Chapter 254: Chapter 254: Demon King

"Trust me. If you choose me, and stand by that choice, Nightmare will not disappoint you."

Yvette deliberately softened her voice, her tone becoming sweet and pliant as her eyes remained fixed on Lance.

She leaned forward slightly, her collar parted just enough to reveal a sliver of her fair skin.

She was like an experienced angler, patiently waiting for the fish that had taken the bait to be well and truly hooked.

"It all depends entirely on your choice."

Lance weighed his options in silence for a moment before suddenly asking a question of his own.

"Why me, of all people?"

’In this vast world, there must be more than one genius with the potential to become Legendary.’

’Why was this Witch so fixated on him?’

’Could it really just be because of their fateful, intimate encounter that night?’

"Because you possess..."

Yvette’s voice was unwavering.

"...a terrifying potential that you yourself likely can’t even imagine."

’Potential?’

Lance wondered. ’Is the Witch Race born with a Talent for perceiving the potential of others?’

"So I plan to place my bet on you early, before you’ve fully developed."

Yvette met Lance’s scrutinizing gaze without flinching, her intense, hidden possessiveness finally on full display.

"Actually, throughout history, every Witch who has reached the Legendary pinnacle has done so by standing firmly by the partner she chose."

"But there is one crucial point I must emphasize to you today..."

Yvette paused, then enunciated each word clearly.

"I... am the first Witch to have chosen you."

She looked at Lance, her fingertips gently coming to rest on the back of his hand in a vaguely suggestive test.

"Since you were fortunate enough to have met Elisya, you must have heard the legendary tales of her and Karen that circulate throughout the continent, right?"

"Back in the day, Karen was just an Ordinary person."

"And it was Elisya who stood by him through countless challenges, step by step, until he finally ascended the Legendary throne."

"And in the legacy of the Witch Race, we have perfectly preserved Karen’s entire path of advancement: from a Level 1 novice to how to perfectly construct a Star Track, how to ascend to the Extraordinary Realm, and all the way to finally claiming the Legendary throne."

"All the secret Knowledge, every Specialty..."

Yvette took a deep breath.

"All of this... as long as you agree, I can give it all to you, without holding anything back."

If confirming that the Nightmare infusion had no side effects was enough to tempt Lance...

...then the complete Profession advancement guide leading all the way to the Legendary realm that she was now offering was simply impossible for him to refuse.

Although Bazzer had helped him avoid an advancement trap, Lance knew the truth.

Bazzer might be a knowledgeable Minstrel, but his knowledge was likely limited to the more common, public information about advancement.

The true core Knowledge required to advance to the Legendary realm would be strictly monopolized; there was no way it would be allowed to circulate freely.

’And yet, this Witch before him could hand all that precious Knowledge directly over to him.’

Yvette had been observing Lance’s expression closely. The moment she keenly caught the flicker of temptation in his eyes...

...her own gaze suddenly turned incredibly serious.

She slowly extended her right hand, gently pressing her soft palm against his beating heart.

"My condition for this partnership is actually very simple. You only need to promise me one thing."

"Choose me."

"And, at any point in the future, you are forbidden from accepting a partnership with any other Witch."

"You and I must be each other’s one and only Symbiont."

Lance looked down at the girl before him, who appeared so pure and harmless.

But through those beautiful eyes, he felt he could clearly see the obsession buried deep within her soul.

But Lance was not afraid.

’After all, he was a Foreigner with a cheat.’

’There was no trouble in this world that could truly stop his progress.’

’He could take a hit from an axe every day and still keep going.’

"I admit, your offer is extremely tempting... and..."

’If he had to choose a Witch...’

A confident smile touched Lance’s lips.

He reached up and decisively grasped the hand Yvette had placed on his chest.

"We have excellent ’chemistry,’ don’t we?"

Hearing the word "chemistry," Yvette seemed to recall the madness of those two nights, and an alluring blush spread across her fair cheeks.

"But I have my limits."

Lance’s smile vanished, his expression instantly turning serious.

"I can agree to this partnership."

"But from now on, if you want to use your abilities to pull me into a dream to talk, you must have my explicit permission beforehand."

Lance’s tone was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

"I don’t know how you’re able to ignore distance and pull me in here."

"But what if I’m in a dangerous combat situation in the real world, and you forcibly pull me into a dream and strip me of control over my body, just like you did today?"

"If I die."

"If that happens, every bit of your investment in me will go right down the drain."

Yvette was taken aback by his words.

She watched him face her temptations, yet remain calm enough to forcefully draw his own lines in the sand.

This, in turn, sparked a strange, morbid sense of satisfaction deep within her, as if she were the one being conquered.

She obediently removed her hand from his firm chest.

Then, with a smooth turn of her wrist, she naturally intertwined her fingers with his, holding his hand tightly.

She looked at Lance, smiling like a little vixen that had finally succeeded in dragging her prize back to her den.

"Then it’s a pleasure to be working with you, Mr. Lance."

"If you ever need some ’private lessons’ in the future, just remember to think my name... right before you go to sleep."

Yvette’s eyes curved into beautiful crescent moons. She gazed at Lance, her heart pounding.

The sheets were even getting a little damp.

’A Witch for a Demon King.’

’Wasn’t this a match made in heaven, destined by fate?’

The resentment Yvette had built up over the last few days vanished in an instant. Her heart filled with glee as she began to plot out their future.

The reason she was so confident in Lance’s potential...

...was that ever since they had completed the Nightmare infusion a few nights ago...

...through Nightmare’s unique perspective...

Yvette had "seen" something on Lance’s otherwise pure human soul. She clearly sensed an aura that only a Demon should possess.

Moreover, these auras, which clearly belonged to different species, seemed to have fused perfectly with his fundamental soul, showing no signs of rejection.

In the entire history of the Material Realm...

...no Intelligent Species had ever been able to cross the boundary and obtain the Talents exclusive to Demons.

This was an ironclad rule that no one—not even the gods—had ever broken.

Even the Mad King Lot, who had once sought to become a man-made Demon King and mobilized the full Power of his nation to do so, had been unable to break this ironclad rule.

’Only a Demon King could gather the Power of Demons within a human body, right?’
