Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 407: Joy Sheridan Wets Herself in Terror, Seth Scott Taunts Quentin Blackwood

  • Next Chapter

They could all see that even though she never mentioned Quentin Blackwood, Ivy Sherwood was still in love with him.

For this woman to dare and bully their little sister... she simply had a death wish.

"You... You actually dared to hit me! Ganging up on a single woman—what’s so brave about that? If you’ve got any guts, go get Ivy Sherwood!"

"As if you’re worthy of seeing her!" Miles Mercer was nowhere near satisfied.

"That’s enough," Xavier Mercer interjected.

Just then, someone handed him a glass of water. Xavier accepted it with his long, slender fingers and looked down at the woman on the floor.

His thin lips twitched, his gaze piercing. "My family, the Mercers, is never unreasonable. We simply believe in an eye for an eye."

"You threw a drink on my sister, so I’ll return the favor. That’s fair, isn’t it?"

Joy Sheridan’s expression grew visibly panicked. "What are you going to do? I didn’t even get any on Ivy Sherwood! Someone blocked it, didn’t they? You can’t do this to me!"

’That’s a glass of acid! If that gets on my face, I’ll be disfigured!’

No woman is careless about her appearance, especially not someone like her.

She couldn’t bear to imagine her entire face being burned away. If that happened, Quentin Blackwood would surely never want her.

"No... please, no! I know I was wrong! I really do! Please, let me go! I swear I’ll never go after Ivy Sherwood again!"

Yet the three Mercer brothers’ expressions remained unmoved. The Mercers hadn’t reached their current status by being soft-hearted.

"A little late to be admitting you’re wrong, don’t you think? We still don’t know the half of how you’ve been bullying our little sister," Miles said.

He was now completely devoted to his sister; anyone who dared to bully her was making an enemy of him.

Xavier raised the glass high above Joy Sheridan’s head. He tilted it, the contents about to pour out.

"No... please, no..." Joy shrieked and sobbed. A liquid began to stream from between her legs, soaking her dress and creating a puddle on the floor. A foul stench instantly filled the room.

"Bro, she was so scared she wet herself," Miles said, looking at the puddle in disgust.

Upon seeing this, Xavier dumped the entire glass of water onto her face.

"AHH!" Joy screamed.

Two seconds passed, but the searing pain she expected never came. She was just soaking wet.

She looked up at the three men standing over her as a wave of joyous relief washed over her. ’It’s not acid! It’s not acid!’

"Did you get that on video?" Xavier asked someone to the side.

The person brought a camera over. "Got it."

"What is the meaning of this?" Joy had truly believed she was about to be disfigured. Now, amidst her relief, she realized she’d been so terrified that she had wet herself.

"We’ll be posting this video online. Consider it your punishment. You should be grateful my sister is unharmed, or that would have been acid you felt," Xavier said, his voice as cold as ever.

"If you dare to lay a hand on Ivy Sherwood again, I won’t mind giving you an acid bath."

With that, Xavier and his brothers left.

Not using acid was a mercy. Next time, they wouldn’t be so accommodating.

As for the video, it was quickly posted online anonymously. Even in the dead of night, it racked up an impressive number of views and shares.

People who knew Joy Sheridan were especially shocked when they saw it. "Holy crap, isn’t that the heiress, Joy Sheridan? Did she actually wet herself?"

"This is so humiliating. What’s going on here, some kind of bondage play?"

"Who knows? All I can say is, the rich have some weird hobbies. This woman looks pretty trashy."

The internet was abuzz with discussion, and Joy Sheridan was utterly humiliated.

Meanwhile, Joy Sheridan, still unaware of this, remained collapsed on the floor, roaring with fury.

"AHH! AHH!"

’Ivy Sherwood! It’s all her fault I’m in this miserable state!’

’This is the first time I’ve ever been so disgraced. If they really post that video online for everyone to see, how could I ever show my face again?’

She could already imagine people pointing and whispering about her wherever she went. And it was all thanks to Ivy Sherwood.

’They told me not to touch Ivy Sherwood, but I refuse to accept this!’

’Why? Why did Ivy Sherwood have Quentin Blackwood protecting her before, and now she has other men protecting her? How can she be so lucky with men!’

...

She barely slept a wink all night. But Ivy Sherwood didn’t spend the night wallowing in sorrow. Instead, she threw herself into her work, even taking the opportunity to try her hand at picking a few stocks.

She hadn’t had much time to go online recently and was just now seeing that the investments she’d made a while back had all paid off. Ivy had only invested tens of millions, but her portfolio had already multiplied several times over.

For the next two days, Ivy Sherwood didn’t see Quentin Blackwood. She didn’t know if he had left, but she told herself it was none of her business.

Miles Mercer, on the other hand, was constantly trying to find new ways to cheer her up.

Today, for instance, he had called out to her, "Sis, how about we go for a walk?"

Xavier and Connor Mercer had already left the resort on business, leaving only Miles and their grandfather behind.

They went to the nearby beach, where Ivy Sherwood waded barefoot in the water. She was incredibly popular; after just a few moments of playing in the surf, a steady stream of men began approaching to hit on her.

However, she dispatched them all with a single sentence: "Sorry, I’m married."

Not far away, Quentin Blackwood’s figure was hidden behind a tree. With every man that approached her, he felt the urge to rush out and tear them limb from limb.

Now that Ivy Sherwood was no longer wearing makeup to hide her features, her face was one that few could resist—men or women.

Just then, someone walked up behind Quentin Blackwood.

"Since it’s all over, what are you still doing here watching?" The speaker was Seth Scott.

That’s right—he had come specifically to gloat at Quentin Blackwood’s expense.

"Get lost," Quentin Blackwood said, his voice devoid of warmth.

But Seth Scott just laughed. "Some people don’t deserve to stand by Ivy Sherwood’s side, so they should just get lost sooner rather than later. Don’t think she’ll love you forever. Feelings can grow over time, and one day, she’ll fall for someone new."

Seth Scott looked at Quentin Blackwood. "You don’t dare to approach her now. I, on the other hand, am different."

With that, Seth Scott started walking toward Ivy Sherwood.

Seth walked up behind Ivy Sherwood and called out, "Ivy."

Ivy turned around, surprised to see Seth Scott. ’He’s here too?’

When Seth Scott saw Ivy’s face, his eyes flickered for a moment before he said, "My apologies, I’ve mistaken you for someone else. You look a lot like a friend of mine from behind."

Ivy was speechless.

For a moment, she wasn’t sure if she should admit that she was, in fact, Ivy Sherwood.

"Seth, it’s me." Since Ivy had already decided to stop wearing makeup, she figured she might as well come clean.

Seth feigned surprise. "Ivy? You... your face..."

Though his tone was one of shock, his eyes held no trace of alarm.

In truth, he had known Ivy’s secret for a long time. He’d seen her without makeup several years ago when she was with Nina.

Seth Scott walked right up to Ivy’s side and even reached out to touch her face.

From any other angle, the gesture looked incredibly intimate. He was doing it deliberately for Quentin Blackwood, who was hiding nearby, to see.

His gaze shifted to the space behind Ivy, as if to say, ’Do you dare to come over here?’

Quentin Blackwood’s eyes went red with fury. He couldn’t stand being provoked like this!
