World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 141: Third Floor
[You have arrived at the third floor of the dungeon.]
[Survive the five waves of Magical Beasts to clear this floor.]
"Five waves of Magical Beasts..." Kevin raised an eyebrow upon reading the notification. "This dungeon is really different from the other dungeons."
According to the information they had read about the Animal Kingdom Dungeon, the previous group of people who had cleared the third floor hadn’t encountered this challenge.
They had simply needed to clear the floor normally before being allowed to proceed to the fourth floor.
Alice and the others didn’t say anything and looked at their surroundings.
Currently, all of them were standing on a square-shaped platform. The platform was around two kilometers wide and was located in the middle of a ruined city, with broken buildings and houses scattered everywhere.
"This place looks like it was destroyed by Magical Beasts and monsters," Liam said as he looked at the ruined city.
Evan nodded at Liam’s words, as he felt the same way. Thanks to his excellent eyesight, he could see far into the distance, and everywhere he looked, the situation was the same.
"Surviving five waves... This challenge might have been difficult for other people, but I don’t think it’ll be a problem for us with our current lineup," Erza said as she played with her bow.
"You are right," Liam agreed. "Since no Rank Two Magical Beasts are supposed to appear on this floor, I don’t think it’ll be difficult for us to take care of a few Rank One Magical Beasts either."
[The first wave will now begin.]
Just as they were talking, a notification flashed before their eyes.
Suddenly, the platform they were standing on began to shake, and Evan saw around thirty Magical Beasts appear at the far end of the platform.
There were tigers, bulls, hyenas, and many other types of Magical Beasts in the horde, and all of them were staring at the group with eyes filled with killing intent.
"Since we will have to face five waves and there are five of us, how about we each take care of one wave?" Liam suddenly suggested.
He felt that this floor would be quite easy if they all attacked the Magical Beasts together, so there was no need for everyone to fight the same wave.
"I can take care of two or three Magical Beasts at the same time, but taking care of an entire wave..." Kevin shook his head, as he wasn’t someone who excelled at fighting.
No one was surprised by Kevin’s response, as they all knew his class and skills were geared toward healing and buffs.
It was already impressive that he could fight two or three Magical Beasts of the same level simultaneously, so no one said anything against him.
"Since that’s the case, I will take care of two waves. I need to kill more Magical Beasts to level up and reach Level 50 anyway," Evan said as he glanced at his level, which had reached 39.
No one objected to his suggestion, and they nodded in agreement.
"I will take care of this first wave," Erza said as she took another bow out of her Storage Ring.
Evan raised an eyebrow when he saw the bow, as it was very different from the one she had been using until now.
Unlike her previous, ordinary-looking bow, this one was crimson red and radiated a menacing aura.
Erza aimed her bow at the horde of Magical Beasts charging toward them and as she poured her Mana into it, an arrow began to form on the bowstring.
The arrow was deep crimson in color and released wisps of red smoke. Evan didn’t know why, but the bow and arrow gave him a very eerie feeling.
"Blood Field Arrow!" Erza suddenly muttered before releasing the arrow toward the charging horde of monsters.
The arrow turned into a streak of crimson light and reached the monsters in the blink of an eye.
Evan had expected to see a giant explosion or the arrow piercing through multiple Magical Beasts at once.
However, nothing like that happened.
Instead, the arrow landed at the far end of the platform, its tip plunging into the ground.
The charging horde of monsters reached the platform at that very moment and as soon as the monsters approached the arrow, it released deep-red smoke that instantly covered an area of a hundred meters, engulfing all thirty monsters.
As the monsters were swallowed by the smoke, Evan’s eyes widened when he saw their bodies begin to shrink at a speed visible to the naked eye, as if some kind of monster were sucking out their blood.
What alarmed him even more was that as their bodies shrank, the area covered by the red smoke continued to expand.
Within just a few seconds, it had spread across an area of more than three hundred meters.
[The first wave of monsters has been cleared. The next wave will arrive in ten minutes.]
A notification suddenly flashed before everyone, bringing Evan back to his senses.
"What the hell was that?" He asked with a baffled expression, turning to look at Erza.
"Blood Field... It’s a skill of my Epic-Grade bow combined with my Rank Two skill, Blood Arrow," Erza explained with a smug smile. "These two skills work very well together. As long as someone enters the Blood Field created by Blood Arrow, their blood will be absorbed by the field if they can’t protect themselves. At the same time, the field will continue to expand as it absorbs more blood. With my current strength, I can make it reach up to one kilometer."
"A skill combination involving an Epic-Grade bow and your own skill..." A look of understanding flashed across Evan’s eyes.
’This is very similar to what I do with the Arch Eagle Crossbow. The Wind Bolt I usually use is a combination of my Wind Monarch skill and the crossbow.’
Liam and the others were already familiar with this skill, so they weren’t surprised and remained relatively calm.
"I will go next," Liam said, immediately taking a step forward.
Ten minutes later, the second wave of monsters arrived.
[The second wave will now begin.]
This time, around fifty Magical Beasts appeared at the far end of the platform, and just like before, they were all different types.
"Will he be fine? I don’t think he has any area-of-effect skills," Evan said when he saw Liam rushing toward the monsters.
"He will be fine," Kevin replied, waving his hand dismissively.
No one seemed concerned about Liam, even though he was about to face fifty monsters head-on.
As Liam approached the monsters, he suddenly disappeared and reappeared in front of a Magical Beast that looked like a lion.
The lion was startled when Liam suddenly appeared before it and before it could react, Liam slashed his dagger at its neck.
The tip of the dagger shone with an eerie green light, leaving a deep wound on the lion’s neck. Although the wound was deep, it was far from fatal.
Liam’s expression didn’t change when he saw this and after inflicting a single wound, he immediately disappeared before the monster could react.
Just as he vanished, the lion that had been struck by the dagger suddenly stopped moving and the next second, it collapsed to the ground.
Blackness rapidly spread throughout its body from the spot where Liam had struck it, turning its light-orange body black at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"Poison?" Evan exclaimed in surprise when he saw this.
"Poison is a must-have for assassins," Alice said calmly as she watched Liam move like a ghost amid the horde of monsters.
Thanks to his high Agility, Liam needed only a second or two to inflict a wound on each monster. As he moved through the horde, more and more monsters began to die from his poisonous attacks.
"Although he doesn’t have any area-of-effect skills and fighting like this consumes too much Mana and stamina, he should still be able to kill these Magical Beasts without any problems," Kevin said.
He then took a chair out of his Storage Ring, sat down, and began eating something that looked like popcorn while watching Liam with interest.
Evan’s mouth twitched when he saw Kevin’s actions, and he stared at him speechlessly.
Noticing Evan’s gaze, Kevin turned to look at him and took out another chair, offering it to him along with another packet of popcorn.
Evan looked at him for a few seconds before sitting down and beginning to munch on the popcorn himself.
"What a stupid move," Evan said with a dissatisfied expression as he tossed a piece of popcorn into his mouth. "He should have killed that tiger first. Now that the tiger knows about him, he will have to waste a few seconds chasing after it, since its Agility is the highest among all the monsters."
"You are right..." Kevin nodded as he grabbed a handful of popcorn.
Munch! Munch!
"He made the same mistake earlier. He should focus on attacking the monsters with higher Agility first."
Erza and Alice looked at Kevin and Evan with speechless expressions, wondering whether Liam would be angered to death if he heard their conversation.
