White Dragon Lord
Chapter 430: Reward from the Platinum Dragon God
Dark purple malicious energy silently permeated the battlefield, seeping into the bodies of the dragons and Titans. They grew fearful, violent, and short-tempered, losing their tactical discipline as their strikes edged closer to their opponents' vital spots.
Finally, two agonizing screams shattered the eerie atmosphere of the battlefield.
The entire battlefield suddenly grew so quiet that a dropped needle could be heard. The dragons and Titans snapped their heads toward the source of the screams—a dragon and a Titan, both severely wounded in mutual destruction.
The glaring, vibrant blood agitated the dragons' and Titans' already sensitive nerves. In an instant, fierce combat erupted.
The dragon gods' bottom line—the pact forbidding combat—had been broken!
Amid the scorching flare of explosions, the White Dragon Lord saw his frenzied kin and the Titans, instinctively sensing that something was wrong.
"Everyone! Something is wrong with the Nightmare of the Void!"
No one who could step into the Abomination Rank was a fool. The Abomination Rank powerhouses tacitly disengaged, looked toward the area surrounding the Nightmare of the Void, and immediately noticed the anomaly.
"Truce for now. We have to stop the casualties from escalating, or none of us will be able to report back."
The eight Abomination Rank powerhouses reached a consensus and deployed their respective means to salvage the battle.A silver dragon quickly pulled out the Divine Artifact given by the Platinum Dragon God—the Scale of Order. Triggering its power, a bright, gentle radiance shot from the Scale of Order, bathing the dragons on the battlefield.
The White Dragon Lord felt the violence and negative emotions spurred by the battle vanish, leaving only a mechanical, cold rationality.
The High-Tier Legendary Dragons abruptly awakened. With the support of the White Dragon Lord and the others, they disengaged from the battle. The Titans, however, lacked a Divine Artifact to resolve this situation and could only rely on magical means to help their kin shake off the Abomination's influence.
Led by the four Abomination Rank dragons, the dragons kept their guard up against the Titans while assisting Elena in sealing the Abomination.
Finally, before the Titans could sort out their trouble, Elena completely sucked the Abomination into the Sealing Scroll.
The Titans ground their teeth as they watched the Sealing Scroll roll shut. "Despicable! Shameless!"
The White Dragon Lord chuckled disdainfully. "What a joke. We snatched this Abomination with our own skill. What right do you have to call us shameless?"
The dragons mocked them without restraint. The Titans flushed red, thick veins bulging on their necks in rage, itching to throw themselves at the dragons on the spot.
But rationality suppressed the Abomination Rank Titans' thirst for war. This wasn't solely due to the pact between the two chief deities; the White Tower was another crucial factor. With their Abomination Rank combat power roughly equal, the dragons—backed by a Floating Tower—undeniably held the advantage in High-Tier Legend forces. Starting a war would only needlessly inflate casualties.
The two forces parted on bad terms. The White Dragon Lord teleported the White Tower back, and together with the dragons, flew toward the Madilan Plane with their spoils, smoothly returning to the Madilan World.
After waiting at the rally point for a few days, the Platinum Dragon God and the Luminous Titan returned, with the rest of the dragons and Titans following suit.
The White Dragon Lord handed the two major Sealing Scrolls over to the Platinum Dragon God. "Your Majesty, the Nightmare of the Void and the Devourer of All Things are sealed within. We sealed the Devourer of All Things on our own, while we snatched the Nightmare of the Void from the Titans' hands."
The Platinum Dragon God looked highly intrigued. "What happened?"
The White Dragon Lord briefly recounted the process of snatching the Nightmare of the Void. The Platinum Dragon God felt a bit surprised. "It was too dangerous for you to do that."
"However, well done!" the Platinum Dragon God continued. "I captured the Hundred-Eyed Giant. We have won this wager."
The Platinum Dragon God faced the dragons. "Warriors of the Dragon Race! The Dragon Race has won this competition! Let's go! Time to collect our wager from the Luminous Titan!"
The dragons let out excited roars. Witnessing the king of the Luminous Titans eat dirt with their own eyes was something they could brag about for the rest of their lives.
Led by the Platinum Dragon God, the dragons flew toward the Titans in a mighty throng.
Unlike the dragons' soaring spirits, the Titan side was deeply depressed. Negative emotions of reluctance and fury spread among the Titans.
When the two groups met, the Platinum Dragon God directly took out three Sealing Scrolls. "Augustine! You lost! According to our agreement, I want the Emblem of Light!"
The Luminous Titan's expression was solemn. However, as a deity of the Lawful Good alignment, he couldn't bring himself to renege on a debt. He took out the Emblem of Light and tossed it to the Platinum Dragon God.
After fulfilling the wager, the Luminous Titan looked at the Abomination Rank dragons behind the Platinum Dragon God, his gaze ultimately pausing on the White Dragon Lord. Through the mouths of the Titans, he knew that the White Dragon Lord was the one who had summoned the Floating Tower.
