Chapter 1907: Cap 1903: The Tomb That Nourishes
Pov Sarazar:
We were surrounded by enemies, yet I was happy. This happiness stemmed from two things: the first was the types of enemies. The Fae, the Undead, and the Ghost Castle are beings who escaped the clutches of death, beings built from the waste of countless lives and existences, beings whose death alone cannot compensate for all that was lost within them. But thanks to Cortana’s power, I can go beyond what death can bring. This realization brought me joy.
The second thing that brought me joy was something more personal, something I was surprised to find within myself: an animalistic instinct for combat, a will to be the end of those around me. Through me, everything will be buried, and from these tombs, everything will be nurtured to a new peak.
“(My lady, how should I proceed in this situation?)” (me)
“…” (me)
I tried to contact my lady Cortana, but she didn’t respond. I knew then that she was leaving everything in my hands. From her training, I knew that her way of teaching was to leave problems in my hands to be resolved or not. She was testing me now in a real situation against real enemies.
“May you all know that death is but a temporary stop on your path.” (me)
I looked at Lolth. She was waiting, waiting for my move to act, but I could feel the power within her gathering. Her target was the Avatar himself. She wasn’t as strong as me. She’d never beaten me in a direct fight, but I’d never beaten her in a training match without rules. Her combat experience and versatility of knowledge surpassed someone like me, who had just been born.
“(Let’s separate these fights!)” (me)
“< Incarnation of Aura: Universal Cemetery >” (me)
All my Aura disappears, the surrounding Demonic space tries to suppress it, but it’s useless. Nothing can completely suppress death. My Aura surges, shattering the space whose Demonic power tries to repair it. But this space is reorganized and flooded with my Lady’s power, forming a barrier, trapping everyone inside.
The barrier was the size of three planets. Within the barrier, I can sense everyone and discover that it wasn’t just Greed’s enemies. I can sense an Ascendant and an unknown Anomalous Creature present. Both were trying unsuccessfully to escape. Of course, there were also a large number of Infernal Creatures nearby.
“(We were being watched…)” (me)
The two surrounding continents were now shattered into thousands of floating islands joined by the petrified roots of a great tree right in the middle of this place where I stood. Each of these islands held tombs of those my power had buried so far.
The enemies were no longer around me, but arrayed before me, with the sole exception being the Avatar of Greed, who stood at the top of the petrified tree alongside Lolth.
“Now it’s just you and me…” (me)
My enemies numbered five in total. Three of them were abominations that degraded my purpose simply by existing. The other two were inferior versions of what I once was: a Dragon whose scales were forged into Divine Artifacts and a Titan made from the accumulation of condensed miasma. I could sense traces of the Concept of Hunger in this Titan.
It seems the enemies weren’t chosen by chance. That old Avatar wanted to offend us, perhaps even divide us, just as I did, but he underestimates us.
“Why fight Phanoth?” (Divine Dragon)
“< Starburst Breath >” (me)
“< Divine Breath >” (Divine Dragon)
“< Divine Death Magic: Death Negation >” (Corpse God)
“< Fairy Magic: Magic Spear >” (Anomalous Fairy)
They knew they were weaker than me, and they tried to compensate with teamwork, each of them acting at the same time as if they knew exactly what to do. I realize that old man must have strategized how to deal with me, but just watching them act, I can see he made the wrong assumption.
The Corpse God was attempting to use various divine powers of death and pulled from its chest what appeared to be an Origin Artifact containing the power of Death. The technique it used seems to directly negate the concept of death at a limited stage. I don’t believe the Entity itself approved such an Artifact, which suggests it was created by other Entities to limit Death.
The Corpse God’s Magic did nothing to me. My mistress’s Concept may be associated with Death, but that’s only a small part of what it represents, not even a significant part. My mistress’s end is the continuation of something new, strengthened by what has already passed.
My Breath attack pierces the magic as if it were nothing, not even affecting anything as if it were a mere illusion. Then it clashes with the other Dragon’s Breath attack. Even though it’s only Divine power, it possesses an impressive amount of raw power.
All of his scales were glowing as his power flowed into his jaws, but even from this distance, I could see the pain he felt in resisting all that raw power. I could see that his scales were forcibly attached to his body, not obeying his Will.
My Breath attack was a liquid distortion of space itself, sucking everything toward me, as if it were a vortex being thrown forward in a straight line.
His Divine power, however great, was sucked away; there was no collision. My attack leveraged against him as it swallowed all that divine power. But before I could get close, the Titan appeared with its great fist, destroying my attack. This made me feel another wave of Concept power.
At that moment, the phantom castle that had become a great Golem advanced toward me, its arm transforming into a claw where Soul energy gathered and launched itself at me in a beam of ethereal white energy.
I didn’t even try to defend myself. As soon as the attack hit my body, it sank, being absorbed into the Universal Tomb within me. An attack based on death energy was so useless against me that it was ignored.
It was at this moment that a 100-kilometer-long spear formed above me, made of all the elements of nature, with a flow of magical elements working within. This spear descended upon me, but failed to hit me. Petrified branches collided with the spear, making it dance back and forth, never managing to get close to me.
The power of each of them could have been fatal to a God of Death, or even been a burden for one of Death’s agents, but they were ineffective against me, unsuitable for dealing with me from the outset.
I didn’t even try to talk to them. Any form of communication should only be used to buy time or distract during combat. Try if it’s useful against the enemy, ignore if it’s the enemy trying to communicate.
I flap my wings, my body growing in an instant, increasing my speed even further to reach the enemy. Before they could do anything, I was already facing the Fairy, who distorted space, dodging me. I changed my target and, opening my jaws, let petrified roots emerge from my mouth, wrapping around the Corpse God, who tried to free himself at the cost of severing his limbs. This didn’t work, as this slight delay was all I needed to move my head, devouring his entire body.
On this screen, I received two heavy attacks: the Golem and the Miasma Titan struck the side of my neck and my spine simultaneously. Their powers contained the power of the Concepts of Hunger and Greed; their strikes this time were much more effective.
I was thrown back and, with effort, I twisted my body, using my tail to wrap around one of the Divine Dragon’s legs, pulling him toward me. My claws pierced his neck before either of them could do anything.
“< Bury >” (me)
Petrified tree branches emerge from my body, asking the Corpse and trapping the Soul before repairing the two of them inside my body, which returns to Dragon form. Even so, I control the size to fit comfortably in this small space.
“Now only 3 left…” (me)
“< Fairy Magic: Multi-Elemental Arcane Seal >” (Anomalous Fairy)
“Your time is up…” (me)
“< Origin Technique: Cortana’s Embrace >” (me)
A strong suction begins from my body. To fight against it, the Titan and the Golem try to merge into one being, barely resisting being pulled in. But the Fairy had no chance. Her small body tried to distort space, but it was no use, as space itself was being sucked into me.
Soon, the Fairy was sucked in, along with the Ascendant, the Anomalous Creature, and thousands of Infernal Creatures, all sucked into my body where they could rest.
Now with the only remaining enemy being this large Miasma Golem, I got into a fighting stance, halting my technique. The Tomb Space I’d created shattered in the process due to the technique I used. The Demonic power that surged once again, to my surprise, was sucked into the enemy, making its power increase even further, while the Concepts of Hunger and Greed seemed to complement each other.
“This one’s going to be harder…” (me)
