White Dragon Lord
Chapter 429: Becoming a Glorious Kill Stealer
The Heart of the Plane was the essence of a world. If the Devourer of All Things consumed it, not only would all their previous efforts go to waste, but the White Dragon Lord and his allies would have to expend even more effort to capture the creature.
The White Dragon Lord drew the Authority of Winter, gathering the ice elements within a thousand-meter radius. This energy condensed into an almost tangible ice-blue mist around him.
Elemental Impact!
The ice-blue mist formed a surging wave like an elemental tide. It washed over the Devourer of All Things, ravaging its body while turning the ground into frozen earth. A layer of white frost coated the surrounding trees, and even the magma deep underground showed signs of solidifying.
As the White Dragon Lord launched his attack, Desert Bane drew a vibrant green branch and rapidly chanted a spell.
Earth Surge!
The solid earth heaved like ocean waves, violently ejecting the Devourer of All Things from where it had been burrowing deep underground.
"Hurry! Attack!"
While the dragons besieged the Devourer of All Things, Desert Bane sent a telepathic message to the White Dragon Lord, his tone thick with worry. "Sir Amos, we both need to sustain our magic. Who has the power to seal the Abomination?!"
The White Dragon Lord also felt troubled. It took the combined strength of two Abomination Rank dragons to pin down the Devourer of All Things and keep it from burrowing into the ground. Sealing an Abomination required a powerful individual to guide the process, and High-Tier Legends simply could not provide the massive amount of energy needed for the seal.Suddenly, the White Dragon Lord thought of the White Tower. The power of its Elemental Pool was enough to seal the Abomination. He looked toward Elena, who was attacking the creature alongside the other dragons. "Elena! Come here!"
Elena flew toward her older brother in confusion. Using Mage Hand, the White Dragon Lord retrieved a Sealing Scroll and handed it to his dragon sister.
"This is the item for sealing Abominations bestowed by His Majesty the Platinum Dragon God. I am granting you the authority to summon the White Tower. In a moment, use its power to fly above the Devourer of All Things and seal it..."
Elena memorized the sealing spell and the summoning chant for the White Tower. She flew high into the sky, breaking away from the battle, and summoned the tower according to the White Dragon Lord's instructions.
With the Gold Finger remotely operating the White Tower in coordination, Elena completed the summoning. A black hole appeared in the azure sky, and the massive base of the White Tower emerged from within.
Ever since the White Dragon Lord stepped into the Abomination Rank, the power the Floating Tower could provide had become severely limited. He needed a Floating City, the next tier up, which was why the White Tower had been left idle.
Although it was useless to the White Dragon Lord, the White Tower still provided a massive boost to Elena.
Elena steered the White Tower directly above the Devourer of All Things. The colossal structure cast a massive shadow that completely enveloped the monster.
A desolate, ancient spell spilled from Elena's lips. The White Dragon Lord used the Gold Finger to operate the tower remotely, coordinating with his dragon sister to pour the stored magic from the White Tower's Elemental Pool into the Sealing Scroll.
Under Elena's control, the Sealing Scroll flew out the window of the White Tower's control room. Driven by a mysterious force, the scroll unfurled and radiated a brilliant golden light.
Roar!
When the golden light struck the Devourer of All Things, it instinctively sensed the danger and struggled violently. Elena poured in more magic, entering a tug-of-war with the Abomination while the energy reserves in the White Tower's Elemental Pool rapidly plummeted.
Seeing that the Elemental Pool's energy was about to hit rock bottom, the White Dragon Lord immediately ordered the White Tower's steward to add Elemental Crystals to replenish the power.
Ten minutes passed. Just before the Elemental Pool's energy could bottom out again, the Devourer of All Things was sucked into the scroll.
The golden light vanished, and the scroll automatically rolled itself up, hovering in midair. Seeing this, the dragons let out waves of excited roars.
The White Dragon Lord grabbed the scroll from the air and let out a long breath.
"Finally caught it!"
He looked at the earth below. Battered by his frost power and ravaged by Earth Surge, the once lush green forest was a complete mess. Bare dirt was exposed everywhere. Still, compared to having the Heart of the Plane devoured by an Abomination, this was an excellent outcome.
The White Dragon Lord sensed people watching from afar; they were the powerhouses of this plane. He was in no mood to interact with the local natives right now. He simply memorized the plane's coordinates, planning to return later and turn this world into a dumping ground for goods and a supplier of raw materials.
"Senior! It's time for us to leave!"
"Wait!" Desert Bane flew toward the ruined landscape.
The White Dragon Lord watched as the brass dragon landed among the exposed dirt and radiated natural primal energy from his body.
All things began to grow. Tiny blades of grass pushed through the soil, rapidly sprouting into verdant plants. Small saplings grew at breakneck speed, maturing into towering trees dozens of meters high in just a few breaths.
Before long, the battlefield's appearance drastically changed, transforming back into a lush forest with thick vegetation and carpets of green grass.
