Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 821: Consort Selection
Chapter 821: Chapter 821: Consort Selection
The superior beings possessed an incredibly advanced civilization.
Their technology was far beyond anything humanity had developed, so there should have been no reason for them to use something as primitive as a brick to construct a prison wall.
Yet, hidden within the wall was precisely that. A single brick.
Ivy carefully pulled it loose and took it inside her cell.
Once she had the brick in her hands, she began examining it closely.
The rough surface scratched lightly against her fingertips, and she carefully turned it over, searching for anything unusual.
After seeing what was hidden within it, Ivy suddenly understood why the so-called siblings from her dream had told her that she would be able to escape the prison.
’So this is what they meant.’
Meanwhile, Alex was no longer monitoring the mining area.
Instead, he had made his way toward Rayami’s palace.
The palace itself was enormous, with towering structures rising into the crimson sky.
When Alex arrived, he was not immediately permitted to enter.
Rayami made him wait for four hours before finally allowing him inside.
After entering the palace, Alex approached Rayami and lowered his head respectfully.
"She has been captured."
Rayami paused. Then, a faint chuckle escaped her lips.
"Here I was thinking that she would be a formidable enemy... when in reality she is like an ant who couldn’t fight me at all."
Alex did not move immediately. Instead, he quietly studied Rayami, carefully observing every change in her expression.
Meanwhile, Princess Rayami remained deep in thought before finally speaking.
"Keep an eye on her. She will most likely take action. It is far too suspicious that she was conquered so easily. My own subordinates have already died."
She had already noticed that Tammy and Coco were dead. Nanami had been the betrayer, which was why she had ordered Alex to kill him.
Alex nodded respectfully. "All right."
He waited for a moment before mentioning Nanami, but Rayami immediately waved her hand.
"There is no need to mention him. That traitor is no longer worth discussing. Just deal with his body, and make sure he does not receive a proper burial. He should be burned into ashes, and those ashes should be fed to the three-toothed dogs."
Alex immediately lowered his gaze. "I understand, Princess Rayami."
Rayami paused for a moment before continuing. "What about the other princesses? What are they doing?"
Alex began giving her a report about each princess one by one. When he reached Eugenia and Valeria, he paused briefly before explaining their current situation.
Rayami narrowed her eyes slightly.
"There is no need to worry about them. Both of them are too busy dealing with their mother. They will not have the time to scheme against me."
Hearing that, Alex nodded. Rayami then fell silent for a moment before speaking again.
"All right. Prepare five or six additional options prepared for the princesses during the selection ceremony."
Alex looked confused.
When Rayami mentioned the selection ceremony, she was referring to the consort selection, which was essentially the process of choosing husbands or wives.
Among superior beings, if a man became king, he would hold a consort selection and take multiple consorts. Likewise, if a woman became queen, she would be expected to take multiple husbands.
That was why many of the princesses were already married three or four times.
However, it was not something everyone wanted.
Many kings, queens, princes, and princesses hated this system because they wished to spend their entire lives with only one person.
Superior beings were deeply connected to the concept of soulmates, and some could only feel comfortable when they were with the one person they had chosen.
Yet the council continued demanding more heirs, which meant that many of them were forced to bond and mate with other men or women as well.
Because of this, arguments had broken out numerous times.
Now, however, Rayami was suddenly talking about adding even more husbands to the selection.
’If the number of husbands each princess is expected to take increases, then even Rayami, despite already having someone she loves, would be forced to choose additional partners.’
Alex could not understand why she was bringing this up. Rayami suddenly chuckled, her eyes carrying a strange glimmer.
"Even if Ivy succeed in escaping by some miracle, she will end up falling into this trap."
Alex still did not understand what she meant, but he respectfully nodded. "All right."
Just as he was about to leave, Rayami suddenly stopped him.
"Wait. What about the things I asked you to bring?"
Alex quickly took out several papers, a bottle, and a small bag before placing them carefully in front of Rayami.
Rayami looked at the items and smiled.
"Alex, do you know something? You are truly the smartest person I have ever seen. If you were not this intelligent, you would never have received this position."
She lightly touched the papers before continuing. "I will grant you one wish. Whatever you want from the imperial kitchen, you may ask for it."
Hearing those words, Alex’s eyes immediately brightened. He quickly bowed.
"Thank you so much, Princess. You are truly generous."
With a happy expression on his face, he turned around and walked away.
Rayami watched him leave and rolled her eyes before turning her attention back to the items he had brought.
She first examined the documents, then carefully picked up the bottle. Finally, she opened the bag and inspected what was inside.
After checking everything, a faint smile appeared on her lips.
"Ivy, let’s see whether you can truly survive or not."
Meanwhile, Ivy had finally gathered everything she needed and decided that it was time to strike first.
She began by creating an illusion of herself running away in the hallway.
The illusion was so realistic that it looked exactly like Ivy herself, and as soon as the guards noticed her fleeing, they immediately rushed after her.
Some of them even shouted in panic.
"Damn it! How was she able to escape?"
Ivy took advantage of the chaos and created a wall around herself. She carefully matched its appearance with the surrounding environment, making her body completely camouflaged against it.
The sound of hurried footsteps gradually faded into the distance.
Once Ivy was certain that the guards had gone far enough, she removed the camouflage and looked toward the barred prison cell.
She took a slow breath and quietly closed her eyes.
The next second, a beautiful woman wearing a gradient blue dress appeared in the hallway.
She slowly walked toward the warden who had been ordered to remain behind and monitor the other prison cells, ensuring that none of the prisoners attempted to escape.
The moment the warden, Jiao, saw the woman he had once considered his dream girl, his entire body froze.
A cold sensation spread through him, and his face immediately lost its color.
Meanwhile, the woman, or more precisely, the illusion wearing the beautiful blue dress, stopped in front of him.
"Was it funny? You killed me, and now you are standing here as if nothing happened. Aren’t you being far too arrogant?"
Jiao became completely stunned.
"Wait, I am sorry! I am truly sorry, Zhuer. How about this? I will fulfill my promise to take care of your family. Please, please do not kill me. I was foolish back then."
The woman let out a cold snort before laughing as though she had just heard the most ridiculous joke.
"Only someone as pathetic as you would think that I would believe you after what happened that day. You bastard, you ruined my entire life. Do you truly think I would let you go?"
The next second, the woman’s hand closed around Jiao’s neck.
His eyes widened in terror as he desperately struggled, his hands clawing at her arm while he tried to free himself.
However, Zhuer was far stronger than him, and no matter how desperately he struggled, he could not escape her grasp.
After a short while, Jiao’s body went limp, and he finally lost consciousness.
When Ivy saw what had happened, cold sweat had already gathered along her forehead.
After becoming pregnant through her own abilities, using such a large amount of energy had become considerably more difficult for her. Even creating and maintaining such a powerful illusion left her breathing slightly heavier than before.
Still, she forced herself to remain calm.
She motioned with her hand, and the illusion walked over to the warden’s unconscious body and picked up his key card.
Using the illusion, Ivy unlocked her own prison cell.
As soon as the door opened, Ivy quickly took the card from the illusion and waved her hand.
The next second, the illusion vanished completely.
