Chapter 1452: You Are My Wife
Chapter 1452: Chapter 1452: You Are My Wife
He stared straight at Scarlett Yates, and said word by word, "You’re my wife."
Scarlett’s hand trembled, and her heart trembled along with it.
Just such a simple sentence coming out of Matthew Saxon’s mouth, and her heart actually gave a heavy thump.
Matthew kept laying on the sweet talk: "I know I did something really out of line, but Scarlett, you know I lost my memory. The amnesia was because my brain took a hit, so sometimes my head isn’t all that clear, and I might do some irrational things. Can’t you just see me as a patient and not take everything so seriously?"
He even dragged out the "my brain’s not clear" excuse...
She didn’t even know why, but when she heard this so-called excuse, Scarlett kind of wanted to laugh.
It wasn’t that she didn’t have any resentment.
Last night he was so infuriating that she was completely disappointed; for a split second she really felt like her heart had turned to ashes.
She felt like she couldn’t see a shred of hope in him.
But after a whole night, no matter how angry, how resentful she was, it wasn’t as intense as it had been in that moment.
On top of that, Matthew suddenly had an accident; when she got that call from Knox Simmons, she was panicked and flustered all over again—how could she still afford to stay mad at him then.
Now he was apologizing to her again with such a good attitude. On the surface she stayed unmoved, still cold and distant toward him, but in truth a lot of her anger had already faded.
"What kind of patient are you supposed to be?" Scarlett glared at him coolly. "A patient who comes at people all aggressive, with a temper that’s through the roof—no matter how patient someone is, they still wouldn’t be able to stand you. You get sick and suddenly you’re hot stuff, huh? The whole world has to baby you, be considerate of you, and can’t take anything you do to heart, is that it? Otherwise people will call them petty, is that it?"
Her voice was still icy, she didn’t give him any nice expression, but the moment she opened her mouth, Matthew knew he’d nailed what was going on in her heart.
Target the right problem, the key first step is to actually target it...
As long as he had a read on Scarlett’s temper, knew exactly what worked on her, the rest wouldn’t be so hard.
His long, narrow phoenix eyes curved, and a calculating gleam flashed quickly in Matthew’s gaze.
"Then what will it take for you to feel better?" He sounded very sincere. He lowered his head to think for a moment, then said seriously, "How about I go stay outside for a night tonight?"
"If one night isn’t enough, then two nights, three nights?"
Scarlett’s face was still taut, but the coldness in her eyes had begun to melt: "You want me to forgive you? It’s not impossible. As long as you agree to my condition, I’ll go back with you."
Matthew hurriedly asked, "What condition?"
Scarlett’s lips lifted bit by bit. She looked at him, smiling brightly and charmingly: "As long as you’re willing to strip naked and stand outside Saxon Mansion for a whole night, I’ll forgive you."
She was holding a clear crystal glass, her pale fingers resting on the rim. Her nails were a soft pink, like cherry blossoms. The glass, sparkling brilliantly in her hand, set off her hands and made them look even prettier.
After she finished, she smiled again, looking at Matthew with her eyes: "Well? Have you thought it over?"
"Scarlett..." Matthew’s expression froze a little.
"That’s my one condition. Just say whether you agree or not, no need to say anything else."
