World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 145: Fifth Floor And Rank Two Boss
[You have arrived at the fifth floor.]
Upon arriving at the fifth floor, Evan and the others found a fifteen-meter-tall, silver-colored door standing before them.
Everyone looked at the giant door with anticipation, knowing that a Rank Two Magical Beast awaited them behind it.
The Animal Kingdom Dungeon had ten floors, and the boss monsters on every fifth floor were the only Rank Two monsters in the dungeon.
After facing so many Rank One monsters, everyone was excited to fight a Rank Two monster, especially Alice and the others, who had never faced one before.
As they stared at the door, Alice suddenly turned to Evan.
"Hey, Evan, I have a request."
"Hmm?" Evan stopped looking at the door and turned toward Alice. "What’s wrong?"
Seeing that he was paying attention to her, Alice spoke.
"Can you please stay out of the upcoming fight? Let us handle this Rank Two monster on our own."
Evan raised an eyebrow upon hearing and seeing her serious expression, he nodded.
"Since you don’t want me to participate, then I won’t. But may I know why?"
"It’s nothing serious..." Alice shook her head. "Actually, Kevin needs to kill a Rank Two creature to complete one of his evolution requirements before he can evolve to Rank Two. Moreover, Chancellor Flora informed me of something last night..."
She paused and looked at Erza and the others.
"The mission to destroy the Chaos Alliance base has been verified, and we’ve been accepted into the Main Academy on Planet Agrath. If nothing goes wrong, we should be leaving in a few days."
Liam and the others’ eyes widened in shock when they heard Alice’s announcement. However, their shock was soon replaced by joy.
"Are you serious, Alice? We have really been accepted into the Main Academy?" Erza asked, her voice filled with excitement.
"Hmm..." Alice nodded with a smile. "It won’t be long before we go there."
Evan looked at their excited expressions and smiled genuinely.
"Congrats. Looks like I will have to work hard after returning if I want to join you guys there."
Kevin looked at Evan and chuckled.
"With your strength, it’s just a matter of time before you join us there."
Evan didn’t think too much about it, as there were still many things he needed to consider. Instead, he asked about something else.
"How would you guys go to Planet Agrath? Using a teleportation formation or a spaceship?"
"Using a cross-planet teleportation formation is very expensive." Alice shook her head. "If we use a teleportation formation to go to Planet Agrath, it will consume at least one Rank Three Mana Core and dozens of Rank Two ones. Rank Three Mana Cores are extremely rare, and even my mom doesn’t dare to use them casually, much less small fries like us."
"A Rank Three and dozens of Rank Two Mana Cores..." Evan gulped upon hearing that, as he was still feeling a slight ache in his heart over using his only Rank Two Mana Core earlier.
"So you guys will go there using a spaceship?"
"Yes." Kevin nodded. "It’s not very expensive to travel by spaceship, and it’s actually quite fun to ride one, looking at the vast universe from outside a planet."
’Riding a spaceship, huh...’ Evan thought, and his eyes gleamed slightly.
’I will definitely give it a try if I ever get the chance.’
Putting his wandering thoughts to the back of his mind, Evan returned to the main topic.
"Alright, I understand that Kevin needs to kill a Rank Two creature to fulfill his evolution requirements, but what does that have to do with me not participating in this fight? Since you guys are going to fight alongside him to help him kill the boss, I can do the same. It’ll make things a lot easier."
Alice shook her head and spoke seriously.
"Once we go to Planet Agarth, most of the tasks we’ll have to complete will involve Rank Two Evolvers. Before going there, I want to see how well we fare against a Rank Two creature. You won’t be with us after we enter the Main Academy, so it’s a good opportunity for us to test our strength against the boss on this floor. Its level is neither too high nor too low, making it perfect for testing our strength."
A look of understanding flashed across Evan’s eyes.
"I see..." He nodded before adding, "I won’t interfere here, but when we reach the tenth floor, I’ll definitely fight against the second Rank Two boss."
