Chapter 508: Chapter 365: Raising an Alt Account?

For some less-skilled Wizards, if you so much as gave them a new cauldron, they might not be able to concoct anything.

Of course, this level of difficulty was nothing to Isaac. He wouldn’t fail, but the quality might be slightly lower, and he would need a few more buffer materials.

So, after thinking it over with a frown, Isaac agreed.

"Where do you want to start?" Angel knew she couldn’t change Isaac’s mind. She could only control her own choices, so she didn’t dwell on the matter and began discussing the research plan with him.

Normally, Isaac wouldn’t need to consult her on his research methods. But unfortunately, since it involved a Witch, everything became special.

For example...

Angel was not only Isaac’s client now, but also a supervisor sent by the Witch Country. Her main duty was to oversee his experiments related to Witches and ensure everything complied with regulations.

Secondly, she sometimes needed to cooperate with Isaac’s experiments. For instance, during the final human-testing phase, the Time Reversal Magic cast by Angel, who commanded the Time Original Scripture, was of a very high order. It could, to a great extent, ensure the safety of the Witch being experimented on.

But her main responsibility was still supervising Isaac; everything else could be put aside.

Isaac naturally had no objections. Or rather, he couldn’t have any. Without her supervision, the Witch Country probably would never have approved his research application...

After all, the name "Mad Witch" had now spread throughout the world, and its deterrent effect was still quite potent.

The fact that no Witch dared to be his supervisor was one of the reasons the application had been delayed for so long.

Therefore, upon hearing Angel’s words, Isaac pondered for a moment and said, "Let’s draw some blood first. We’ll start with the foundational research."

After a pause, Isaac added, "Two samples. One with the spirit of the bloodline severed, for my routine research. The other unchanged, which I’ll have to request from you when I need it."

Isaac had been "coveting" Witches for a long time, so he knew the relevant regulations by heart. He offered an explanation before Angel could even question him.

The truth was, blood wasn’t as all-powerful as it was made out to be in many novels, where a single drop could be used to curse someone to death. Usually, blood was just one of the conditions, and a minor one at that. The vast majority of Curse Magic was cast right to your face to kill you head-on!

Trying to do it sneakily was not only time-consuming and difficult, but also prone to failure.

But regardless, blood could indeed be used as a medium, which was why there were regulations about it. And the presence of the "spirit of the bloodline" was the key factor in determining whether blood could be used as such a medium.

So why did he need a sample with the spirit of the bloodline intact?

Because Isaac wasn’t sure if severing it would affect his research on the Witch Bloodline.

Angel produced two vials of blood and swirled them. She handed one to Isaac and put the other away, asking curiously, "Blood? What can you tell from it?"

There was plenty of research that used blood, but mostly as a material. As a research subject, however...

To be honest, this was the first time she had seen it.

Unlike Isaac, Angel, being a Witch herself, wasn’t bound by confidentiality rules regarding experimental data on Witches. As a result, she knew a thing or two about other Wizards’ experiments on Witches.

Over the years, Isaac wasn’t the first to use a Witch’s blood, but he was definitely the first to use it as a primary research subject. Usually, at this stage, Wizards would just use the Witch herself.

This was also the reason why supervising Witches were assigned in the first place.

She had been curious about this ever since she learned of Isaac’s research plan, but she never had the chance to ask before.

"You can tell a lot..." After a pause, Isaac didn’t elaborate much. "It’s complicated to explain. Are you interested?"

"Mhm." Angel nodded without hesitation.

’It’s not like my interest in research just started yesterday; I just never had the right conditions before.’ As a Witch, Angel’s reputation wasn’t much better than Isaac’s, the Mad Witch.

So even though Angel had been interested in research since her time with Philo, she had never systematically learned how to conduct Magic research. The materials she found, even for the supposedly most systematic Arcanists, all started with learning basic Magic.

But in that regard...

