Chapter 1486: Chapter 1486: They’re Simply Inhuman

Good, that’s good. If the person tailing him really is Maxwell Saxon, then this time, he definitely won’t let him walk away.

Letting a tiger return to the mountain is the kind of dangerous thing that, once you’ve done it once, is already completely irrational. He will never do it a second time.

Seven-thirty in the evening in Z City—turn to the other side of the globe, and it’s a little past three in the morning.

Right now, it’s still winter in Z City, the temperature often a few degrees below zero, but in another tropical city, it’s the height of summer.

The stifling heat pressed down on the entire city like a giant furnace, even the seawater was warm to the touch.

The countryside outside X City wasn’t one of those typical farming villages ringed by mountains and shaded with trees on all sides.

In most rural areas, summers are four or five degrees cooler than the city, because there are more trees planted, shade everywhere, and there’s no kind of exhaust or pollution. Whether it’s the air or the temperature, everything’s much better than in the city.

But in X City, the countryside was just as scorching as the city. In terms of basic comforts, almost every household in town had air-conditioning, while out here in this barren place where people still built houses out of mud, even owning an electric fan was a luxury.

So not everyone got to enjoy a fan, and in a room where a group of women were penned up like livestock, there was even less chance of such a thing.

The room was only five or six square meters, pitch-black, and the one lightbulb that was on glowed so dimly it was like trying to set the mood for a horror movie.

This kind of space where even one person would feel cramped—calling it a "room" was putting it nicely. In reality, it was no different from a cowshed.

They had actually locked six women inside this mud-plastered shack.

Aside from the door, there wasn’t even a single window. Once the door was shut, the air inside was suffocating and scorching, like sitting in a steam sauna. Stay in there long enough and you’d feel like you were about to pass out.

If you could really faint, that might be something. But the torture was that you felt unbearably awful, yet couldn’t black out, forced to live through every second of it. That was the worst kind of suffering.

"Wuu... wuu..."

"Are we going to die in here?"

"Animals, those people are animals, they’re not even human. I saw it with my own eyes, that bastard beat Fenella to death." A voice, thick with terror, whimpered in the dark. "Fenella died so horribly. He took a steel bar and crushed her skull. When he was beating Fenella, it was like he was beating a dog. The bar was that thick, and he brought it down on her head again and again. Not even half a minute, and blood was pouring out of her mouth and nose."

"Fenella kept begging him to stop. She said, I was wrong, I won’t dare do it again, don’t hit me, please don’t hit me. But that bastard wouldn’t listen. The harder Fenella cried, the happier he laughed, and the harder he swung."

"A steel bar, do you get it? A steel bar, a bar that thick..." As the woman spoke, it was like she was seeing it all over again. Her face went ghost-pale, her body shaking violently from sheer terror. Her dirty features were so grimy you could barely make them out, yet tears still glinted there, flashing on and off. She bit down hard on her lip, forcing her sobs down to the faintest whimper, and choked out in hopeless, shattered sobs, "A steel bar smashing your head open—how much must that hurt? Didn’t you hear how awful Fenella was crying? At first she was still begging for her life, but after a while... there was no sound at all."

"So much blood sprayed out of her mouth, there was a whole pool of it under her head. Her face was beaten out of shape, and when she died her eyes were wide open. She didn’t die with her eyes closed!"