"I know you! White Dragon—Amos Aldrich! You sent many of my believers back into my embrace! You did very well!" He practically squeezed the last sentence through gritted teeth.
"Thank you for the praise, Your Majesty! I am truly honored that you remember my name!" The White Dragon Lord's lips twitched upward in a smirk. "I will work even harder to ensure they return to Your Majesty's embrace as early as possible."
"Audacious!" The enraged Titans manifested the Spear of the Titans, glaring viciously at the White Dragon Lord. Dragon Breath brewed in the mouths of the dragons, and the Platinum Dragon God's expression turned glacial.
The Luminous Titan frowned, waving a hand backward to signal the Titans to calm down. He stared coldly at the White Dragon Lord. "I hope your strength is as formidable as your mouth."
"Your Majesty need not worry about that," the White Dragon Lord replied indifferently.
The dragons looked at the White Dragon Lord with a bit more admiration. Although the Dragon Race and the Titans were mortal enemies, provoking a Chief Deity to their face like the White Dragon Lord did was incredibly rare. While this allowed the dragons to vent their anger, it also earned the White Dragon Lord an extra measure of respect and a touch of concern.
Those who provoked a deity rarely met a good end.
But the White Dragon Lord had made this decision after careful deliberation. As the chief culprit behind the destruction of the Sincaro Titan World, he had slaughtered countless giants and Titans. He was already blacklisted by the three Titan gods.
Since there was no possibility of improving their relationship, going all the way down this dark path was the best choice. This way, he could at least garner more attention from the dragon god, which would ironically make him a bit safer.
The White Dragon Lord made up his mind to travel less in the future. Even if he left Nordhill, he would have to keep it strictly confidential or travel alongside trusted powerhouses.
Unwilling to endure the overbearing glares of the dragons, the Titans teleported away one after another, leaving only dragons in the Madilan World.
The Platinum Dragon God faced the flock of dragons, swiftly chanting an incantation. Platinum radiance shot from the dragon god's forehead and sank into the dragons.
This was a dragon god's blessing, a beneficent divine spell that would persist as long as the Platinum Dragon God remained alive. It accelerated the dragons' speed in absorbing elements, thereby aiding their growth. Although it wouldn't show much effect in the short term, over a long period, the results would be highly substantial.
After the blessing concluded, the Platinum Dragon God spoke to encourage the dragons, and they gradually dispersed.
"Amos, wait a moment," the Platinum Dragon God called out, stopping the White Dragon Lord who was preparing to cast a teleportation spell.
Finally, only the White Dragon Lord, Elena, and the Ancient Gold Dragon remained. The Platinum Dragon God looked meaningfully at the White Dragon Lord. "Amos, I would like to invite you to join my guard."
The White Dragon Lord froze, his thoughts flashing like lightning. He understood that the Platinum Dragon God was trying to recruit him for his own protection. Once he joined the Platinum Dragon God's guard, the White Dragon Lord's safety would receive maximum assurance.
"Thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty, but I cannot let go of the empire I built."
"Very well." The Platinum Dragon God took out the Emblem of Light he had obtained from the Luminous Titan. "Your contributions in this competition rank among the very best, and you have offended that fellow. Take this to protect yourself."
"This Emblem of Light was won by that fellow in a wager with a certain existence from the Justice Pantheon. Although it lacks offensive power, it is an excellent life-saving artifact."
As he spoke, the Emblem of Light flew in front of the White Dragon Lord. The White Dragon Lord accepted it, taking a deep breath to suppress the excitement in his heart.
The White Dragon Lord had previously risked life and limb to bring back a critical item for the Winter Legion just to be rewarded with a Divine Artifact. This time, while he acknowledged his massive contribution, he felt it was far from worthy of the Platinum Dragon God bestowing a Divine Artifact upon him.
Just as the Platinum Dragon God had stated, this was given in light of his great merit and the fact that he had offended the Luminous Titan. It was both a reward and a dragon god's care for a rising star of the Dragon Race.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. If there is ever anything you need in the future, just give the word."
The Platinum Dragon God nodded. "There is one more thing. Truthfully, I have wanted to meet and speak with you for a long time."
The White Dragon Lord felt somewhat puzzled. "Please speak, Your Majesty."
"It is regarding the dedication of an entire medium material plane to establish the Dragon Academy. You have done an excellent job with this," the Platinum Dragon God said, his face full of gratification. "However, this academy currently only benefits the dragons of Nordhill. The Very Young Dragons of other worlds are still living in deep suffering."
The White Dragon Lord paused for a moment, then felt a surge of joy as he understood the Platinum Dragon God's implication. "Your Majesty, my purpose in founding the Dragon Academy was precisely to strengthen the Dragon Race. The more Very Young Dragons in the academy, the better. If Your Majesty is willing to cooperate and issue a divine decree ordering dragons of other worlds to send their Very Young Dragons to the Dragon Academy, I could ask for nothing more."
"I am very glad you think this way. This is exactly what I intended to say."
