Chapter 506: Chapter 364: Caesar: An Avin of the Knight World Has Appeared?

That was one reason. For another, Isaac’s major research projects were all quite important—the kind he couldn’t step away from for a while once they began. And it was better that way; after all, being able to leave at any moment would mean the research wasn’t going well...

Isaac certainly didn’t want that to happen.

So for now, Isaac was mainly just dabbling in some research—for example, refining the Magic System for Star Mages, while also guiding the research of Soron and Agares.

Judging from the data they had provided over the past three years, their progress was incredibly obvious. Nominally, they were just doing the grunt work of data collection for Isaac, but...

How could Isaac possibly just make them do grunt work?

He would occasionally point out the flaws in their fundamental experiments, which was precisely what both of them lacked most. This was true even for Soron. Compared to Agares, his advantage lay in his nearly inexhaustible supply of experimental resources, which had allowed him to accumulate a vast amount of practical experience.

However, this didn’t mean he was without flaws in his fundamentals. He was like most Legendary Mages: he had advanced so quickly that his foundation at each stage was insufficient.

It wasn’t just him; Isaac had faced the same problem in the past. But Isaac had a cheat, allowing him to elevate his strengths to an infinite degree. Pulled along by those strengths, his weaknesses didn’t seem so glaring.

Of course, even so, the weaknesses still existed, which was why he had also spent some time to remedy them.

For Soron and Agares, this was what they needed to address the most. Building a solid foundation was far more important than learning powerful Magic.

Fortunately, the two not only had talent but also a clear sense of self-awareness. They took Isaac’s teachings to heart, and their progress was quite remarkable.

In contrast, Mad Heart’s other High-level Mage, Selena, was relatively...

Unsatisfactory.

Unlike Agares, who was a Demon Dominator, Selena was a classic Legendary Mage—a pure Wild Sorcerer!

Agares at least had the lineage of the Demon Dominator style to follow. Selena truly had nothing. Her Magic System was a complete mess; she had dabbled in basically everything but was an expert in nothing.

People like her were the most difficult to deal with. She hadn’t settled on a path, yet she was already considered powerful and had her own firm ideas. Individually, Isaac considered both of those to be good qualities, but they absolutely could not be combined...

Because with her, Isaac couldn’t figure out a direction for her training...

Furthermore, reinforcing her foundations wouldn’t bring her much improvement—at least, not any that would be visible in the short term.

Her strongest ability was the Authority she awakened upon advancing to Tier Three—[Incarnation of the Great Serpent]. It was an Authority similar to Transformation Magic, but inferior.

Because [Incarnation of the Great Serpent] *was* her Authority, the great serpent she transformed into didn’t come with a corresponding racial Authority like Transformation Magic would grant. And, most importantly!

The greatest strength of Transformation Magic is that the transformed form and the human form have separate health bars, but [Incarnation of the Great Serpent] does not!

It shares a health bar with her human form!

This made it not quite so... powerful...

Of course, this was only temporary. Down this path, she could head toward Transformation Magic, or she could pursue the Summoning Style.

The first path would allow her to create various Great Snake Transformations, effectively giving her multiple lives. Based on Isaac’s rudimentary understanding of the [Incarnation of the Great Serpent] Authority, she would have a significant advantage when constructing snake-type Transformation Magic. Not only would she learn Transformation Magic faster, but the mutual exclusivity between different snake transformations would be easily resolved. This meant she could possess more transformations than other Wizards of the same Level.

The latter path would make it easier to raise and control snake-type Servant Demons, allowing her to follow the Summoning Style like Isaac and Agares.

In Isaac’s opinion, if Selena chose either of these two paths, she could make significant progress and achieve tangible results in a short amount of time. But...

She chose a third path: Ten Thousand Spirits Transformation...

A research project that Isaac himself had once been interested in but had temporarily shelved due to a lack of time and energy...

One had to admit, her judgment was excellent. The Ten Thousand Spirits Transformation was outstanding in terms of both combat power and potential. Furthermore, Isaac had already developed it to a certain degree; at the very least, once learned, it was more than sufficient for a Tier Three.

But the prerequisite was that one had to learn it!

