Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 524: Since You’re So Good at Talking, Say More
The news sent everything into chaos.
The guests began to whisper amongst themselves. "What’s going on? The bride tried to kill herself?"
"No way. Is this wedding going to turn into a funeral?"
"What happened? Don’t tell me she was forced into this marriage. I never heard anything about Yara Scott getting married. Should we call the police?"
When Nina Scott heard the news, she couldn’t be bothered with anything else and quickly pulled Miles Mercer along. "Let’s go see."
The auspicious hour of noon hadn’t arrived yet. Yara Scott was still in the dressing room backstage, where she had been getting ready since morning.
Members of the Walker family rushed over as well, and the dressing room was instantly packed.
Yara Scott had slit her wrists. Bloodstains dripped onto her pristine white wedding dress, a glaring sight against the fabric.
"Yara! Yara!" Cameron Walker shook her, but Yara Scott didn’t respond.
"An ambulance! Call an ambulance!"
Yara Scott was sent to the hospital. The Walker Family refused to accompany her, and no one from the Scott Family went either. Mrs. Scott and Mr. Scott were both there, dealing with the mess.
What was supposed to be a joyous wedding had now devolved into a massive argument.
"What rotten luck! Getting involved with your Scott Family has brought us the worst luck in eight lifetimes! Nothing like this has ever happened to the Walker Family. Just listen to what everyone outside is saying! They’re claiming our family strong-armed her into this. It’s as ugly as it gets! We’re calling this wedding off! You have to return the bride price. Your Scott Family tricked us into this marriage, and I’m going to make you pay!"
Mrs. Scott was not to be outdone. "We already registered the marriage two days ago, and all the guests are here! How can you just call it off whenever you feel like it? This is basically a marriage already! Do you think a daughter of the Scott Family is worthless? Your son is on his second marriage, but this is my daughter’s first! She’s already considered married into your family!"
’A perfectly fine girl can’t get married for two days and then immediately get divorced, can she? That would make her a divorcee!’
Besides, things had escalated this far because the Walker Family brought it on themselves, no matter how you looked at it.
"What are you trying to pull? You shameless hooligans!" Mrs. Walker cursed.
Mrs. Scott retorted, "I didn’t agree to Yara marrying into your family in the first place! It was your Walker Family that insisted on marrying her! What, you’re the ones who wanted her, and now you’re the ones who don’t? Who do you think you are, God Almighty? Does everything have to go your way? Fine, let’s call the police! Let them investigate both our families and see if this marriage is legally binding or not!"
"You... you..." Mrs. Walker was furious.
"Anyone who gets involved with your Scott Family is doomed! How can people like you exist!"
Mrs. Scott shot back, "And your Walker Family is any better? You’re the ones who drove my daughter to this! If anything happens to Yara, your Walker Family will be murderers, and I’ll sue you!"
"You, sue me? Is your Scott Family so high and mighty? I heard your daughter is just some unwanted piece of trash who was messing around with her own brother! There were even videos of it online!"
"What nonsense are you spouting!" That accusation hit a nerve, and Mrs. Scott exploded.
"You know perfectly well whether I’m spouting nonsense or not. A family like the Scotts that can raise a daughter like that is no good either. Maybe you’re the real piece of trash. Who even knows who you had your kids with? A whole nest of bad seeds."
SMACK! Mrs. Scott slapped her across the face. Not to be outdone, Mrs. Walker immediately grabbed Mrs. Scott by the hair.
The two women, who were usually so concerned with their image, were now brawling in the lounge, completely heedless of their appearances.
They were tearing at each other’s hair and hitting each other viciously, like a pair of shrews.
Even those who wanted to break up the fight couldn’t get close enough to intervene.
And the things they were screaming at each other grew nastier by the second.
Nina Scott was right at the doorway, with a perfect view of the whole show.
She even took a handful of sunflower seeds from her purse and offered them to Miles Mercer. "Want some?"
Miles Mercer: "..."
’In a situation like this, Nina Scott actually had the nerve to be snacking on sunflower seeds.’
"What’s with that look? Sunflower seeds and peanuts are essential for watching the drama unfold. Look at all this juicy drama, isn’t it great?"
Nina Scott absolutely lived for moments like this. The saying "what goes around, comes around" was really true.
Seeing the Scott Family reduced to this was incredibly satisfying for her.
"I don’t enjoy watching scenes like this," Miles Mercer said.
He really had no interest in this sort of thing. If Nina Scott hadn’t dragged him over, he wouldn’t have come at all.
Nina Scott saw that Miles Mercer truly looked uninterested. Besides, the commotion was attracting more and more people.
Although she was shielding Miles Mercer, some women were still being quite forward.
Nina Scott took Miles Mercer’s hand. "Let’s go, then."
’If Miles Mercer is uncomfortable, then I won’t watch anymore.’
Nina Scott left with Miles Mercer, and they went to find Ivy Sherwood, hoping to crash at her place for a meal.
It was the weekend, so no one was at work. Ivy Sherwood was at home.
Their timing was perfect. President Blackwood had just finished cooking.
Nina Scott said, "Well, look at that! President Blackwood is cooking today? In that case, I’ll help myself."
"Weren’t you at a wedding reception?" Ivy Sherwood asked, propping her chin on her hand.
Nina Scott replied, "What’s there to celebrate at her wedding? I’ll come drink my fill when you two get married. And I’m sitting at the main table!"
Quentin Blackwood hadn’t originally planned on having Nina Scott over for dinner, but since she was being so sweet-tongued, he figured he could make a couple of extra dishes.
"You two go chat. I’ll whip up a couple more dishes," Quentin Blackwood said, tying on an apron.
He was already very tall, and even wearing an apron in the kitchen, he had a unique air about him. With a face like that, even if he were a chef, he’d be the most handsome one.
Nina Scott nudged Miles Mercer. "Look at your brother-in-law. He knows what he’s doing. Aren’t you going to help?"
Miles Mercer said, "He’s not my brother-in-law yet."
Just because his little sister had forgiven him didn’t mean the Mercers had.
Despite saying that, Miles Mercer went into the kitchen to help. In that respect, the Mercer Family had raised him well.
With two big men in the kitchen, Ivy Sherwood’s home, which wasn’t small by any means, suddenly seemed a bit crowded.
Meanwhile, Nina Scott was pulling Ivy Sherwood aside, chattering away about what had happened with the Scott and Walker families.
Nina Scott was desperate to share the news with someone, and Ivy Sherwood was the perfect person.
"You should have seen the Walkers and the Scotts going at it. I should have taken a video! You’ve met my mom, right? You know how obsessed she is with her reputation. Now she’s acting like a complete lunatic. It was terrifying."
"And Yara chose to attempt suicide. Does she really think she can get out of it that way? She’s not going to die. She was just trying to scare the Scotts and the Walkers. She has no idea that the Scott Family has already given up on her. When she wakes up, she’ll probably be sent straight to the Walkers. And after a scene like this, the Walker Family will despise her even more."
"From now on, I doubt she’ll have a single easy day."
