When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1361: Zhou Qi’s Cheat Mode (2)
Before long, Xiao Rou heard a loud "bang" sound; someone had slammed the keyboard hard, and then everyone, who was previously concentrated, seemed to relax instantly.
Someone started drinking water, someone leaned back.
"Ah Shuang, did your hand slip just now?"
"Bullshit, that was strategy, alright?"
"Strategy, my ass."
"If it wasn’t for Brother Qi just now, do you think you’d have dodged it?"
After a brief silence, the people over there started talking; Xiao Rou listened to their words, and it seemed like they were bantering with each other. Their words were full of mockery, yet everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves.
"Brother Qi is totally on fire today, winning effortlessly."
There was a lot of chatter over there, and sometimes they mentioned some gaming jargon that Xiao Rou didn’t understand, but it was clear that apart from bantering, the core of their conversation was praising Zhou Qi.
Xiao Rou glanced again at Zhou Qi, and saw he was exceptionally calm, just stretching his fingers and neck, then picking up a cup and drinking a sip of water.
What Xiao Rou didn’t know was that at that moment, on the computer QQ, An Rui sent Zhou Qi a message: [You were awesome today, it’s really different having a girl around.]
Zhou Qi didn’t reply, just turned his head to glance at An Rui with a face full of disdain, yet the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but curl up slightly.
He had to admit, just the thought of Xiao Rou sitting not far from him filled him with motivation. There were a few moments just now where he indeed went above and beyond his usual performance.
At noon, when it was time for lunch, those who had been training all morning began surrounding Xiao Rou again. Xiao Rou was no longer as restrained as she had been in the morning. Her nature is soft, gentle, and quiet, but that’s not to say she can’t interact with people, and she chatted happily with everyone.
Having gotten a bit more familiar, Xiao Rou dared to joke, looking at the two people whose names she currently remembered best, she blinked and asked, "Actually, I’ve been wanting to ask, are your names all derived from Shuang Wai Wai?"
"Pff..."
"Pff, hahahaha."
Instantly, the dining table echoed with sounds of coughing and laughter, while Ah Shuang and Ah Wai looked at Xiao Rou with expressions suggesting that life couldn’t get any worse: "Xiao, you really are Brother Qi’s friend’s friend!"
Zhou Chengchen had said this before, but he was more direct than Xiao Rou. Upon hearing their names, he immediately blurted out, "Wow, Shuang Wai Wai, huh?"
This comment had been a source of humor within their team for quite a while, and just as it quieted down, it resurfaced.
Xiao Rou watched the two with their life-can’t-get-any-worse expressions and the others laughing uncontrollably, feeling a bit uneasy, she tugged at Zhou Qi’s sleeve and whispered, "Did I say something wrong?"
Zhou Qi’s face was still smiling unrestrainedly, but he managed to keep his cool and picked a shrimp dumpling for Xiao Rou before saying, "No, you just revealed the truth."
Xiao Rou blinked, understood, smiled, and obediently continued eating.
In the afternoon, once Zhou Qi finished training, Xiao Rou bid farewell to everyone and left with Zhou Qi.
"Xiao, come and play often, alright?"
Everyone enthusiastically bid her farewell once more, then immediately started gossiping once the two were out of sight.
"Wow, there’s definitely some JQ here."
"No doubt about it."
Aside from An Rui, everyone pulled out their phones simultaneously, flipping to a text message: [No gossiping allowed.]
This was the message they received during breakfast, a blatant threat from a certain someone.