Desert Bane flew back. "Alright. It won't be long before animals migrate here again. Consider this our compensation for the damage we caused to this plane."
While Desert Bane was repairing the land, the White Dragon Lord had already teleported the White Tower away. The two dragons tore open the fabric of space and led the dragon pack back the way they came.
If they could run into another Abomination on the way back, that would be absolutely wonderful.
Having captured the Devourer of All Things—one of the four Abominations—with zero casualties on their side, the dragons chatted and laughed along the way in a relaxed and cheerful mood. If not for the endless dark void surrounding them, they might have even thrown a banquet to celebrate.
Suddenly, the White Dragon Lord felt a unique magical signal coming from a certain direction. It was a summons from an ally. He turned to look at Desert Bane and found the brass dragon looking right back at him. The two dragons exchanged a glance and nodded.
"Everyone, we have a new mission. Move out!"
Led by the two Abomination Rank dragons, the pack flew toward the source of the signal while the White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted a spell.
Mass Haste!
A faint magical aura emerged from the White Dragon Lord's body. Touched by the aura, the dragons immediately felt their bodies lighten, and their flight speed increased by another notch.
After flying through the boundless void for an unknown amount of time, the White Dragon Lord finally sensed magical fluctuations coming from afar.
"This aura!"
The White Dragon Lord was very familiar with the Abomination's aura. It was the wielder of the dark purple energy he had encountered in the Madilan World. He had only later learned that the Abomination's name was Nightmare of the Void.
The Nightmare of the Void was a terrifying Abomination born from the body of the fallen Goddess of Nightmares from the ancient era. This Abomination had inherited the goddess's dying resentment. It fed on the fear of living creatures, and at its peak, it could cause the inhabitants of an entire world to die in their nightmares. The Flame Demon had been bound by the nightmare it wove.
The Human-Faced Green Snake's situation was somewhat special. Its attributes aligned with the Nightmare of the Void, so the Abomination had controlled the snake, intending to use its power to turn the entire Madilan World into a pasture for food. Unfortunately for the creature, the White Dragon Lord had foiled its plans.
Before long, the White Dragon Lord saw the scene in the distance—numerous dragons and Titans were besieging a mass of dark purple gas. Although the dragons and Titans were cooperating, they kept clear boundaries, splitting into two distinct sides to pincer the Abomination in the middle.
The White Dragon Lord flew closer and sent a telepathic message to the leading Abomination Rank dragon. "What is going on here?"
"We encountered the Titans besieging the Abomination, so we joined the fray. They haven't managed to capture it yet, so naturally, whoever snatches it gets the credit for catching it. Hurry up and help."
The White Dragon Lord and Desert Bane led their pack into the battle. The dragon gods had decreed that the two races were not allowed to fight each other, but they never said they couldn't steal spoils. The dragons felt absolutely no psychological burden over being kill stealers against the Titans.
The Nightmare of the Void was incredibly strong—at the very least, it was somewhat stronger than the Devourer of All Things. Every now and then, a Titan or a dragon would be overcome by fear and face the danger of death. Whenever that happened, the Abomination Rank powerhouses had to step in.
The White Dragon Lord took action, flinging a fear-controlled dragon out of the combat zone before joining the ranks to wear down the Nightmare of the Void.
Abominations had no souls, rendering the White Dragon Lord's trump card useless against them. Therefore, he could only use ice magic to attack the Nightmare of the Void.
As a professional Mage, the White Dragon Lord's spells were much more diverse and significantly more powerful compared to the sorcerer-type dragons who cast magic innately. His endless stream of ice spells dazzled the crowd and earned him quite a reputation among the dragons.
After this battle, the White Dragon Lord's name would undoubtedly spread throughout the Metallic Dragons.
In this battle, the dragon faction had four Abomination Rank powerhouses, and the Titan faction likewise had four Abomination Rank Titans. While the dragons and Titans worked together to weaken the Abomination, they also remained guarded against one another, ready to snatch the prize at a moment's notice.
Seeing that the Nightmare of the Void was fast approaching the threshold to be sealed, the four Abomination Rank dragons communicated telepathically to discuss their plan.
"We aren't allowed to fight! How do we steal it?"
"I suggest we split off three of us to intercept the Titans and disrupt their movements, while the remaining one seals the Abomination as quickly as possible."
"That will start a war!"
"We'll just use defensive magic to block the Titans' actions. As long as we don't actively attack them, even the supreme existence of the Titans won't be able to say a thing."
"I have a better proposal," Desert Bane spoke up. "Amos, why don't you summon that Floating Tower again? We can pick a few trustworthy dragons to seal the Abomination while the four of us team up to intercept the Titans' advance."
"The Floating Tower can still be summoned? How does that work?" the Abomination Rank Gold Dragon asked in confusion.
"That is because I bound myself to the Floating Tower through magical means, which allows me to summon it remotely. My Floating Tower can indeed provide the energy to seal the Abomination."
