"Yara Scott? Your mother can actually bear to marry her off?" Ivy Sherwood was still surprised.

After all, Ivy had seen with her own eyes how much Mrs. Scott doted on Yara. Since she was little, Yara had been great at charming the Scotts, and Mrs. Scott had even come to see Yara as her real daughter.

It was obvious the Walkers were not a good family to marry into. If Yara married into their family, her life would likely be difficult.

"You still don’t know my mom well enough. She only cares about herself; no one else matters. Yara used to be great at pleasing her, which is why she liked her. But when Yara set her sights on my brother, that crossed her bottom line."

"Besides, with how things are now, marrying Yara off is the best solution. To be honest, even if it wasn’t about my brother, Yara would have most likely been married off anyway. My brother’s involvement just sped up my mother’s resentment toward her."

Nina felt that what happened to the Scott Family from now on was no longer her concern.

Back then, the Scott Family had been in a hurry to marry her off, so the wedding date was set for very soon—next week, in fact.

Now it was Yara, but the wedding date was still next week.

The Scott Family had already started preparations. The invitations had been sent out, now officially printed with Yara Scott’s name.

Nina was now out of the picture, but she didn’t know what her brother thought about all this.

After Yara had angered Mrs. Scott to the point of hospitalization, she was still there.

Nina gave Seth Scott a call to ask if he wanted to have dinner that night. In truth, she also wanted to ask about Mrs. Scott’s condition.

Although Nina didn’t want to admit it, they still shared the same blood. In a way, Mrs. Scott was a pitiful sight. Seth was busy, Yara was no longer by her side, and she was all alone in the hospital.

When she was a child and Mrs. Scott got sick, Nina, who was also feeling unwell at the time, still went to keep her company. But Yara put something in Mrs. Scott’s medicine, claimed Nina did it, and even said Nina was trying to poison her. Mrs. Scott drove her away, calling her a cruel, ungrateful wretch and saying that she wouldn’t need Nina even on her deathbed. After that, whenever Mrs. Scott got sick, Nina rarely visited.

Seth said, "Yara asked me to have dinner with her tonight, too. She seems to be in a bad mood. I’m sorry, Nina, I can’t eat with you."

Yara was actually asking Seth to dinner. Mrs. Scott now knew that Yara liked Seth, but Nina wasn’t sure if Seth himself knew.

Nina asked, "So, which hotel are you meeting at?"

Seth told her the name of a hotel.

"Yara asked you to have dinner at a hotel?" That sounded like Yara had ulterior motives.

’Her brother couldn’t be that naive, could he? Was he about to be manipulated by Yara?’

’After all, meeting for dinner at a hotel for no good reason... what if Yara has a plan?’

"Yeah, what’s wrong?"

"It’s nothing. Just... be careful, Seth. Don’t trust Yara too much. Her motives might not be pure."

Nina didn’t want to speak ill of Yara in front of Seth. If he didn’t believe her, he might think she was just saying it deliberately because she disliked Yara.

"Okay. As for Mom, you could go see her. I’m sure she misses you a lot."

Nina said, "I know. I’ll go see her."

That evening, Nina went to the hospital, bringing fruit with her.

The moment she saw Nina, Mrs. Scott grabbed something from the table and hurled it at her. She threw it with great force, as if she truly wanted to kill her.

"Get out! Get out!"

Nina dodged, then came back inside.

"If I get out, wouldn’t that just make you even more pitiful?"

Mrs. Scott was grinding her teeth in hatred. Nina said, "Alright, drop the act. They say every pitiful person has a hateful side, and that’s never been wrong. Looking at you like this, I just think it’s karma. You really mistook a fish eye for a pearl, didn’t you? Did you actually think Yara was such a treasure?"

Mrs. Scott was still glaring at Nina, but Nina no longer cared.

"I just don’t get it. Yara is always sowing discord and talking behind people’s backs. What exactly do you like about her? Didn’t you always say you have a sharp eye? You couldn’t see through her intentions?"

"Did you think she was good to you because she cared about you and liked you as a mother? She wasn’t treating you like a mother; she was treating you like a mother-in-law."

"Get out! I don’t want to see you!" Mrs. Scott fumed.

Every one of Nina’s words stabbed Mrs. Scott right in the heart.

Nina said, "Look at you now, still so fierce. Have you never once stopped to think about why we ended up like this? Why you hate me so much?"

"It’s your problem! You’re the one who’s worthless and disobedient!"

"I’m disobedient? Why exactly do you think I’m disobedient? Isn’t it because of what Yara has been whispering in your ear? She presented herself so perfectly, building herself up by tearing me down, all to make you think I was the immature and hateful one, wasn’t it?"

Mrs. Scott’s expression froze. Thinking back on it now, it seemed that was indeed the case.

Yara had indeed often whispered in her ear, telling her how thoughtless Nina was, pointing out all of Nina’s flaws.

And she... she had never realized it.

She had actually thought Yara was wonderful, such a sweet and considerate child.

"Stop talking! Stop talking!" Mrs. Scott became frantic. She didn’t want to hear any of this, and she certainly didn’t want to admit that she was the one who was wrong.

"You’re always like this, unwilling to admit your own mistakes. People can only praise you; they can’t say a single bad thing about you. I can’t be like Yara. I can’t bring myself to see you as a good mother. To me, you’re worse than a stranger."

Nina paused. "But you’ve always thought Yara was so good, haven’t you? In that case, why don’t you come with me somewhere and see your good daughter’s true colors."

"Where? I’m not going!"

Nina nodded. "Fine, don’t go. But tonight, Yara has asked Seth to meet her at a hotel. He told me he’s going. If Yara does something to him, I’m not getting involved."

Hearing this, Mrs. Scott’s expression changed. "Where?"

’That Yara... how dare she!’

...

Yara had indeed made thorough preparations for today. Nina had dared to secretly get married before her own wedding to the Walkers.

Now the Scott Family was forcing her to get married, so why couldn’t she sleep with Seth before the wedding?

If she just married into the Walker Family like this, she would definitely not be able to accept it.

Nina had stolen the official family register to get secretly married, but that method wouldn’t work anymore. Mrs. Scott had already hidden the register, so she couldn’t use the same trick.

Besides, she couldn’t bring herself to just marry some random person.

She had been in love with Seth for many years. If she could have him before she was married off, then she would be content.

So for tonight, she had specially booked a hotel room. She hadn’t gone back home for the past few days, not wanting to return to the Scott residence. Instead, her plan was to pretend she was heartbroken and needed her brother’s comfort to lure Seth over.
