Zhou Chengchen sat down next to Guo Yue and greeted her with a smile, "Hi."

Guo Yue squeezed out a smile, "Hello."

Her attitude was very cold, easily giving off the impression that she was hard to get along with.

But Zhou Chengchen knew this was just Guo Yue’s personality; he had to admit, it was somewhat similar to how Xi Siyan used to be.

"Here waiting for Liu Xiaoyu, huh."

Zhou Chengchen used a direct statement, and Guo Yue didn’t deny it, nodding, "Mm."

"They’re probably going to be busy for a while longer, it’s so late already, why not head back first?"

This wasn’t exactly appropriate—it’s late, why don’t you leave?

But Zhou Chengchen kind of considered herself the hostess here; she absolutely had the right to say this, and even if it was inappropriate, no one would dare say anything.

Guo Yue didn’t show a strange reaction to her inappropriate remark, still showing a very faint smile, "I’m waiting for him."

Her gaze calm and frank, made the words Zhou Chengchen was planning to say get stuck in her throat, inexplicably, she saw a trace of resilience in Guo Yue’s calmness, very strong yet seemingly fragile.

It made people feel embarrassed to speak further.

Zhou Chengchen rarely found herself at a loss for words like this; she swallowed and decided to stay silent. After all, it wasn’t her place to comment on other people’s affairs.

Guo Yue was inherently quiet; now Zhou Chengchen also fell silent, leaving the two without words for a moment. Added to their unfamiliarity, the atmosphere seemed somewhat awkward.

Zhou Chengchen disliked such awkwardness; after a moment of silence, she decided to make small talk, "By the way, I bought some late-night snacks, there’s fruit. Would you like some? I’ll go get it."

As she spoke, without waiting for Guo Yue to say anything, Zhou Chengchen had already gotten up and walked over.

Returning, she held a box of fruit—something she bought, a fruit platter freshly prepared with four kinds of fruits.

Zhou Chengchen noticed that Guo Yue’s gaze lingered for a few seconds on the first fruit, the red dragon fruit, then she furrowed her brows but her gaze held some reluctance. Yet, her fork first pierced a piece of cantaloupe.

Zhou Chengchen would never try to figure out what Guo Yue’s contradictory expression of furrowing brows and reluctance meant. Her personality was such that curiosity naturally led her to ask.

"What’s the matter? Don’t like dragon fruit?"

Dragon fruit is the kind of thing some people really love, and others really dislike. Zhou Chengchen casually asked, and Guo Yue smiled lightly, "I really like it, but he doesn’t, so I stopped eating it later."

The piece of mango on Zhou Chengchen’s fork almost fell off.

Seriously?

It’s just fruit, he doesn’t like it; you do. Why shouldn’t you eat it?

Zhou Chengchen internally rolled her eyes, but Guo Yue seemed to find a topic, "Actually, he and I have a lot of different preferences; he’s a tech nerd, but I know very little about computers. He prefers Chinese cuisine, while I lean towards Western; he really likes durian, but I can’t eat it. But I’ve changed all these habits to match his preferences, yet why doesn’t he like me?"

The piece of mango stayed in Zhou Chengchen’s mouth for quite a while, unable to swallow. She blinked, looking at Guo Yue.

Is this a case of delusional thinking?

This thought flashed in her mind, but Zhou Chengchen immediately dismissed it; though she really thought it was a bit naïve, the other person’s somber tone made it too unethical to joke about.
