold here," Sword Spirit suddenly interrupted Lin Tian’s thoughts.

"Cold, indeed, but the air is quite nice here compared to the city; cities’ air is really polluted. No wonder the families of Ancient Martial arts live in such scenic spots," Lin Tian said cheerfully.

"How should the master proceed? I’ve followed King Arthur through countless campaigns, east and west, seen many battle maps, but I just can’t make out the direction of this map," Sword Spirit said in frustration.

Without responding, Lin Tian scrutinized the terrain map. There’s a knack to reading maps - finding a distinctive feature to act as a reference point to determine one’s location.

"These dots are grasslands, forests, the ups and downs are peaks, valleys, hmm, what’s this oval shape?" Lin Tian looked along the mountain range and found an oval mark on the terrain map.

"Could it be a lake?" Sword Spirit said, uncertain.

Lin Tian nodded, "Considering the character of this Soul Painter, it’s possible. But why is the lake on the mountains?"

By rights, water sources should be in low areas. If there’s a lake in the grassland, Lin Tian wouldn’t doubt it, but a lake in the mountains seemed odd.

"Heavenly Pond!" Lin Tian suddenly recalled a geographical phenomenon, a type of lake on mountains, called the Heavenly Pond.