The two hit it off immediately and promptly discussed how to coordinate sending Very Young Dragons from other worlds into the Dragon Academy.
An entire medium material plane was sufficient to accommodate hundreds of thousands of Very Young Dragons. But considering the adage of not putting all one's eggs in one basket, the Platinum Dragon God and the White Dragon Lord agreed to cap the number of Very Young Dragons in the Madilan World at around 30,000.
For context, the entire dragon population of Nordhill numbered only around 10,000. Yet the Dragon Academy was about to welcome 30,000 Very Young Dragons. Once these Very Young Dragons matured, they would form a terrifyingly powerful force.
...
Nordhill, Yafeiawei Empire.
Inside the White Castle, the White Dragon Lord was meeting with his Dragon Brother, Dragon Sister, the Ancient Gold Dragon, and the visiting Grand Duke Silver Dragon. Two days had already passed since the White Dragon Lord's return from the Madilan World.
The Platinum Dragon God worked with great efficiency. Over these two days, the Dragon Academy constantly welcomed new Very Young Dragons. Of course, almost all of them were Metallic Dragon Very Young Dragons.
Grand Duke Silver Dragon had received the Platinum Dragon God's divine decree to send Very Young Dragons into the Dragon Academy, which prompted him to rush over to ask the White Dragon Lord about the situation. After learning the whole story, Grand Duke Silver Dragon excitedly stayed in the White Castle to discuss perfecting the Dragon Academy with the White Dragon Lord.
"I have already separated the Dragon Beast Academy from the Dragon Academy, formulating appropriate methods tailored to the respective characteristics of dragon beasts and True Dragons. Now, the Dragon Academy is on the right track."
"Amos, I am completely at ease with the educational methods you've devised, but I am somewhat worried about the Dragon Academy's security. After all, there are no powerhouses garrisoned there."
"You need not worry, Senior. The Magic Tower Defense System in the Luoduoluo Plane is extremely comprehensive. Furthermore, I have concentrated the entire world's elemental energy onto the continent, creating an environment similar to a magic-less domain outside the continent. This eliminates the possibility of enemies launching attacks from beyond the mainland."
"But what if an Abomination Rank powerhouse strikes personally? The Magic Tower Defense System cannot defend against Abomination Rank powerhouses. With so many Very Young Dragons, if word leaks out and draws the covetous eyes of Titan powerhouses, the consequences would be unimaginable."
The White Dragon Lord nodded. "I have considered this scenario. The moment something happens at the Dragon Academy, I will rush over. Moreover, I will soon construct a temple for the Dragon God of the North Wind inside the Dragon Academy. In the event of an emergency, His Majesty the Dragon God of the North Wind will send down an avatar—or even his true body—to protect the safety of the Very Young Dragons."
Grand Duke Silver Dragon let out a long sigh of relief. "I feel much more at ease then. But Amos, I also have a proposal for this visit."
"What proposal?"
"We should apply to the Council for the complete data on the Spatial Lockdown Magic Array, or ask the Council to help build a Spatial Lockdown Magic Array at the Dragon Academy as well."
The White Dragon Lord's eyes lit up. For a location as important as the Dragon Academy, the more security measures, the better.
The Spatial Lockdown Magic Array had blocked Demon invasions into Nordhill for tens of thousands of years. The functionality of this defense system had long been perfected through the test of time. If not for the guidance of fallen believers, Demons could forget about ever entering Nordhill.
"This is a great idea! I will contact the Speaker later!"
"Why not go right now and get this settled early?"
The White Dragon Lord and Grand Duke Silver Dragon teleported to Sky City and sought out the avatar of Merlin Heavenly Principle.
"Your Excellency the Speaker, we are here today to request a personal favor from the Council."
Merlin Heavenly Principle looked at the two dragons arriving together, his face questioning.
The White Dragon Lord said, "You are aware of the recent relocation of the Very Young Dragons. We have gathered the Very Young Dragons of Nordhill in the Luoduoluo Plane to protect them and provide them with a sound education."
Merlin Heavenly Principle nodded. "This is a good thing. The Dragon Race is a crucial guardian force of Nordhill. If the Dragon Race grows stronger, Nordhill becomes safer as well."
Grand Duke Silver Dragon said, "Old friend, it is wonderful that you think this way. We came this time hoping to borrow the Council's experience in constructing the Spatial Lockdown Magic Array to add a layer of protection to the Luoduoluo Plane."
Outside of humanity, the Dragon Race possessed the highest number of powerhouses in Nordhill, and the White Dragon Lord was an Abomination Rank powerhouse himself. Merlin Heavenly Principle naturally wouldn't reject a proposal that carried zero negative impact for Nordhill.
Merlin Heavenly Principle replied, "This is naturally not a problem. However, the procedures for the Spatial Lockdown Magic Array are extremely tedious, and the materials are hard to find. The other materials are manageable—the Council has stock that we can trade to you—but there is one divine-grade material that the Council does not have, and that is an Intermediate Heart of the Plane."
