Chapter 1389: Chapter 1389: Don’t Let Her Find Out

The woman hadn’t expected him to do that. With that forceful shove, she stumbled a few steps and fell hard to the ground in utter embarrassment.

She didn’t care about the places that hurt from the fall; lifting her head, she stared up at Matthew Saxon in utter shock.

"Young Master Saxon..."

"Get out!"

A naked disgust flashed in those icy, pitch-black eyes.

This man who just a moment ago had been pampering her in every possible way was now looking at her as if she were a fly.

Matthew Saxon’s eyes were full of revulsion. The spectator was gone; he had no intention of wasting even another minute on a woman like this.

He pulled out a handkerchief and scrubbed hard at the spot the woman had just kissed. When he was done, he tossed the handkerchief into the trash with disgust.

The woman stared, stunned, still not fully processing what was happening, and kept calling out in confusion, "Young Master Saxon, I..."

"I’m giving you one minute. Get out, now. Someone will deliver the jadeite jewelry to you. Otherwise, don’t even think about getting a single cent."

The woman froze for a moment, then quickly scrambled up from the floor a few seconds later.

This time, she reacted fast; before Matthew could say anything else, she didn’t even have time to smooth out the wrinkles in her clothes. Clutching her bag tightly, she turned and hurried out.

Not even a minute passed before her figure disappeared.

The disgust in Matthew Saxon’s eyes deepened. He lingered where he was for a moment, then turned decisively and strode out.

He walked as he made a call: "Follow her... yes... don’t let her notice... make sure she’s safe."

"Call me immediately if anything happens."

After he stepped out of the hall, he hung up.

It was indeed freezing outside.

The wind lashed his face, sharp as knives.

The moment he stepped out the door, it was as if a layer of icy air wrapped tightly around him. Even he broke out in goosebumps from the cold.

Let alone someone with a body like Scarlett Yates’s—still not recovered from her illness, unable to withstand the cold. She’d only just broken her fever; after being tossed around like this, if she fell sick again, it would only hit harder.

Matthew Saxon’s mood was a tangled mess.

With Scarlett gone like that, he was both furious and worried.

For a woman so clueless and ungrateful, he really shouldn’t be bothering with her anymore. He’d already given her a chance; she didn’t want it. However she tormented herself after this had nothing to do with him.

With a temper that stubborn, she needed to suffer a little, pay the price for that hardheadedness.

If she doesn’t go through some hardship, she’ll never learn.

But for a sickly woman to run away from home in the middle of the night—how could he really just sit back and ignore it?

Just now, he hadn’t been able to help himself and made a call, telling someone to quietly follow her.

With someone watching over her, at least her safety could be guaranteed.

Having done this much, Matthew felt he’d already gone far enough.

Ideally, she’d be smart enough to go out, taste a bit of bitterness, then come back and obediently admit she was wrong. If she did that, he wouldn’t hold it against her.

If she insisted on being that stubborn and refused to bow her head, then... she could do as she pleased.

There was no reason for him to keep stopping her when she was hell-bent on suffering.

Matthew stood outside for a while. Only when something icy drifted onto his face did he realize it had started snowing again.

The snow wasn’t heavy, like grains of rice, but fairly dense. Each flake hit his face, picked up the warmth of his skin, and melted in an instant.

The icy water seeped into his pores, turning a three-part chill into a five-part freeze. The cold wind knifed across his face, making it feel even more bitterly cold, like blades slicing across his skin.
