Chapter 528: Everything Has Been Arranged

"Miles, I have to go out." Ivy Sherwood was determined to go.

"Where to?"

"The Sherwood Residence. Ruby Sterling said she has some of my mother’s belongings. If I don’t go, she’ll throw them away."

Ivy Sherwood explained the situation to Miles Mercer. "I’ll go with you," he said.

Ivy Sherwood nodded. "Okay."

With Miles Mercer there, Ivy could feel a little more at ease.

Miles was driving, but unexpectedly, halfway there, he received a call from Nina Scott.

"Hello?" Miles answered.

The voice on the other end was a stranger’s. "Hello, are you a friend of Nina Scott? This is the hospital. Your friend had an accident and is currently unconscious. Can you come over?"

The voice was loud enough for even Ivy to hear.

"Nina had an accident?" Ivy grew tense. "Let’s hurry to the hospital!"

Compared to Nina, her mother’s belongings didn’t seem so important.

"But your mother’s things..." Miles Mercer hesitated for a moment.

"Let’s go see Nina first!" Ivy was clearly more worried about her friend.

Miles turned the car around and went straight to the hospital. Nina Scott was undergoing an examination. There didn’t seem to be anything physically wrong with her, but they still had to wait for the results, and she remained unconscious.

Just then, Ruby Sterling called again.

"Ivy Sherwood, why aren’t you here yet? You really don’t want these things, do you?"

Ruby Sterling was pressing her. And while Nina didn’t seem to be in any serious danger, she still needed to be admitted to the hospital to wait for test results and so on.

Ivy said, "Miles, you stay here and watch Nina. Just assign a few men to go with me. That’ll be enough."

"I’m still worried. How about I just have Ruby Sterling dragged over here?" Miles said with a frown.

"It’s not that easy to just grab her. Just send more men. I’ll be fine. Besides, I can call Quentin. I’m sure he’s also arranged for people to protect me. I’ll stay at the entrance and won’t go inside. If anything seems off, I’ll bolt immediately."

Miles still didn’t look convinced, so Ivy added, "And besides, it’s just a hunch that Ruby Sterling is plotting something. What if I’m just overthinking it?"

"Then I’ll arrange for the men." Miles immediately made a call to summon them.

He would absolutely not let anything happen to Ivy Sherwood. She was the most precious person to the Mercer Family.

In the car, on the way there, Ivy also tried calling Quentin Blackwood. ’If something really happens, Quentin should know about it.’

But Quentin Blackwood’s phone was off, and so was Zane Linton’s.

’They’re probably still busy,’ she thought. It was night where she was, but Quentin was abroad where it was still daytime. There was a time difference.

Ivy figured that since Miles had already arranged for so many men, nothing bad could happen.

’Besides, I can always call the police when the time comes. That’s a backup plan.’

At this thought, Ivy started to feel she might really be overthinking things. ’What if Ruby Sterling truly doesn’t have any ulterior motives?’

But it was better to be safe than sorry. Ruby Sterling was bad news to begin with; who knew what she was planning this time?

The car Miles arranged quickly brought Ivy to the Sherwood Residence Entrance.

She had been to this place countless times.

Standing right at the entrance, she called Ruby Sterling. "Ruby Sterling, I’m here. Where are my mother’s belongings?"

"What, you’re not actually expecting me to bring them out to you, are you?"

"I’m already here. Just tell me how much money you want."

’If it’s not about money, I can’t imagine what else Ruby Sterling could possibly want,’ Ivy thought.

"Of course I want money. Why don’t you come in so we can have a good talk."

"We can talk just fine out here," Ivy said, with absolutely no intention of going inside.

Ruby Sterling came out, and when she saw Ivy’s face, she was still stunned by her beauty.

She had always taken pride in her own daughters, believing them to be the epitome of beauty. Their faces were carbon copies of her own. Both Thea Sherwood and Claire Sherwood were great beauties; Thea possessed a gentle, girl-next-door charm, while Claire was beautiful and poised.

Before meeting Ivy, she couldn’t have imagined someone could be this beautiful. She had only seen her from a distance before, but now, looking at Ivy up close, even in the dim light, her fair skin seemed to glow. Her features were more defined, possessing a beauty that even the biggest stars on TV couldn’t display.

No wonder Godfather had been obsessing over her for so long, and no wonder she was able to hook even Quentin Blackwood.

’If I were a man, I’d probably have designs on her too.’

’This Ivy Sherwood really knows how to hide her true colors. Just like her mother, Yvonne Summers—neither of them is any good!’

"We can talk here, fine. But what’s the meaning of you bringing so many people?" Ruby Sterling’s gaze was venomous.

’I really underestimated her. It wasn’t easy at all to lure Ivy Sherwood over here.’

"It means nothing. The belongings?" Ivy didn’t want to waste her breath on Ruby.

"I told you, the things are inside. Fifty million, and I’ll give them to you."

"Fine, I agree. Bring them out, and I’ll transfer the money to you immediately." ’It’s only fifty million, not an exorbitant amount. I don’t want to get tangled up with Ruby Sterling. Anything that money can solve isn’t a big deal.’

"I said, come in and get them yourself."

Ivy noticed that Ruby Sterling kept insisting she come inside. Ruby was the one who lured her here. ’If she really just wanted money, why wouldn’t she bring the belongings out?’

’She definitely has another motive,’ Ivy realized. "In that case, I don’t want them anymore," she said, then turned to her men. "Let’s go!"

At that moment, men emerged from all around. Ruby Sterling cackled, "Did you really think you could leave?"

’This was the opportunity she and Godfather had been waiting for for so long.’

Godfather’s men were lying in ambush all around. They had anticipated Ivy might bring backup, so they were well-prepared.

And to prepare for this day, they had eliminated all potential obstacles. They had even deliberately drugged Nina Scott to lure Miles Mercer away.

"What are you trying to do!" Ivy saw the men Miles had sent fighting with the ambushers, but Ruby Sterling had come prepared with a knockout drug—an extremely potent one.

With Jason Summers helping from the shadows, even the men Quentin Blackwood had arranged were being held up.

Just then, Charlie Rhodes also walked out from inside.

"Hahaha, what do you think I’m going to do? Ivy Sherwood, I’ve been thinking about you nonstop. So many days have passed, and I still can’t forget this pretty face of yours. A true femme fatale." Charlie Rhodes laughed without restraint, his face twisting into a hideous expression.

Charlie Rhodes had arranged for many men today, determined to get Ivy Sherwood no matter what.

Seeing how dire the situation was, Ivy was already trying to call Miles.

Charlie Rhodes walked right up to Ivy, snatched her phone, and threw it into the nearby flower bushes.

"You can scream your lungs out today, but no one is coming to save you!" Charlie Rhodes sneered.

The sight of him made Ivy’s stomach churn with disgust. She kicked him squarely in the stomach, then turned and bolted.