Her Authority offered no advantage whatsoever for learning the Ten Thousand Spirits Transformation.

Of course, this didn’t mean her choice was wrong. As a High-level Mage, she was already largely free from the constraints of a normal lifespan. She had plenty of time to waste. It was just that from Isaac’s perspective, she could have first chosen to learn the Great Snake Transformation. After mastering a sufficient number of those, she could have advanced to researching the Ten Thousand Spirits Great Snake Transformation, and then slowly transitioned toward the Ten Thousand Spirits Transformation.

This way, both her combat power and her long-term potential would have been addressed.

Unfortunately, as mentioned before, she had her own ideas.

Thanks to Isaac’s preliminary research on Bloodline Mages, she had obtained what amounted to a massive trove of bloodline data and materials. This was immensely helpful for studying Transformation Magic, and so, she got the idea to try and reach the heavens in a single step!

And once the idea took root, it was impossible to stop!

Under these circumstances, although she completed the research tasks Isaac assigned to the letter, she couldn’t spare any extra energy for them. She even set aside some of the fundamental guidance Isaac offered her.

It wasn’t that she was so shortsighted as to be unaware of the importance of fundamentals. But in her eyes, and in the eyes of most Legendary Mages who came up as Wild Sorcerers, combat power and powerful Magic were far more practical than foundations!

’Fundamentals are something you can just patch up later when you need them. Besides, the one thing Wizards don’t lack is time.’

Isaac felt helpless about this. He couldn’t say she lacked ambition—after all, she was aiming for the Ten Thousand Spirits Transformation!

But he couldn’t quite say her ambition outstripped her ability, either. From what Isaac understood, despite not having any boost from her Authority, her learning progress was still acceptable. It might take her several years, perhaps even a decade or more, to master it, but that was at least within the normal range.

Besides, it was true that not reinforcing her foundations was because doing so wouldn’t help her current learning progress much...

Still, in Isaac’s eyes, this was a winding path. However, he had never been one to force his teachings on others. Since Selena refused, he wouldn’t insist. It just meant that if she wanted to patch up her foundations in the future, she would have to rely on her own efforts.

He wouldn’t always be in a convenient position to help.

While Isaac was busy, on the other side of things, Caesar, who had received his message, was not idle either. The Solomon Kingdom had a good number of Furnace Skills, and this was a pressing matter; after all, his father had no further path to advance.

It was just that High Level Furnace Skills weren’t so easy to obtain. Coupled with the existence of the Path of the Gods, which relied on the Power of Faith, very few High Level Furnace Skills circulated among the Nobility.

For one, they were rarely needed. After all, Knights had long lifespans, so many a "Crown Prince" could remain a "Crown Prince" for decades, or even centuries!

Theoretically, this situation should have created a greater demand for High Level Furnace Skills among the Nobility, and in a way, it did. But despite the demand, very few actually went looking for them.

The reason was simple: in this Extraordinary World, the "King" at the very top must be the strongest!

The unique nature of the Path of the Gods could effectively limit the strength of one’s subordinates; the Path of the Demon Beasts could not make the same guarantee.

Just imagine, would a Tier Four Knight willingly obey the commands of a Tier Three Knight?

Of course not!

Due to the influence of these various factors, High Level Furnace Skills were almost exclusively created by Knights of commoner origin. They had the need, they were under pressure, and likewise, they had the room to grow.

After all, they didn’t have a father overhead who was constantly worried about being usurped by his son.

Of course, such a situation was unlikely to happen in the Solomon Clan—at least, not in its current state. Nevertheless, their quest to collect the skills was not going smoothly.

They had managed to collect a fair number of Tier Three Furnace Skills and even obtained two Tier Four ones. But that was the limit, and those two weren’t much different from the one their family already possessed.

Undoubtedly, barring some earth-shattering fortuitous encounter, they would likely have to tread the path of creating their own skill. This was one of the reasons why Caesar bought every single Furnace Skill, even though they didn’t meet his requirements.

What he hadn’t expected was that his third brother had also started researching Furnace Skills—and a Furnace Skill for Melting Divine Power, no less...

’Who... who inspired him this time?’
