Chapter 124: Chapter 100: Real Time and Annihilation Particles
"For an ordinary Second Level Apprentice, mastering even one of them is already impressive, let alone combining them."
Haimer sighed. "Star Force Field is different from Elemental Storm. The Witchcraft System of Elemental Storm has a low threshold. Any apprentice stepping into the Wizard World for the first time can start their cultivation as long as they can perceive elements.
"Since you have a lot of people and a large base, it’s naturally easier for a batch of highly talented apprentices to emerge. It’s nothing unusual."
He paused before continuing, "But it’s a completely different story on my side. The very first step of Star Force Field, Force Touch Perception, filters out the vast majority of people.
"Those without the Force Field Affinity Talent can’t even get their foot in the door.
"Because of this, there are exceedingly few people in Starfall Laboratory who can cultivate the core inheritance. So, don’t try to poach my people."
Olivia looked thoughtful. "I can refrain from poaching him, but I’m afraid some people won’t be able to sit still."
Haimer rubbed his temples. If the people from Flesh Abyss discovered Chen Shang’s special talent, they might actually resort to force.
Moreover, based on his own observations, that thing called Zhong Kui the little guy was tinkering with was also quite remarkable. If it was successfully created, it would definitely attract a lot of attention. He couldn’t just forbid Chen Shang from researching Biological Runes.
In the past, it wouldn’t have mattered. He was just a Second Level Apprentice; sending him to Flesh Abyss would still guarantee him excellent cultivation resources.
But not anymore. He already viewed Chen Shang as his next-generation successor, ideally the one to take over his position.
Thinking of this, Haimer couldn’t help but grit his teeth. Those little bastards he had taught scattered to who knows where the moment they gained a bit of strength. They all hid far away, terrified of having to come back and take over Starfall Laboratory.
They left him stuck as the headmaster for hundreds of years, causing his own projects to be delayed.
Seeing Haimer’s silence, Olivia smiled. "How about this? Let him join Elemental Storm as a visiting member. He doesn’t need to leave Starfall, nor does he need to switch his cultivation path. He can just come to exchange ideas, attend lectures, and use our laboratories.
"His Water-Fire Fusion model still requires a massive amount of verification, right? You know better than I do that Starfall’s elemental experimental equipment isn’t sufficient."
Haimer thought it over. He had no reason to refuse this proposal; some of Elemental Storm’s equipment was indeed beyond compare to what Starfall had.
If Chen Shang wanted to push his Water-Fire Heaven Extremes from a twenty-fold leverage to a thirty- or forty-fold leverage, he would need a much higher-precision testing environment.
Furthermore, Elemental Storm possessed a far more detailed database.
"Let him decide for himself."
Olivia nodded. "Alright, I’ll go see him."
***
Chen Shang hadn’t given up on the annihilation particles.
That fleeting burst of Chaos-colored light at the center of the explosion seemed like the trace of some deeper Law leaking out.
He repeatedly played back the brief footage recorded by his Eye of True Sight. Every time he watched it, he felt that something incredibly important was hidden within that ball of light.
However, he couldn’t find a way to actively trigger it, and the one-twenty-fourth of a second real-time gap wasn’t something he could consciously perceive.
That would require much sharper perception and finer Spiritual Power control than he currently possessed.
"What if the Eye of True Sight could advance another step?" Chen Shang muttered to himself.
The Eye of True Sight had currently gathered three elements: Earth, Water, and Wind. It was only missing the Fire Element to complete the four Basic Elements.
The clues for the Fire Elemental Eye pointed to the Red Flame Realm. For a Second Level Apprentice, this was a dangerous Plane. It wasn’t just the volatile Elemental Spirits; the environment of this Plane itself was pure torture for a human.
Its surface was covered in magma rivers, the atmosphere contained high concentrations of the Fire Element, and the temperature consistently remained above 300 degrees year-round.
Chen Shang pondered for a moment. With his current Attack Power, relying on Water-Fire Heaven Extremes, he could stably output over 1,600 degrees. His instantaneous burst could even touch the edge of 2,000 degrees. This was already no different from an ordinary Third Level Apprentice; in fact, some couldn’t even match him.
But Attack Power didn’t equate to survivability.
His Defense Power was still at the level of a Second Level Apprentice. The Monatomic Heavy Water Shield certainly couldn’t block the attacks of certain Third Level Apprentices.
If he absolutely had to go, he needed a Witch Artifact to protect himself—the kind of protective gear that could withstand extreme high temperatures and block attacks from High Tier Creatures.
Just as he was thinking about this, KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK sounded at the laboratory door. It was three unhurried knocks, consistent in force and evenly spaced.
Chen Shang opened the door. Outside stood a woman in a deep blue robe. She looked to be in her forties, with her hair pinned up behind her head. Her face was free of wrinkles, and her eyes were gentle yet bright.
Pinned to her chest was a silvery-white badge—the emblem of Elemental Storm.
"Chen Shang?" Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was very clear.
"Yes, I am. May I ask who you are?"
"Olivia. Third Level Wizard of Elemental Storm," she said with a slight nod. "I read your paper. It’s very well written."
"You flatter me," Chen Shang said, filled with awe and trepidation. He had published the paper firstly to complete a task, and secondly to earn some money. He never expected it would prompt a Third Level Wizard to seek him out. He quickly stepped aside to let her in.
Olivia walked into the laboratory. Her gaze swept across the Recording Platform, paused for a split second on Zhong Kui’s body, and then moved away.
She mused that it was no wonder Haimer was worried about the little guy being seen by the people from Flesh Abyss.
She then looked toward Surtr in the Temperature-Controlled District. The large Magma Giant cub was currently lying on the ground, fast asleep.
"A Magma Giant cub. You taught it this Flame Rune."
"Yes, its Fire Element talent is quite high," Chen Shang quickly explained.
Olivia nodded, her gaze then falling onto the windowsill.
The Golden Crow was currently squatting there obediently, not even daring to breathe too loudly. Despite its usual noisiness, this fellow was only tough on its own turf.
Olivia stared at it for a few seconds, a hint of surprise in her tone. "The Dream Crow’s talent isn’t in flames, is it? Did you carve the Samadhi True Fire Rune onto its body?"
Chen Shang nodded somewhat awkwardly. "I have some new ideas regarding its biological design, so I’m attempting to make it evolve toward a Fire Elemental Creature."
"That just shows your elemental talent is quite good." Olivia nodded. Seeing the things in Chen Shang’s laboratory, she felt as if she could see the developmental trajectory of Water-Fire Heaven Extremes.
