Chapter 493: Chapter 358: The Star Mage’s Path Forward (Part 3)
It’s not that simple. The path of a Legendary Mage isn’t forged by casually merging powers. Just like brewing a Magic Potion, it requires a precise formula. Perhaps in the future, Star Mages will be able to forge their own path, concocting a power formula unique to them and turning it into a supreme path to power, just like that of the Legendary Mages!
But for now, Isaac lacked the ability to do so. It was grueling work—with no reference data, it was a pure process of elimination, figuring things out bit by bit. A task like this could only be left to the Star Mages of the future.
The path of the Arcanist, after all, was also developed over time through the research of countless Wizards.
In the nine experiments that followed, Isaac continuously optimized the fusion ritual, finally stabilizing it to a degree that even a Tier One Mage could set up.
Yes, a Tier One Mage.
This meant that Isaac’s experiments with fusion for Star Mage Apprentices had failed.
No, that wasn’t entirely true.
The ritual itself was a success; the apprentices had smoothly advanced to Tier One and gained the ability to cast independently. However, that particular fusion ritual was paradoxically more difficult, requiring a Tier Two Star Mage to perform it.
Most importantly, there was no significant difference between fusing with the Shadow of the Star God upon advancing to Tier One and waiting until Tier Two to do so—the outcome was identical.
Therefore, from that perspective, the experiment on the apprentices was clearly a failure.
However, it wasn’t a major setback. After all, the true bottlenecks on the Star Mage path were advancing from Tier Two to Three and from Tier Three to Four. Advancement through the first two Tiers could be achieved simply by following a routine of Meditation.
Moreover, the process of constantly optimizing the ritual led Isaac to overturn his previous conclusions. The path of the Star Mage was not a dead end after all, and there was indeed a potential solution to the problem of power purity.
However, realizing this potential was not something he could accomplish alone. It would require countless Star Mages to test the path, step by step.
The only thing he could do, like the pioneers who researched the Arcane Arts before him, was to leave behind a general framework with a high probability of success: distribute the power purification process evenly across each Level.
They shouldn’t try to accomplish it all in one fell swoop, but instead integrate it as a part of their ongoing practice.
Isaac wasn’t certain if this method was correct, however. There was far too much missing data, and he thought it was entirely possible that future Star Mages would discover a better way.
In the laboratory, watching the jubilant crowd, the corners of Isaac’s mouth lifted into a faint smile. ’No matter,’ he thought. ’It might not be perfect, but this experiment can finally be considered a success.’
Isaac raised his head toward the sky. He could feel a certain power gathering there.
’It’s a bit like the ritual from the Wilderness Dungeon, but... it also seems slightly different...’
The next moment, a stream of information flowed into Isaac’s mind, revealing the ritual’s name and purpose: Rebirth in Desperation!
"Hm?" Isaac’s brow furrowed slightly. ’It isn’t a ritual for advancement? Is that because of the difference between worlds, or the difference in our circumstances?’
But his brow was only furrowed for a moment before it relaxed. ’There’s too little data. It’s pointless to speculate. I’d be better off considering what kind of power I’m about to receive.’
Unlike the ascension ritual in the Wilderness Dungeon, this one required no external intervention to complete. It was much simpler, more akin to a gift.
The consciousness of the world was just that straightforward. Even though Isaac had invaded It and planned to fuse It with the Real World, as long as he made a contribution, It would still bestow a gift!
And It would not hold back in the slightest!
