Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?

Chapter 1799 - 1057: Sain on the Offensive (Part 2)

"I’d better hurry back and report this to Lord Onora. There’s no way I can handle this kind of Monster. Hey, all of you, get up, we’re retreating now!"

Not even the warm bonfire could keep Ulysses from wanting to leave.

With the Teleportation Gate right in front of her eyes, going back to her own turf obviously felt the safest.

Wait, the Sain Dungeon’s Teleportation Gate showed up near my house? That’s not gonna fly. What if it goes berserk? I won’t be able to stop it.

Move, move, move! Gotta relocate!

The Demon Clan Soldiers were just about to follow her out, but Ulysses suddenly looked back at the wooden planks and scraps scattered on the ground, thinking to herself:

Could these materials be a gift from the Sain Dungeon?

The idea being to support us building houses inside this Safety Zone? This Dungeon is weirdly considerate.

"But even if the house gets built, there’s no way I’m actually living in it."

She thought for a bit, then waved her hand and said, "Haul all this stuff out of here. Free materials are meant to be taken. Dungeon-grade materials have gotta be better than whatever we scrape together ourselves."

The Soldiers immediately turned into a pack of bandits raiding a village, bundling up everything scattered around. They even scooped up several handfuls of Ash off the ground. This is Sain Dungeon Ash—what if it does something amazing in alchemy?

The Abyss Legion left with their arms full of loot.

Not long after they left.

"A Great Safety Zone? This place is actually a Life-type dungeon!"

A Demon Clan man who looked seasoned and composed suddenly arrived. Behind him trailed a bunch of Demons with all kinds of bizarre appearances. Judging by their gear, this was a very traditional Demon Clan army.

This group was the Demon Clan rebel army that opposes Onora’s faction.

"General Jula, this Dungeon never showed up before. The moment we occupied this area, it popped out of nowhere. The Demon King is clearly blessing us—this is a god-sent opportunity."

The old, steady-looking Demon was called Jula, one of the leaders of the rebel army.

He ran his hand over the cracks in his Armor, his expression giving no hint of what he was thinking.

These cracks were left by the Monsters of this nameless Dungeon.

When they first entered, they knew nothing about the place and could only wander around blindly. They ended up walking into a city buried under snow and ice.

He hadn’t even finished marveling at how abruptly the scene had changed or how beautiful the snowy city was when, out of nowhere, something like a Thunderbolt long spear of an Arrow came flying in and smashed an enormous crack into his Heavy Armor in one shot.

This Armor is his family’s heirloom! It survived two Demon King vs Hero wars alongside his ancestors and stayed intact, and now it just gets broken like this!?

But when he saw the nearby Soldier, who specialized in flesh-strengthening, get completely skewered through by that Arrow, he calmed down a little.

The group scrambled through the hail of projectiles and fled the city in utter disgrace. After that they went through several more regions, each with a completely different style, until they ended up in the sorry state they were in now.

Jula still remembered that the first city they walked into seemed to be called... Cold Valley’s Yirushi’er?

What a weird name.

"This Dungeon is terrifying beyond belief. I’ve never seen a Dungeon this vicious in my life."

"Then should we pull out for now..."

"The more dangerous it is, the more valuable it has to be!"

On the way, they’d picked up quite a few light point items, and the effects of the stuff inside had amazed them. If they could get those in large quantities...

They could absolutely inject new strength into the currently disadvantaged rebel army and maybe even turn the whole situation around!

"That damned Onora, I’m gonna chop her head off with my own hands!"

Jula had made up his mind: he would make full use of this Dungeon that only they could access and use this heaven-sent opportunity to reverse the war!

He stomped on the ground, and the flesh on his body suddenly separated and began to swell, then rearranged itself near the bonfire.

It actually formed the shapes of several houses.

These flesh-built houses rapidly underwent Hardening and ended up with a texture like wood. If you didn’t look closely, you’d never guess they were houses made of flesh.

Since most Demons can’t use Magic, they’ve taken flesh manipulation as a Skill and pushed it to its limits. Someone of Jula’s rank can mimic quite a few Magical effects just with blood and flesh.

"We’re leaving."

He led his Soldiers through the Teleportation Gate and out of the Dungeon. They’d been worn down badly even before reaching the Safety Zone, so they needed to go back and rest properly.

But they would surely be back before long.

Who could possibly walk away from the endless possibilities of a Dungeon this big?

Not long after Jula’s group left.

The Mad Fire God Sect Holy Light Sect, who had gone to Skyline Forest to continue gathering materials, returned.

"Clatter!"

The moment they walked in, the wood they were carrying on their shoulders crashed to the ground with a loud clatter, but even that noise couldn’t shake the expressions of sheer shock off their faces.

The three of them stared at each other, all with looks of total disbelief, and finally gasped:

"Did the Mad Fire God just show a miracle?"

How did the materials they brought automatically turn into houses!

A new unsolved mystery of the Demon Continent was born.

Meanwhile.

Sain Dungeon, City Lord’s room.

Gong Qiying was sitting in front of the altar, blank-faced, flicking through the City Lord Panel. He barely even watched the Demon Clan playing out their little drama on the screen—he only needed to know that Demons had started coming in.

What had numbed him was—

He’d been doing too many Dungeon battles lately.

In this short stretch of time, he’d already fought no fewer than five Dungeon vs Dungeon battles, all of them against Dungeons scattered across the Demon Continent.

As for why Gong Qiying was doing this.

The various factions showing up in the Twilight Dungeon were his real targets.

He first used the intel he’d scraped together from the Mad Fire God Sect to pinpoint each faction’s location, then used the Dungeon’s world map to find the local Dungeons.

And then beat them into submission.

Overwhelming them with brute force.

Besides warning these Demon City Lords not to act rashly, he also wanted to loot various Demon Dungeons for resources—permissions, items, Monsters, that kind of thing.

But his main goal was intel.

Based on the intel, Gong Qiying locked onto three abandoned, dormant Dungeons and absorbed them, and even fought a battle against Sealed Items that had broken containment, re-Sealing them afterward.

He crudely converted these captured Dungeons into direct Teleportation points connected to the Twilight Dungeon, wiped their maps completely, and the spiritual power needed to keep them running day-to-day was basically pocket change.

The number of battles Gong Qiying had fought in this span of time could match some Dungeons’ entire lifetime.

"I really am way too diligent..."

Gong Qiying muttered to himself in a numb tone.

What numbed him most was that he’d lost count of how many times he’d had to pick out rewards after winning a Dungeon battle.

He had overestimated the quality of Demon Dungeons; the post-battle loot was mostly meh. But he couldn’t just skim everything, because what if there was something good he could snipe?

So he was stuck in this endlessly boring loot-selection phase.

In the end, Gong Qiying picked out some Monsters as his spoils of war, rubbed his eyes, and looked at the world map that showed the distribution of Dungeons under his control.

He’d even laid a sheet of paper over it, with the currently known distribution of major factions on the Demon Continent drawn on it.

He’d installed a Teleportation Gate for every major faction, except one outlier.

The area occupied by the corruption forces.

No matter how he searched or how much intel he gathered, he couldn’t find a single Dungeon that could be reclaimed there. For Dungeons, that place had become a bizarre blank zone.

But the lack of Dungeons could be shelved for now. The more pressing issue was—

"I’ve never let the Crimson Corruption out."
