With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1597: These experiments are…
The interior of this lab wasn’t as fancy as Lin Fan had expected it to be.
In fact, it even seemed a bit basic compared to what he had seen.
He was someone that already had a taste of the technology of that technologically advanced continent since he had already seen their ships. So he wasn’t someone that could be considered on the same level as the others of this cultivation continent.
So to Lin Fan, every part of this lab seemed basic compared to what he thought a research lab should be like.
It even seemed like the technology in this lab wasn’t even on the same level as the technology in his past life.
He had his hopes up because he saw the passcode lock on the door, but now it didn’t seem like there was much to hold out hope for. It really felt like this place couldn’t even compare to the level of technology in his past life.
The lights that were above them clearly weren’t electric as they could see the spirit stones that were inserted into them. But the fact that the lights were still working after all this time meant that there was some kind of technology that was powering it.
From the flow of energy inside of these lights, it seemed like there was some kind of setup that was supplying spiritual energy to the spirit stones inside of the lights.
Perhaps that was what the Dao Sect had learned with what they had brought back.
Perhaps there were plans to make things better, but they never got the chance in the end.
So instead of continuing to judge this place based on the lights alone, Lin Fan focused on what else was around them. It was just that the only thing that was actually there were a bunch of locked doors.
All of these doors had the same thing as the main door, there was this panel that was on them that prevented others from entering unless they had the password.
However, they didn’t actually approach any of the doors since there was no telling just what was hidden behind these doors. It would have been too hasty to have Xiao Mu hack into the door panels and brute force them open.
If there was some kind of dangerous experiment hidden behind one of these doors, they might not even know how they died in the end.
But it wasn’t as if they could just go around like this forever.
So in the end, Lin Fan took out the token and held it up in front of him.
The way that he was holding up the token was as if he was trying to see if there was something that would attract the token to it. He wanted to see if there was something that was powerful enough that it would make the token resonate with it.
Anything that was powerful enough to create a resonance with the token was without a doubt one of the key experiments of the former Dao Sect.
It was just that there wasn’t any kind of response that came from the token.
With how silent it was, one might have even thought that it was broken.
If not for the fact that Lin Fan could feel some kind of sensation from the token, he might have also thought that it was broken.
But if it wasn’t broken and it just wasn’t giving him any reaction, then did that really mean that there was nothing worth caring about in this place?
The more that he saw this reaction, the more that Lin Fan felt disappointed.
Coming all this way just to give up here seemed like it would have been a waste.
Since there was no response from the token, the only thing that they could do was test the waters and try their luck.
Lin Fan looked at Xiao Mu and asked, "Which one do you feel good about?"
Xiao Mu had been leading the way forward, but it hadn’t stopped at any of the locked doors that they passed. It seemed like Xiao Mu also didn’t feel anything good coming from those doors, which was why it didn’t do anything.
Hearing what Lin Fan asked, Xiao Mu turned around and looked at him with a trace of disappointment in its eyes.
From this, Lin Fan could tell that Xiao Mu had been doing the same thing as him. Xiao Mu had been focused on the different doors and trying to find one that appealed to it just like he had done with the token.
But in the end, neither of them were able to find anything.
In the end, it was a bust since there were no clues for them to follow.
"Just choose one that you think is good."
Xiao Mu was caught off guard hearing this from Lin Fan, but it gave a nod to confirm this before moving to a door that was right in front of it. The way that Xiao Mu moved was almost as if Xiao Mu wasn’t thinking this through at all.
However, Xiao Mu had actually put in quite a bit of thought into this.
"It doesn’t matter which door since there’s nothing that would tell us if it contains anything good. In that case, it’s best to just start opening doors and seeing if we can find anything there."
Xiao Mu was able to read through the situation and chose to act right away instead of wasting time.
Though it was a surprise to find that the door opened right away.
"What did you do?" Lin Fan couldn’t help asking when he saw this.
Xiao Mu also seemed surprised as it said, "I just tested it since I wasn’t sure if it would work, but I never thought that it would actually work."
"Test what?" There was a strange feeling that filled Lin Fan when he asked this. It was almost as if he already had the answer to his question before he even asked it.
"I just used the same password." Xiao Mu slowly said in a strange tone.
Hearing this, Lin Fan’s face couldn’t help twitching a few times.
Even if he had already guessed that this was the case, he didn’t think that they would actually do something like this. After all, they would know that using the same password for something like this would be a serious security risk.
But then again, it wasn’t as if there was anyone that was trying to break into this lab in the first place.
"Perhaps that’s why they used the same password? It would be troublesome to remember different passwords and it isn’t as if anyone that isn’t authorized would come to this place..."
Still, that couldn’t have been the only reason that they used the same password for all of these doors.
The only other explanation for this was...
"They’re cultivators after all, it’s not as if they would think of things like password security."
This was more of an issue in a more technologically advanced world where people would be able to hack passwords.
In this cultivation world, there wasn’t anyone that could hack the password to the door like Xiao Mu did. In Xiao Mu’s case, it was considered a special case since Xiao Mu had the power of its AI behind it as well as the technology that was used to create Xiao Mu.
All of these things really were on a different scale from this backwards cultivation world.
Once the door opened, they looked into the room to see what it held.
It was just that the moment that they looked in, it wasn’t as if there was anything that really surprised them.
The only one that was surprised was Ye Qing Huan and that was only because she wasn’t used to seeing this kind of technology.
For Lin Fan and Xiao Mu who were more familiar with technology, the only feeling that these experiments invoked in them was...
"These experiments are a bit too basic, aren’t they?"
No matter how the two of them looked at it, they could see that the technology that was used in these experiments were just too simple compared to what would be used in a more technologically advanced society.
This was the kind of stuff that would be treated as child’s play.
Yet the way that this experiment was arranged in this room really showed that the ones that had conducted the experiment took it very seriously.
"No, no, no, this doesn’t make any sense at all...if they could use AI to create a training dummy like Xiao Mu that even gained sentience, then why would they experiment with something as simple as this?" Lin Fan just couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
In the end, he wasn’t able to figure anything out from what was in the room. It didn’t seem like the researchers that had been conducting the experiment here had left any records.
Or if they did, it wasn’t as if they would have left it in the same room as the experiment.
If there were records, then it would be placed in a storage room somewhere with the rest of the facility’s records.
"Let’s take a look at another one of the rooms." Lin Fan suggested after a long silence.
Xiao Mu came back to its senses when it heard this and it nodded in agreement before turning to another one of the doors.
It turned out that this door also used the same password as the other doors.
Once they were through, it was the same thing where the contents of the experiment were very basic.
"Just what were they trying to do here?"
