Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 470 - 349: Silver Law

Beneath the Star Realm Gate, deep within the Central Mage Tower of Ophelia Royal Capital, stood three robed figures—one in gold, two in white. They were none other than Isaac, Angel, and Philo. Isaac and Angel wore the white robes, while Philo was clad in an exceptionally magnificent golden one.

The Star Realm Gate stood a full twenty-three meters tall with an astonishing width of seven meters. The top of the portal was a semicircular arch, and its two thick, heavy doors were engraved with a multitude of complex, Mysterious magic runes. Even while inactive, one could sense the powerful fluctuations of Magic Power gathering upon it.

Gazing up at the towering Star Realm Gate, Isaac and Angel were in awe. Leave it to the filthy rich; they were truly loaded!

Thirteen Mage Towers!

For a moment, Isaac felt a pang of regret for rejecting the Emperor's offer. If he had become Philo's teacher, all of this would have likely been his!

If he had gotten his hands on this many materials, he wouldn't have done something as foolish as building thirteen Mage Towers just for a power supply. With this many resources, he could have cut a few corners on the specs and built an entire Floating City. Why bother with Mage Towers!

But alas, there were no what-ifs. Some opportunities, once missed, were gone for good.

At this thought, Isaac couldn't help glancing at Angel beside him. 'This one's loaded, too,' he mused. Her robe, gloves, necklace, earrings, and even her boots—not a single piece was an Ordinary item. Their quality was easily on par with Philo's golden robe.

He, on the other hand...

...aside from the accessory transformed from his Virtual Deity, was dressed in the "starter gear" of a Legendary Mage.

In other words, the standard Wizard's Three-piece Set of robes and a Magic Staff. Although the set had been Enhanced to varying degrees after his promotion to Tier Three, it was no match for the gear the two women wore—especially Philo's.

After all, she had a Wizard's Three-piece Set as well. Strictly speaking, the set was merely a tangible manifestation of the Concept of a Wizard. It could be bound to other pieces of equipment, not only retaining its own power but also enhancing the item it was bound to, creating a synergistic effect where the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.

Unfortunately, Isaac was very poor...

Most of his funds went toward his research, leaving him no spare resources to purchase such a fine set of gear for himself.

However, the twinge of bitterness in Isaac's heart lasted only for a moment before he cast it aside. 'After all, the truly powerful don't need to rely on external items!'

'That kind of power is true power!'

'Yes! He was pursuing that kind of power, which was why he hadn't bought any gear. It was definitely not because he was broke!'

'Definitely not!'

"Hm? What's wrong?" Angel turned to Isaac, sensing the sudden, slight intensity in his feelings.

"Nothing," he said. "Just marveling at how rich they are."

Angel fell silent for a moment, then turned to look at the towering Star Realm Gate and nodded quietly. On this subject, she had more right to speak than Isaac.

After all, she had only relinquished her hatred for Philo under the Terra Kingdom's financial assault. It wasn't something she wanted to do, if she'd had a choice. The Terra Kingdom's remaining Demigod, while powerful, seemed to have some sort of flaw and couldn't act as freely as the Emperor. Otherwise, the Empire would not be in its present state.

Thus, the pressure from that Demigod hadn't been a major concern for her. Witches, as everyone knew, were famous for their unity!

But the Terra Kingdom... they had just offered so much...

At this thought, Angel let out a soft sigh. She felt tainted, having abandoned the hatred in her heart for the sake of wealth.

After accepting the Terra Kingdom's deal, Angel truly had let go of her hatred for Philo. At the end of the day, that hatred was little more than resentment. As Philo herself had said, she hadn't strictly done anything *to* Angel; she had merely stood by and watched. Without Philo, her childhood might have been even more miserable.

Of course, her lack of deep-seated hatred was only one factor. The other was that the opportunity for revenge was gone. The Terra Demigod had bought Philo a hundred years' time. Within that century, the enmity between them had to vanish. After the hundred years were up, Angel would be free to do as she pleased.

Angel didn't believe this timeframe was chosen arbitrarily. In other words, in the Demigod's eyes, Philo had a very real chance of advancing to Tier Five within a century!

And once she reached Tier Five, with the immense wealth left behind by the Terra Kingdom, they could simply use their resources to brute-force her advancement into a Demigod!

Faced with this reality, Angel could only choose to let go of her hatred. This was also the advice given to her by the Demigod of the Witch Country. The moment she released her obsession, she instantly felt a great sense of relief.

It wasn't a psychological relief, but rather a social one.

In truth, she faced a situation similar to Isaac's: she had advanced so quickly that she had very few friends. Take exploring the New World, for example. Even in the Witch Country, renowned for its unity, one couldn't just casually form a team.

On the contrary, Witches had even higher standards for their companions!

After all, due to their troubled childhoods, every Witch had some psychological issues, more or less. Offering help to one another was one thing, but fighting side-by-side? That was a different story, and simply not possible on short notice.

Therefore, much like Isaac, the only person she could team up with to explore the New World in the near future was Philo!

So, once she had this realization, she immediately agreed to the Terra Demigod's terms.

And, just as expected, Philo's invitation soon followed.
