Zombie Apocalypse: Creation
Chapter 894: Foreign Students
An hour later.
"You’re telling me, you guys flew from San Diego to Japan, then flew all the way back over here after you found Shanghai was full of zombies?"
Seeing all two hundred and thirty-five people nodding their heads, Xiaoyun was still blown away by their journey.
They were in a hotel lobby, with armed police at every corner, while Li Zhen stood right next to him.
"Some of us are from the East Coast. I personally traveled half of the United States before arriving in San Diego."
As the young man in the front spoke up, it blew Xiaoyun’s mind even more, as the distance was more than anyone had expected.
"All of that to fly back here?"
"Our country needs us."
One of the people within the crowd answered, his chin lifted high while everyone around him rolled their eyes.
"We came here because our family and friends are still here. Most of us missed them too much not to come back."
Xiaoyun immediately understood the group of people in front of him. Especially seeing how 95% of their faces were Asian and looked relatively young.
In other words, they were exchange students studying abroad who managed to fly back to the country two years after the outbreak.
"Well, congratulations on making it back home... I’m sure all of you are tired, so I’m not going to bother you guys for too long.
I’ll have several people come here tomorrow to help you guys around. Please stay in the hotel and enjoy your stay."
Just as Xiaoyun got up from his chair, the man in the front raised a question.
"Wait, sir. We don’t even know your name yet. Can you please let us know so we can repay you in the future?"
"My name is Xiaoyun. But you guys can call me the governor... And don’t thank me. Repaying the country through honest, hard work is more than I can ask for."
Before anyone could speak up, Xiaoyun had left the hotel lobby, leaving Li Zhen and the police officers in the hotel.
"Please stay in the hotel. We need to make sure the quarantine time and conduct basic information sign-ups."
---
When Xiaoyun made it back home, it was already twelve o’clock midnight. The house was already dark.
All of the living room’s lights were off. No one was in the kitchen, nor was there anyone around waiting for him.
"Thank god it’s over..."
As he sat down on the sofa, a face emerged from upstairs. It was Leyan, coming down in her pajamas.
"Xiaoyun! Was everything okay?"
"More than okay. It went better than anyone had expected... Could you believe a group of people traveled the entire ocean to come back home?"
"Ocean? You mean the Pacific Ocean?"
Seeing him nod, Leyan looked just as shocked as Xiaoyun had been earlier. The sheer risk involved felt nearly impossible.
"Ahem, did Houqin go home with her parents?" Xiaoyun asked curiously, not wanting to talk about it any further.
"Yeah, she did."
"I see... Let’s go to bed. I’m getting a little sleepy."
As Xiaoyun let out a loud yawn, the two of them quickly headed upstairs together before Leyan nudged him over to the bathroom door.
"Go take a shower first. You sweated too much."
"Fine."
---
The next day.
"Wake up, Xiaoyun. You have work on Tuesday, don’t you?"
"Work?"
As Xiaoyun slowly opened his eyes, Leyan was once again standing right above him on the bedside.
"I don’t recall having any work."
Seeing him turn over to the other side, she grew a little annoyed as she forcefully lifted the blanket up.
"Your wedding, you idiot."
"I thought that was tomorrow... Let me just sleep in a little more."
"You still have to prepare for it. Don’t forget, this is going to be televised. You really want to go in blind?"
"When did I do things without going in blind?"
"You... Whatever."
Hearing the door close, Xiaoyun finally opened his eyes as he let out a loud yawn. Both his body and mind were still exhausted.
He had only slept for four hours, despite the clock pointing at nine o’clock in the morning already.
No one was on the massive bed besides him, with a dirty bedsheet all around him that indicated what had happened last night.
It was a repeat of what happened the day prior on Sunday, even though he had come back home late.
None of his wives were asleep. All of them were waiting for him in the bathroom as a boobie-trap.
"Fuck, I’m too tired."
Closing his eyes, Xiaoyun lay back down onto the bed. His mind was overtaken by drowsiness as everything faded to black.
