Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 406: He doesn’t hit women, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have others do it
He had already seen her shadow through the glass when Ivy Sherwood was standing outside.
Quentin Blackwood was absolutely ecstatic that Ivy Sherwood had come to see him.
He wanted to get a good look at her, to hold her in his arms.
’But right now, I can’t even open my eyes.’
’If I wake up, she’ll definitely leave. I want to be with her, even if it’s just for one more second.’
His face was so close. Ivy Sherwood’s fingers twitched, wanting to reach out and touch him, but she pulled her hand back halfway.
Ivy Sherwood whispered, "Even if you saved me, I’m not going to thank you. This whole mess started because of you anyway. You deserve this!"
If it weren’t for Quentin Blackwood, she wouldn’t have needlessly made an enemy of Joy Sheridan.
’Hasn’t Quentin Blackwood told Joy Sheridan that we’re not together anymore? I have nothing to do with him now. For Joy Sheridan to still be coming after me, she must be picking on the wrong person!’
Hearing Ivy Sherwood’s muttering, the corners of Quentin Blackwood’s lips lifted into a small smile.
’I can just picture the look on her face as she says this, even with my eyes closed. She’s so cute like this. I want to kiss her.’
’It’s not that I need her to thank me. This was my fault to begin with. I just didn’t want her to get hurt.’
"You’ve achieved your goals, so why did you come to Lustre? Are you here to laugh at me? Is it because you wanted to see that I haven’t gotten over you? Does that make you happy?"
As she spoke, Ivy Sherwood’s voice grew choked with emotion.
"Quentin Blackwood, stay out of my sight. And don’t even think about using me again. I have three brothers now. If you want to bully me, you’ll have to get their permission first."
Listening to Ivy Sherwood’s words, Quentin thought, ’Three brothers? The three Mercer brothers?’
’Ivy Sherwood... is one of the Mercers?’
Ivy Sherwood sat for another moment before standing up. "I’m leaving."
And with that, she was really gone. ’I shouldn’t have come in the first place,’ she thought. ’Besides, Quentin Blackwood could wake up at any moment. If he saw me, it would be so awkward for both of us.’
Once outside, Ivy Sherwood asked, "Doctor, are his injuries serious? How long will it take to heal? Will it leave a scar?"
The doctor said, "It’s not too serious. Luckily, his clothes took some of the impact, and the acid was fairly diluted. However, the wound can’t get wet for the time being. Our medical facilities here are limited, so it would be best for the patient to transfer to a larger hospital."
"Didn’t you try to persuade him?"
"We did. He refuses to go."
"Why?" Ivy Sherwood didn’t understand.
The doctor looked at her. "Young lady, what are you to that handsome fellow? His girlfriend?"
Ivy Sherwood paused for a moment. "His enemy."
"An enemy who comes to visit him? I think you two look good together. He hasn’t left, you know. Maybe he’s waiting for you."
’Impossible. Why would Quentin Blackwood wait for me? He’s probably just exhausted.’
Ivy Sherwood said nothing more, but she made the doctor on duty promise not to tell Quentin Blackwood she had been there.
The doctor on duty nodded and went back to his work. A moment later, however, he saw the tall fellow from the room pull on a shirt, walk out, and leave the infirmary, clearly heading in the direction the girl had gone.
The doctor shook his head and sighed. He would never understand the world of young people.
Quentin Blackwood followed Ivy Sherwood, keeping his distance.
He watched her go back and saw which room she was staying in.
If Ivy Sherwood were to pull open her curtains right now, she would see the man standing outside.
But just then, the door opened.
Ivy Sherwood stood in the doorway, and her eyes met Quentin Blackwood’s.
Caught, Quentin Blackwood was speechless. "..."
"So, you weren’t asleep after all," Ivy Sherwood said, seeming unsurprised that Quentin Blackwood had followed her.
She had noticed him a while ago.
After living with Quentin Blackwood for so long, she knew his habits.
Quentin wasn’t the type to sleep soundly, and she had been talking in his room, after all.
Since he had followed her, there was no point in hiding.
"I..." Quentin Blackwood opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.
Even though winter in Lustre was as mild as spring, Quentin Blackwood stood there in just a shirt, seemingly impervious to the cold.
"What else do you want? What’s this little show you and Joy Sheridan are putting on? Are you trying to use me to get something else from me, or are you after something from the Mercer Family? Quentin Blackwood, you’re so ruthless you’d even hurt yourself. You’re not above playing the victim, are you?"
Quentin Blackwood knew Ivy had misunderstood, but right now, he didn’t know how to explain.
"I’m not trying to do anything."
"Then you shouldn’t be here in front of me! I don’t want to see you. Take your Joy Sheridan and get out of Lustre!"
Ivy Sherwood quickly slammed the door shut. Quentin Blackwood stared at the closed door, his gaze lingering long after.
Behind the door, Ivy Sherwood’s body slowly slid to the floor. She crouched there, tears welling in her eyes once more.
No one knew how much strength it had taken for her to make her voice sound so cold just now.
A sharp pain seemed to twist in her abdomen. ’Is the baby in my belly feeling my emotions?’ She bit her lip, swearing that this would be the absolute last time she ever cried for Quentin Blackwood.
Outside, Quentin Blackwood had not left. Someone approached him. "President Blackwood, the Mercers have taken Miss Sheridan. Should we have the Mercer Family release her?"
Quentin Blackwood’s eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "No need. Joy Sheridan can bear the consequences of her own actions."
’Joy Sheridan never thinks about the consequences. It’s time she learned that without Old Master Sheridan’s protection, she has to pay the price for her own actions.’
「...」
Joy Sheridan was taken away by Xavier Mercer’s men. In a private room, she was trussed up like a turkey.
Several burly bodyguards stood nearby. Even if she wanted to run, there was no escaping from here.
When the three Mercer brothers walked in, Joy Sheridan was still screaming for them to let her out.
When she saw Xavier Mercer, Joy Sheridan spat, "I know who you are. You’re just one of Ivy Sherwood’s lackeys, aren’t you? What do you want!"
"Do you have any idea who I am? I’m the Family Head of the Sheridan Family!"
Miles Mercer was getting angrier just looking at the woman. ’So ugly, yet so full of herself. What does she have to be so arrogant about?’
’If I didn’t have a rule against hitting women, I’d have slapped her a couple of times already.’
"The Sheridan Family? What’s that? Big Brother, you ever heard of them?"
Xavier Mercer shook his head. "Never."
Seeing that these men weren’t the least bit intimidated by the Sheridan Family, Joy Sheridan pressed on.
"I’m also Quentin Blackwood’s future wife! You dare to kidnap me? Quentin Blackwood will not let you get away with this!"
"You dare bring up Quentin Blackwood!" Miles Mercer’s temper flared. "Someone, slap her for me!"
One of the burly men beside her wasted no time, swinging a heavy hand across Joy Sheridan’s face.
"SMACK!" The force of these men was far greater than Ivy Sherwood’s.
Joy Sheridan’s face, already swollen, now puffed up even more.
’Just because I don’t hit women doesn’t mean I can’t have others do it for me,’ he thought. ’Quentin Blackwood probably dumped our little sister for this woman. All the more reason to beat the hell out of her.’
