Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 316 - 317: Fleece the Sheep, Squeeze It Dry
Chapter 316: Chapter 317: Fleece the Sheep, Squeeze It Dry
"Them? Go on, ask them if they’d dare."
The Dean looked at Munger and the others, the smile on his face growing wider.
"They all have their own masters. And which of their masters isn’t a Moonlight?"
"Those masters never became deans themselves. If their disciples took the position instead, do you think their masters would approve?"
"If their masters questioned them, would they dare?"
The Dean’s barrage of questions made Andre feel a bit dizzy.
"But, Dean, building an institute requires too much preparation. I have absolutely no experience, and I’ve never dealt with this sort of thing before. How am I supposed to build a branch institute when you just throw the task at me?"
Andre spread his hands, indicating he really couldn’t do it.
"No problem. The Main Institute has many files on building branch institutes. Later, you can pull a few from the mothership and see if any are suitable."
Facing Andre’s problem, the Dean waved his hand dismissively, indicating it was a small matter.
It was just files for building a branch institute. The Main Institute had as many as one could want.
The Main Institute currently ruled over three World Groups. Within them, there were well over a hundred branch institutes, so there were more than enough files to go around.
"No, Dean, what I mean is, building a branch institute requires too many materials. For example, the Wizard Inheritance Hall, the mission hall, and the various halls for different functional departments—all of these require special, specific materials."
"Also, if we’re building a branch institute, we have to set up a Witchcraft Array suitable for it, right?"
"The Cosmic Sea World is an Infinite World. The Witchcraft Array for the branch institute has to be at least on par with the Main Institute’s, right?"
"Even if it’s one Realm lower than the Main Institute’s, it would still require a Moonlight Great Mage to control. I’m just a Level 3 Wizard. That’s a leap of two Realms. I really can’t handle it."
Andre looked at the captain, then at the Dean who was dead set on making him responsible for building the branch institute, and his brow furrowed deeply.
Meanwhile, his mind raced, desperately searching for a way to refuse the request.
Soon, Andre found his angle: the Witchcraft Array required for the branch institute.
"Hmm, that is indeed an issue."
"But it’s fine, we can take it slow. As the branch institute is built, the Witchcraft Array can also be filled in gradually."
After hearing Andre’s words, the Dean frowned, but a solution quickly appeared in his mind.
"Huh? Building it in batches? Dean, I’ve never heard of such a thing."
Andre stared at the Dean, his eyes wide.
’A Witchcraft Array? Who builds those in pieces? Even for the Ten Thousand Laws Wheel he’d forged for himself, he had to inscribe the Witchcraft Arrays linking the various Magic Discs all at once.’
"Have you never heard of three-dimensional arrays?"
The Dean looked at Andre, a puzzled expression on his face.
"Three-dimensional arrays? That stuff costs several times more than planar arrays!"
Andre looked at the Dean, feeling a headache coming on.
"Yes, several times more. But aren’t you the Child of the World for this world? The entire world’s resources are yours to use. What do you have to worry about in terms of cost?"
The Dean clapped his hands together, his puzzled expression quickly turning into a smug one.
It was the kind of look that made one want to punch him in the face.
"Ah, so I’m paying?!" Andre pointed at the Dean, so angry he was almost speechless.
"Aren’t you?" the Dean retorted.
"I can pay for part of it, but there’s no reason for me to pay for the whole thing."
"You’re well aware that the Cosmic Sea World just finished its ascension not long ago. Many rare minerals and Magic Plants haven’t been nurtured by the world yet. Where am I supposed to find these materials for you?"
Andre looked at the Dean, completely exasperated.
’So that’s how it is. The institute’s found a fat sheep in me and plans to fleece me for all I’m worth.’
"This entire Level 5 World is yours. Even I am not as wealthy as you. Not to mention, these resources can be continuously nurtured by the world."
"Under these circumstances, if you don’t pay up, it would be really unreasonable!"
The Dean saw Andre’s eyes go wide, so he widened his own eyes and stared fixedly at Andre.
"Didn’t I just say? I can pay for part of it."
"But you know it too! Some of the rarer Magic Plants and minerals haven’t been created yet. Where am I supposed to get them for you."
By the end, Andre was so angry he even dropped the honorifics.
"We’ll take it slow. The institute can’t be built in a day. By the time it’s nearly finished, those resources will have been nurtured."
The Dean looked at Andre with an expression that clearly said, "I’m going to fleece you, and there’s nothing you can do about it."
"Then I won’t build this institute, how about that!"
Andre glared at the shameless man before him, so furious he was grinding his teeth.
"You are now the honorary vice dean of the branch institute. You have to shoulder this responsibility."
The Dean brought up the matter of the vice dean position again.
"I never wanted the vice dean position in the first place."
"I’ll leave the Cosmic Sea World right now. You can build it yourselves, how about that?"
As soon as Andre said this, a nine-colored beam of light descended from the sky, forming a nine-colored halo behind him.
The halo spun continuously before stabilizing. On the other side of the halo, the Power of World Origin churned without cease.
"I’ll have the world consciousness send me to another world right now."
Andre said, looking at the wide-eyed captain and Dean.
The moment Andre finished speaking, the halo behind him began to change. It eventually transformed into a silvery-white light, which then stabilized into a portal.
On the other side of the portal was another world.
"So, how about it now?"
Andre postured as if he was about to step through the portal into the unknown world behind him.
"Wait, wait! Can’t we discuss this a little? Don’t just up and leave, okay?"
The Dean and the Captain quickly raised their hands, each grabbing one of Andre’s arms.
The two of them hadn’t expected Andre’s authority in the Cosmic Sea World to be so immense.
Basically, whatever Andre said, the world consciousness would respond.
Even with Andre being the Child of the World, the world consciousness of the Cosmic Sea World actually took the initiative to open a spatial passage and send him to another world according to his wishes.
This situation was a real eye-opener for the Dean and the captain.
"The reason I’m making you responsible for building the branch institute is that I’m worried you’re advancing too quickly."
"Didn’t you say it yourself? You’ve only read a third of the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia for Level 2 Wizards."
"If you go to another world now, what if you gain the acknowledgment of its world consciousness, become a Child of the World again, and receive an infusion of the Power of World Origin? Your foundation will be unstable!"
The Dean looked at Andre and reluctantly revealed his true reason for having him build the branch institute.
