Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1788 - 1052: Demon Clan, First Entry into the Dungeon
War is a discipline.
Only those who master myriad details can control the entire situation in war; those who emerge victorious are the most outstanding.
Onora had always believed this.
But the chaotic war happening now on the Demon Continent made her unsure of her own judgement; even the Demon Clan civil wars she had participated in had never been this chaotic and disordered.
This war shattered her traditional understanding of warfare.
The scenes of strong and powerful generals commanding well-disciplined soldiers to win battle after battle do not apply now. The war on the Demon Continent nowadays focuses on...
Which side can spread contagion better!
Abyssal Madness Fire corruption, these three forces are flourishing and rampantly expanding on the Demon Continent. Though they fight when they encounter each other, the outcome of the battles doesn’t decisively affect the final victory, which is determined by who can infect the other first!
This led Onora’s Demon King Army and the opposing Demon King Rebel Army to become "primordial" people without any contagion.
When fighting against other factions, they are at a disadvantage, necessitating fully arming their own soldiers to prevent infection; however, no defense is absolute. As a result, soldiers often get infected during battle.
Their eyes begin to glow with Huang Guang, mushrooms start growing on their bodies, and black liquid suddenly flows from their mouths...
This series of changes made Onora quite vexed.
This doesn’t mean she will lose the battle. As of now, she still holds the greatest chance of victory, albeit the process of achieving victory is slightly more challenging than anticipated.
Might as well bring forth the Abyss ahead of time, let these backward Demons under me quickly embrace its arms, saving me the pretentious effort of assisting them in preventing infection.
In the sleeping quarters specially prepared for her in the local fortress, Onora was contemplating the upcoming battle situation.
However, the subsequent knocking interrupted her thoughts, as a young man with dark skin who looked no different from a human apart from horns atop his head pushed the door open and said familiarly:
"Sister, I have found the location of the Teleportation Gate to the Twilight Dungeon. I plan to lead a team in; do you want to join?"
"Having you there would certainly make it obediently follow our commands."
Yet, Onora shook her head.
"The scale of that Dungeon is quite small. It only needs a bit of intimidation to be taken down. I have other matters to attend to; this Dungeon is in your hands now, Chrono."
"I certainly won’t let down your trust, sister!"
The Demon youth named Chrono beamed with excitement, suddenly full of energy, despite Onora not saying anything akin to trusting him.
"I’ll depart now and definitely bring back good news!"
He turned and left, instantly transforming into a black Hurricane and disappearing from Onora’s sight.
After he left, Onora’s expression... remained unchanged, as though she had never regarded the counterpart seriously.
Chrono bears the bloodline of the Demon King, known within the Demon Clan as the "Demon King Bloodline."
He was raised single-handedly by her. Having recently grown into adolescence, last year he bore the appearance of a child, yet now was indistinguishable from a young man.
"Not that I ever valued him highly."
Onora’s initial purpose in cultivating a Demon King Bloodline was merely to conform to the trend wherein each Priest nurtures their cherished Demon King Bloodline, enabling her to avoid failure in the power struggle.
But after witnessing the power of the Abyss and seeing a formidable Demon King Bloodline defeated by Sword Saint Gapar, she lost interest in these individuals.
Nonetheless, Chrono had been shaped into an absolutely loyal form to her, with considerable Combat Power. Retaining him as a general by her side was not a bad choice, adding legitimacy to her forces by utilizing the Demon King’s bloodline.
Whenever faced with something she found cumbersome yet worthwhile, she habitually dispatched Chrono.
Maybe because she did this often, he assumed he was deeply valued, addressing Onora with the affectionate term "sister."
Onora’s reaction to this was... indifferent.
"Twilight Dungeon, I should’ve visited it a few months ago."
Recalling, it seemed to be a rather ruined and small Dungeon, occupied by humans, which had previously run amok, slaughtering local residents wildly.
If not for the need to requisition all usable resources during wartime, such a notorious Dungeon should have been indefinitely sealed, left to collapse and await the selection of a new City Lord.
Currently, their army is nearby the Twilight Dungeon, conveniently close to check it out. When inconvenient, such a dilapidated Dungeon isn’t worth a special detour.
Anyway, there shouldn’t be anything particularly unique to obtain from it.
Onora walked to the terrace, gazing far away as Chrono had already assembled a group of soldiers and spiritedly departed the city.
"I hold no expectations for there."
She murmured to herself.
Shortly thereafter, as the moon gradually ascended the heavens, Chrono, accompanied by his unit totaling fifty men, arrived near the Teleportation Gate.
Here, a small fortress had already been established around the Teleportation Gate by the vanguard units who arrived earlier. The stationed soldiers exceeded a hundred, with more arriving, located within the rear of the Demon King Army, hence barely susceptible to attacks from other forces.
