World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 2031 - 91: Death of the Demon Princess
Zhang Xiaoman could tell that although the Demon Princess was forcefully resisting more than a dozen Lost Souls, she was far from relaxed; the two sides had temporarily fallen into a stalemate, but it wouldn’t last long. He could sense the enormous Energy the Demon Princess was expending, and he believed those Lost Souls were equally well aware of this.
Only, the current situation was no longer a simple war of attrition. With the advent of the Great Collapse, the Demon Princess’ side seemed to gain a considerable increase in their chances of victory; even beings as strong as Dominator Level could not escape those terrifying tearing effects.
Seeing this scene, Zhang Xiaoman didn’t know whether to be glad or worried. Glad, because there was now a way to deal with the threat of these Lost Souls; worried, naturally, about the unknown devastation that sudden Great Collapse might bring.
"Ji Xing, hurry! Take them into the Original Realm!"
Over there, the Demon Princess suddenly flew toward him, and a strand of intent transmitted directly into Zhang Xiaoman’s mind at the same time.
"What!?"
Zhang Xiaoman was startled at her words, looking at her in surprise.
He saw the Demon Princess directly snap the chains wrapped around her body, and, without the slightest warning, she charged out of the Soul-locking Array. The already shattered and dilapidated Soul-locking Array instantly broke apart completely, and the entire space shook even more violently.
Zhang Xiaoman didn’t know why the Demon Princess was doing this. Could it be she wanted to kill these Lost Souls via the Original Realm? But in doing so, the Demon Princess had already left the Soul-locking Array, and given the Array’s current Status, it would most likely collapse outright and be beyond repair.
However, with a turn of thought he understood. The very purpose of the Soul-locking Array was to suppress these Lost Souls; if the Lost Souls were already dead in the Original Realm, then the Formation naturally no longer needed to exist.
There was just one point the Demon Princess likely did not know: bringing someone into the Original Realm was not so simple. The target had to offer no resistance whatsoever. Although these Lost Souls were temporarily bound, they had not lost consciousness and were constantly struggling. Targets in such a Status simply could not be taken in.
Seeing the Demon Princess about to reach him, the situation urgent, Zhang Xiaoman could not delay any longer. He made a snap decision, immediately exchanged for a World Tree Clone seed, then used Primordial Power to create a patch of soil, and planted the seed into it.
By this time the Demon Princess had already reached Zhang Xiaoman’s side. She paused slightly at his actions, then immediately understood, and began controlling those chains to firmly bind the Lost Souls while she waited for the World Tree Clone before them to grow.
Zhang Xiaoman had no other way; now he could only use the Tree Gate to bring those Lost Souls into the Original Realm. But generating the Tree Gate required a certain amount of time. From the seed breaking through the soil to its full growth and the appearance of the gate took roughly several minutes, and not even he could speed it up.
The surrounding space shattered inch by inch, and one could clearly feel the fracture speed increasing geometrically. In just this short moment, almost the entire boundary of the Chaotic Void had been affected. At this rate, it probably wouldn’t be long before the entire universe collapsed.
Primordial Power condensed once more in Zhang Xiaoman’s hands, and he stretched the space before him, attempting to use this method to slow the collapse.
Yet his efforts were in vain. The progression of the Great Collapse was not affected in the slightest. Even though the space before him had been extended infinitely, it still could not block the spread of the collapse. The collapse seemed to be a fixed, unchangeable fact, completely unaffected by spatial distance or scale.
The feeling was as if no matter how hard the characters in a comic book tried, they could never stop the book itself from being torn apart. Once the pages were ripped to shreds, no amount of Skill those characters cast would have the slightest effect.
Right now Zhang Xiaoman felt a deep sense of powerlessness. He knew that to stop all this, he would have to "repair" this book, and that would likely require a kind of power he could not even reach for—something even the Demon Princess beside him could not achieve.
"The First Universe and Second Universe have already begun their Fusion. This time the collapse will definitely drag both universes in. Am I really going to have to activate the evacuation plan..."
Countless thoughts flashed through Zhang Xiaoman’s mind in that instant. Judging from the current situation, the Great Collapse would soon completely devour both universes. If he wanted to preserve everything he had personally built, he would have no choice but to initiate the evacuation plan.
The so-called evacuation plan was actually a contingency he’d left back when his Strength was still weak. At that time he had not yet reached Extraordinary Level. To preserve Humans and the Star Alliance, he had made the worst-case preparation: when the situation became irretrievable, he would evacuate as many people as possible into the Original Realm.
As long as they returned to the Original Realm, he would fear no one. But in doing so, the races and civilizations within the Original Realm would very likely fall into a state of complete isolation, making further development extremely difficult.
After all, back then the Original Realm was still very small. Its Boundary Value, compared to the First Universe and Second Universe, was at best a small pocket of space—like the difference between a pond and the ocean. How could a tiny pond ever build a ten-thousand-ton giant ship?
At this moment, Zhang Xiaoman clenched his fists, body taut, his attention fixed on the collapsing space. If, in the final moment, there was still nothing he could do, then he would have no choice but to resort to this last-ditch plan.
