Chapter 1357: I’m Here

Standing on the bustling street, Xiao Rou stared blankly until her phone rang and vibrated, bringing her back to reality.

She looked down at the caller ID: Zhou Qi

Xiao Rou sniffed and answered, "Hello?"

"I suddenly remembered, to save time, we..."

On the other end, Zhou Qi started talking as soon as the call connected.

Halfway through his speech, Zhou Qi finally realized the unusual setting around Xiao Rou, and he frowned, "Are you outside?"

"I..."

The grievances that had welled up in Xiao Rou’s heart hadn’t been swallowed down, and now her voice carried a trace of trembling.

This was something Zhou Qi keenly picked up on from the other side.

"What happened to you?"

Xiao Rou tried hard to suppress her grievances; it was her own issue. Even though she was soft-hearted, it didn’t mean she liked crying in front of others.

But once grievances surged in, they weren’t so easily suppressed, and her voice became increasingly choked.

"What’s wrong? Where are you?"

The person on the phone asked again.

She didn’t want to cry, nor did she want to pour out her troubles over the phone, but the words were already out: "I argued with my dad, and I ran away."

"Where are you? I’ll come to find you."

"I..."

"Never mind, I’ll send you the address. Take a cab here, right now, immediately."

"I don’t have money."

"I’m here."

Hanging up on Xiao Rou’s call, Zhou Qi was actually already outside the team’s gate. It’s not that he wouldn’t go pick her up, but it would waste too much time; it seemed considerate, but actually wasn’t.

Letting Xiao Rou wait on the street for him to pick her up, the mere thought caused Zhou Qi’s heart to ache.

Xiao Rou, on her end, obediently listened and hailed a cab, giving the address Zhou Qi sent.

The evening traffic was smooth and pleasing.

Before long, the cab arrived at the entrance to the neighborhood Zhou Qi mentioned. Xiao Rou was preparing to call him, but her phone had already shut off from being out of battery.

She froze; what should she do now? How to find Zhou Qi, how to pay the driver?

Just as she thought of this, the car door was abruptly opened, Zhou Qi stood at the door, a cigarette in his hand.

"Get out."

Xiao Rou froze again, but felt relieved inside.

"Thank you, driver."

Zhou Qi paid, then draped his jacket over Xiao Rou.

Now the weather was no longer like midsummer. Though it wasn’t cold at night, there was a chill. Xiao Rou was still wearing the outfit from the daytime; while it wasn’t cold during the day, it felt quite thin at night.

"Sorry, I troubled you."

Compared to before, Xiao Rou was much calmer. Zhou Qi smiled, "It’s no trouble."

As he spoke, he handed his phone to Xiao Rou, "Would you like to make a call to your parents, at least let them know you’re safe?"

Xiao Rou didn’t wonder how Zhou Qi knew her phone was dead, just stared at the phone he offered.

Soft-hearted people tend to be meticulous. Running away was Xiao Rou’s limit for rebellion; she didn’t want to go back, but ultimately feared her parents’ worry. After hesitating, she took the phone and sent Mrs. Xiao a text message.

"Done."

"Okay, let’s go."

Zhou Qi led Xiao Rou inside. Shortly, they arrived at the villa; the ground floor hall was empty with the lights off. Zhou Qi entered, turned on the lights, gestured for Xiao Rou to sit on the couch, and then turned to get her a glass of water.