An unknown amount of time later...
"Xiaoyun, wake up."
"Hm?"
The noise slowly caused him to open his eyes. To his surprise, it was Wuli in her military uniform.
She even had a pistol still strapped to her waist, her shoulder holding onto her military standard-issue backpack.
"Wuli? Am I still dreaming?"
"What dream? What are you talking about? Why are you sleeping on the sofa?" Wuli questioned.
"Sofa?"
As Xiaoyun opened his eyes fully and looked around, he was lying in the living room despite falling asleep in his bed earlier.
"Did somebody move me—"
"I had to move you to clean the bedsheet. You didn’t notice it until now." A voice answered as she emerged from the kitchen.
"Hey Leyan!"
"Welcome back, Wuli!"
Just as the two of them gave each other a warm hug, Xiaoyun sat up from the sofa as he felt more energetic than ever.
"Why are you all of a sudden back from Shaoguan?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as Wuli separated from Leyan.
"Do I look like I’m going to miss Houqin’s wedding? Relax, I’m using my two-day break next month early for this."
"Sounds like someone is abusing their office."
"Nothing is happening there anyway."
Xiaoyun didn’t question it any further as Leyan started helping Wuli remove her military gear one by one.
"Leyan, what do I need to do for my wedding? You guys planned everything out already, right?"
"Of course we did."
"What do I need to do again, then?" Xiaoyun asked as he finally sat up from the sofa before letting out a small yawn.
"Go wash your face first."
---
Xiaoyun quickly took a shower and got changed. Then he headed down the stairs before seeing both Houqin and Lily sitting on the sofa.
"Where are Leyan and Wuli?"
"They went to the backyard... Xiaoyun, can you sit down for a moment?"
"Sure."
Sitting across from the two, he could see the nervousness on their face as they rested their hands all over the place.
"Ahem, is there something you guys want to talk to me about?"
"It’s about the wedding... Lily, do you want to say it?" Houqin asked as she looked over to her peer.
"I... I will say it."
After ten whole seconds had flown by, Lily finally got the courage to speak up again.
"Xiaoyun I... I want to have a wedding before you go on this trip."
"Why am I not surprised... Ahem, that’s fine as long as the two of you are fine with it." Xiaoyun murmured the first part to himself.
"I-I’m fine with it... Although it does feel a little annoying to share a wedding with someone." Houqin answered.
"Well, it is kind of unavoidable when the trip is so soon... But are you sure, Lily? You have less time to prepare than hers."
"She’s fine. Come on, honey, change into your suit. We need to practice before you get on television."
As Leyan’s voice suddenly appeared from behind, Xiaoyun flinched a little before looking back over at the two of them.
"You two are fine with it? Having a rushed wedding like this together?" Xiaoyun raised his concern as he waited for their answer.
"I’m fine with it..."
"M-Me too."
After seeing both of them agree to it, Xiaoyun let out a small sigh as his plan for the day was now interupted.
Totally not interrupted when he chose to wake up late.
"Give me a second. I need to make an important phone call first... Yuqi, you got the plane report right?"
As Xiaoyun started making a phone call in front of the three, both Houqin and Lily grew curious.
"I need you to send people out to that hotel... Oh, you did that already? Perfect... Yeah, I’m getting ready."
I’m going to go now. See you later, love you... Hm? Okay... I’ll meet with him later myself after the wedding."
"Something wrong?" Leyan asked as they watched Xiaoyun hang up the call with a frown on his face.
"Nothing important. Don’t worry about it... Okay, I’m going to go upstairs to get changed then."
With Xiaoyun heading up the stairs, Wuli soon emerged from the guest hallway with a toddler in her arms.
"Where did Xiaoyun go?"
"Went to go change... Come on, you need to change too." Leyan hurried as she quickly took the toddler out of her arms.
"Me? Why? Isn’t the wedding tomorrow?" Wuli questioned in confusion.
"You need to practice acting with class as part of Chen’s family. Do you want to look like a beggar in front of everyone?"