Alice smiled at Evan’s words. "Thank you for understanding."
She then looked at Erza and the others, her expression turning serious.
"Alright, let’s clear this floor as quickly as possible."
Alice walked up to the silver door and pushed it lightly.
The giant door opened with surprising ease and after taking a deep breath, Alice stepped through it, followed by Evan and the others.
Bang!
As soon as they stepped inside, the door closed behind them with a loud bang.
After passing through the doorway, Evan and the others found themselves standing in a grassy field. A few trees grew across the field, and several monkeys were perched on their branches.
Everyone looked at the monkeys and recognized them as the same kind they had killed on the first floor—the Golden Monkeys.
However, Alice and Evan soon sensed a powerful aura coming from behind the monkeys and they turned toward the tallest tree in the center of the grassy field.
As they looked ahead, they saw large ape sat atop the tree, watching them with cold eyes.
"So, this ape is the boss, and the other monkeys are just its sidekicks," Evan muttered as he sensed the powerful Rank Two aura emanating from the ape.
The ape was about three meters tall, with dark gray fur covering its entire body. Its cold, black eyes remained fixed on Evan and the others, showing not a hint of warmth.
Alice felt the ape’s powerful aura, and her eyes narrowed.
"Liam, take care of those Rank One monkeys. Kevin, buff us up. I’ll fight the Rank Two ape head-on, while Erza provides support from the back," She commanded quickly.
Everyone nodded and immediately took their positions.
"Shield Guardian, Haste, Holy Flames!"
Kevin activated his buffing skills, enhancing the team’s strength and defense.
Liam also activated his skill, and his figure disappeared as he headed toward the group of Rank One Golden Monkeys.
Meanwhile, Alice drew her sword and dashed toward the Rank Two ape, which was still sitting atop the tallest tree.
Erza stood beside Kevin, aiming her bow at the Rank Two ape.
Boosted by Kevin’s buffs and her own high Agility, Alice reached the tree the ape was sitting on in an instant. She swiftly swung her sword, slicing through the trunk and cutting it in half.
The ape’s expression didn’t change, even as the tree beneath it began to fall. It merely watched Alice with cold eyes, as if it didn’t take her and the others seriously.
Seeing this scene, Evan was reminded of the Lizard King, who had also looked down on him when they first met.
’Looks like most Rank Two Magical Beasts and monsters look down on their opponents when they’re only Rank One,’ Evan thought, rubbing his chin as he felt a little sorry for the ape.
Evan was already familiar with Alice and the others’ strength, so he was confident they wouldn’t have much trouble dealing with the ape.
Just as the tree was about to crash to the ground, the ape finally moved.
It leaned forward and used the force generated by its feet to leap toward Alice at incredible speed.
However, when Alice saw it leaping toward her, she didn’t panic and even showed a mocking smile.
Suddenly, the ape felt a chilling sensation and without hesitation, it crossed its arms in an X shape to protect its face.
The instant it crossed its arms, a red arrow tore through the air and struck it at lightning speed.
BOOOOOOM!
The arrow exploded upon striking the ape’s arms, sending it flying ten meters backward through the air. It crashed into the ground and rolled across the field in a disheveled manner.
"Nice shot!" Kevin praised Erza, giving her a thumbs-up when he saw the ape being sent flying.
"Don’t lose focus. This is just the beginning!" Alice shouted seriously as she watched the ape get back up, its eyes bloodshot with rage.
ROAR!
As soon as it stood up, the ape let out an enraged roar that made Alice and the others’ eardrums ring.
Erza looked at the ape’s arms and noticed that the arrow had caused only a minor skin injury that couldn’t even be considered serious.
"As expected of a Rank Two beast. That arrow would’ve been enough to seriously injure or even kill a Level 50 Magical Beast, but it only left a shallow wound on its arms." Erza clicked her tongue, the corners of her lips curling upward.
"But this makes it even more fun!"