’I’m a natural at it. Things that normal Wizards need to study, I just automatically master when I reach a certain age. On top of that, a Witch’s Magic Power has highly chaotic properties, which made my learning progress far from ideal.’

’Now that I’m with Isaac, I naturally have to latch onto this powerhouse!’

"Hmm... well, I’ll give you a simple explanation then." Isaac organized his thoughts and said, "At the most basic level, blood is a vital component of flesh-and-blood life, and even a source of power. From the Magic Power contained in the blood, we can roughly analyze the host’s proficient Magic System. Next, through blood transfusion experiments, we can determine the exclusivity of the bloodline..."

In the time that followed, Isaac gave Angel a general overview of blood-related experiments, explaining what conclusions could be drawn from corresponding phenomena.

At first, Angel could follow along, but as Isaac explained more and more, her brow furrowed, the lines growing deeper.

It wasn’t that Isaac was going into extreme depth—in such a short time, even with the aid of Light and Shadow Magic, he couldn’t cover overly deep topics. The reason for Angel’s frown was that Isaac’s explanation was too broad, too systematic!

’He’s too broad to be a Legendary Mage; he’s more like an Arcanist. No, wait, many Arcanists haven’t studied as broadly as he has!’

Isaac wasn’t just lost in his explanation. Noticing Angel’s frown, he paused and asked, a hint of anticipation in his curiosity, "Are you really interested in research?"

’These days, even in this golden age for Wizards, Witches willing to study Knowledge are few and far between. It can’t be helped; they’re simply born with too many advantages. Take Lorna. I gave her so many "cheats" and crammed her full of so much Knowledge, yet her progress is still just so-so...’

’Recently, she’s even taken a few steps back because of the leap in her bloodline’s development...’

’It’s understandable. When you spend over a decade studying Knowledge, only to find that the final result isn’t much different from the power you’d gain by just eating well, drinking well, and living comfortably for a decade, you’d give up too.’

’After all, research requires both talent and luck.’

’Lorna was already a lost cause. But if Angel was truly interested, he really wouldn’t mind training her. After all, Angel held a huge advantage in experiments; her Time Magic was of an exceptionally high order, which provided a massive margin for error.’

’At the same time, her Original Scripture, the [Chronicles of Time], was suspected to have the ability to alter the past, similar to how the Core of Time anchors the future. It was ridiculously overpowered, and even more so when applied to research and experiments!’

’So the potential was definitely there. It all depended on whether Angel was willing.’

Hearing this, Angel nodded without a moment’s hesitation. ’He’s supposedly the most solitary Legendary Mage, yet he possesses a Knowledge system more systematic than an Arcanist’s...’

’Coupled with his dazzling achievements, no matter how you look at it, Isaac is an excellent teacher!’

"What do I need to give in return?"

"Hmm... let me think..." Isaac had originally wanted to say she didn’t need to give anything, just help him out as an assistant. But on second thought, ’Witches don’t think like normal people. Agreeing too readily might have the opposite effect.’ He needed to find a suitable reason...

After a moment of thought, Isaac clapped his hands. "I’ve got it! You can teach me Time Magic! It just so happens that I’ve been interested in it for a long time but could never find an in."

Time Magic, once hailed as the greatest and most Mysterious Magic!

Although its mysteriousness has been greatly diminished with the rise of Arcanists, and nowadays even Wizards below Tier Three can learn a few shallow Time Magic spells, those are too superficial to even be considered scratching the surface.

True Time Magic requires at least Tier Three to learn, and most of it falls under Great Arcane Art.

And Great Arcane Art is considered strategic-level Magic, one of the few types controlled by the Truth Association and not easily learned.

This was especially true for a Mad Witch like Isaac, who was under strict watch and heavily restricted!

Thus, although Isaac had been interested in Time Magic for a long time, he’d never had the opportunity to come into contact with it. Now, without a doubt, was a golden opportunity!
