Chapter 485: Chapter 355: Black Iron Law? No, Divine Law

Without this, how would anyone know which God you believe in?

It’s not that you couldn’t generate the Power of Faith, but it could easily be... poached. By a Deity—no, to be more precise these days, by another person!

After all, that’s how the Knights of God first came to be...

And yet, the power they wielded was undeniably that of the Star God, which made things very interesting.

Unfortunately, Soron lacked the ability to complete this "very interesting" research himself. That was a job for his master, Isaac. Soron’s goal was simply to see if he could develop a "Star Ceremony" suitable for a Goblin Slayer by studying the promotion ritual of the Star Knights.

Even more unfortunately, his research in this area had yielded few results.

His only notable achievement was a slight increase in the Star Ceremony’s survival rate, which had earned him the gratitude of many Black Knights... ℴ

In the dim laboratory, the twisted corpses of goblins floated in glass jars filled with a green Magic Power solution. Soron, shrouded in a black aura, stood before a twitching, muscular goblin, deftly wielding a scalpel. Each slice peeled back the goblin’s tissues, laying bare its internal structures for all to see.

The reason for resorting to such a primitive method was mainly because Soron, unlike Isaac, did not possess the [Analysis] Authority. For many things, this was the only way for him to see them clearly.

After all, the amount of Magic Power contained within a muscular goblin was not insignificant. Simply using Magic Perception would introduce a considerable margin of error.

As he dissected the goblin, Soron glanced up at the sky, his brow furrowed. ’The World Wall has been lifted, hasn’t it? Why hasn’t Master arrived yet?’

He had a bellyful of questions he wanted to ask his master.

But he was just a Servant Demon. If Isaac didn’t come, there was nothing he could do. So, he could only wait in anticipation while continuing his dissection of the goblin.

...

Meanwhile, Isaac, having entered the Little World as a streak of light, did not head to Soron’s location first. The research on Star Mages that Soron was responsible for was not something that could be resolved in a short amount of time.

Before that, he was more interested in seeing something he had been anticipating for a long time—the Silver Law!

Thus, after entering the Little World, Isaac flew directly toward the Royal Hall.

When Isaac arrived, the Black Knight and the White-haired Wizard, Gandalf, were already waiting for him. Although they had been preparing for this day for three full years, their feelings were still rather complicated now that the moment had arrived.

Isaac, however, paid them no mind. He simply extended his right hand toward Gandalf with a hint of anticipation.

"Let me see it."

Gandalf didn’t hesitate. He clasped his hands together, then gently pulled them apart. A silver sphere of light materialized between them. With a push, the silver sphere flew to Isaac. This was the true form of the Silver Law.

Gandalf remained composed throughout the exchange. This was, after all, something they had long since agreed upon. That was one reason. The other was his belief that Isaac couldn’t simply take the Silver Law.

The foundation of the Silver Law was rooted in the people of their Little World. Even someone as powerful as Isaac would have to accept all of them—even if only as a nominal leader—if he wanted the Silver Law for himself.

But that was clearly impossible. Over the past three years, Gandalf had come to roughly understand Philo’s path. Her Magic was similar to the Silver Law; it also required her to become their leader. The two were in conflict.

And given Philo’s Level and background, it was highly unlikely she would be interested in his crude Silver Law. In the end, he would almost certainly be the one to use it, which was why he handed it over so readily.

Isaac, however, paid no mind to Gandalf’s ulterior motives. After taking the Silver Law, a faint light flickered in his eyes as lines of data shimmered in and out of existence before them.

In the process, the Silver Law’s radiance gradually dissipated, revealing its true form to Gandalf’s astonished eyes: a sphere composed of densely packed, orbiting Magic Texts!

Those lines of Magic Texts were the rules of the Silver Law. They were in constant motion, a flow that continuously absorbed the will of the masses and Magic Power, allowing it to spontaneously evolve toward the ultimate Golden Law. However, this process was exceedingly slow. Without a Wizard’s aid, it might not reach the stage of a Golden Law even after several thousand years.

But that wasn’t the point. Gandalf watched Isaac study the Silver Law with a grave expression. Honestly, after seeing this, a fleeting thought of following Isaac crossed his mind, even though he had heard from the Black Knight just how insane Isaac was!

The radiant layer on the Silver Law’s surface was no mere decoration; it was a protective barrier spontaneously formed by the vast, unrestrained Magic Power contained within.

Even for him, the Silver Law’s actual controller, dispelling it would take several hours. Yet in Isaac’s hands, it had lasted only a few seconds...

However, an even greater shock was yet to come...

After a moment of careful Observation, Isaac nodded thoughtfully. He raised his left hand, clenched it into a fist, then opened it. A sphere radiating a golden brilliance appeared in his palm!

"Is that... the Golden Law?!" The Black Knight’s eyes widened, feeling the faint power of the Law emanating from Isaac’s left hand. He was shocked beyond measure.

"No! It’s not the Golden Law! The advancement of a Law must be progressive, step by step. The process can be infinitely shortened, but it cannot be skipped!" Compared to the Black Knight, who was merely a user, Gandalf, the owner, quickly came to his senses after the initial shock.

That, however, was the extent of his understanding. He couldn’t comprehend anything more.

"Not bad." Isaac gave Gandalf an approving look and explained, "This is indeed not the Golden Law. It can’t even be considered a Law at all, merely the prototype of a Black Iron Law."

"A Black Iron Law?" The Black Knight was taken aback, a suspicious expression soon crossing his face.

’I may not be well-read, but don’t try to pull one over on me. The power of the Law within this thing may be scant, but its quality is far superior to the Silver Law. How could this be a Black Iron Law? You’ve got to be kidding me!’

Of course, the Black Knight only dared to mutter these doubts in his heart. He didn’t dare voice them aloud; he wasn’t tired of living just yet.

Gandalf, however, wore a pensive expression.

"Figured it out?" Seeing Gandalf’s expression, Isaac smiled. "That’s right. Although this is a Black Iron Law, its foundation is different, so its power is much greater. An Ordinary Law is created from the foundation of human Faith. The one in my hand, however, was created from the Divine Thought of a Deity. To be precise, it should be called a Divine Law!"

"A Divine Law?!" The Black Knight and Gandalf’s eyes widened simultaneously as they stared in disbelief at the golden sphere in Isaac’s hand.

If a Law created from human Faith could be so powerful, just how strong would a Divine Law created from Divine Thought be?

As the thought crossed their minds, both men froze. They then turned to stare at Isaac in horror, for they had both realized the same thing: regardless of a Law’s Level, its wielder must be a King!

In the hands of a Wizard, the requirements might be slightly more lenient—a position of leadership would suffice; one wouldn’t necessarily have to be a King.

But at the moment of its initial creation, the status of a [King] was essential. Only a [King] could establish a Law. This was a conceptual limitation.

In that case, Isaac, the creator of this Divine Law... didn’t that make him...

A Divine King?!

Seeing their shocked expressions, Isaac chuckled and explained, "Don’t let your imaginations run wild. I’m no Divine King. I just borrowed the status temporarily. It’s not a difficult thing for a Wizard to do. Besides, someone created a Divine Law long before I did. They just ended up destroying it."

"...Destroyed it?" The Black Knight, still reeling from the shock, asked subconsciously. ’Such a powerful thing... and someone just destroyed it?’

"Yes." Isaac nodded, giving a simple answer. "Because they couldn’t control it."