"Are you certain? Sealing an Abomination is no joke!"
"I'm certain! The spare Elemental Crystals in my Floating Tower are enough to refill the Elemental Pool more than ten times over! Just now, it only took the energy of two Elemental Pools for us to seal the Devourer of All Things."
"You sealed the Devourer of All Things?!"
"That's fantastic! If we snatch this Nightmare of the Void in front of us, our Dragon Race will stand in an invincible position!"
The four Abomination Rank dragons quickly finalized their plan and divided the labor. The Gold Dragon, with his massive size and expertise in close combat, charged at the very front as the vanguard. The silver dragon was responsible for assisting him. The White Dragon Lord and Desert Bane, as magic-oriented professionals, naturally hid behind the two dragons to provide spell support.
The White Dragon Lord sent a secret telepathic message to Elena, explaining their plan to his dragon sister. The four dragons then quietly waited for the right moment.
Amidst the dazzling brilliance of magic, the Nightmare of the Void finally weakened enough to meet the standard for sealing.
"Do it!"
As Elena summoned the White Tower, the four Abomination Rank dragons suddenly made their move, flying straight toward the Titans. Simultaneously, they interfered with the golden light shot from the Titans' Sealing Scroll, interrupting the sealing process in a blatant display of snatching the fruits of victory.
"Damn dragons! What are you doing?! Do you want to start a war?!"
The four dragons assumed formation. The Abomination Rank Gold Dragon flew at the very front, facing the murderous glares of the Titans head-on. The silver dragon roamed around his flank, while the White Dragon Lord stayed tucked behind the Gold Dragon, casting buffs on his teammates. Desert Bane guarded the group against the Abomination behind them.
On the other side of the Abomination, Elena swiftly summoned the White Tower and used the Elemental Pool to power the seal on the Nightmare of the Void. Amidst the brilliant golden radiance, the Nightmare of the Void was drawn toward the scroll by the powerful sealing force.
The energy reserves in the Elemental Pool rapidly decreased. Beside it, the White Tower's steward directed the golems to neatly stack crates of Elemental Crystals, ready to recharge the Elemental Pool at a moment's notice.
Backed by an ample energy supply, Elena channeled power into the Sealing Scroll with all her might, accelerating the sealing process. Meanwhile, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons simultaneously attacked the Abomination and provided cover for Elena.
On the other front, the enraged Titans hurled their Spears of the Titans. Multicolored spears rained down toward the Gold Dragon. Even an Abomination Rank Gold Dragon couldn't help but feel his scalp prickle at the sight.
After all, these were the Spears of the Titans! An attack famous enough to be on par with Dragon Breath! And when it came to single-target strikes, the Spear of the Titans was actually a notch above Dragon Breath!
A volley of the Spears of the Titans possessed a destructive might comparable to a Forbidden Spell.
Gate of the Ice Beast!
Three Gates of the Ice Beast rose up to block the Gold Dragon's front, shielding him from the storm of incoming Spears of the Titans. The Gold Dragon also cast a series of defensive spells on himself. Under the Titans' fierce assault, the four dragons struggled to hold their ground.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Like a torrential downpour battering against glass, the Gates of the Ice Beast were pitted with small craters by the Spears of the Titans, sending ice shards flying in all directions.
Under the endless bombardment of the Spears of the Titans, the Gates of the Ice Beast shattered one after another. Just as the final gate broke apart, the Gold Dragon finished preparing his spell.
Luminous Barrier!
A golden hemispherical magical shield deployed in front of the Gold Dragon, blocking the relentless rain of spears with the sharp clatter of colliding metal.
The White Dragon Lord's calculations were spot on. Taking turns casting defensive spells of the Forbidden Spell tier could indeed block the Titans' attacks. Although they couldn't hold out indefinitely, it was more than enough time to last until Elena finished sealing the Abomination.
The Titans realized that if this continued, the dragons' scheme would succeed. The leading Abomination Rank Titan immediately ordered his forces to scatter. Breaking their formation, the Titans bypassed the four Abomination Rank dragons and attempted to disrupt the sealing ritual occurring in the rear.
Already prepared for this, the dragon pack intercepted the Titans, and both sides clashed.
However, due to the agreement between the Platinum Dragon God and the Luminous Titan, neither the dragons nor the Titans struck to kill. The Titans aimed only to stop the dragons from sealing the Abomination, while the dragons' goal was to fend off the Titans' attacks and prevent them from interfering with the ritual.
Abomination Rank fought Abomination Rank; High-Tier Legends fought High-Tier Legends. The void surrounding the battlefield was plunged into utter chaos. Debris in the vicinity was obliterated by the shockwaves of the battle, sending fragments shooting in every direction.
No one noticed that while the dragons and Titans were locked in combat, the dark purple energy form of the Nightmare of the Void split a small piece off its main body. This fragment covertly lunged toward the battling dragons and Titans.
