When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1276: A Life with You, Brilliant and Unparalleled
Zhou Chengchen was stunned, and the person on the other end of the line was also stunned. The next second, Zhou Qi’s loud voice came through the earphones: "Damn, Zhou Chengchen, where are you right now? Who’s that beside you? Huh? Tell me clearly... hello, hello?"
Zhou Chengchen almost hung up the phone before Zhou Qi could finish, then turned angrily to glare at the person next to him: "You did this on purpose, didn’t you?"
Xi Siyan’s expression was calm, but his eyes showed a bit of innocence, making Zhou Chengchen’s heart soften. She quickly reached out to rub Xi Siyan’s face: "Never mind, never mind, he’ll find out sooner or later anyway."
The next second, the innocence was gone, and Xi Siyan squinted, accurately capturing Zhou Chengchen’s lips and pressing her down onto the sofa, kissing her deeply, fiercely.
Zhou Chengchen’s phone rang again, but Xi Siyan didn’t stop. He grabbed it directly, long-pressed the power button, and turned it off.
She had finally come back, and he had finally waited for her. Everything else should take a backseat.
That night, Zhou Chengchen leaned against Xi Siyan, nestled in his arms. Maybe because she had slept too much during the day, even Xi Siyan, who had just recovered from a fever, wasn’t very sleepy.
The two didn’t make any extra moves, just quietly snuggled together, looking through the curtains at the blurry night outside.
They had a lot to say, even if it was trivial, it didn’t matter.
Zhou Chengchen told Xi Siyan about her experiences in the United Kingdom over the past three years and what she had learned from Liu Xiaoyu.
In the end, Zhou Chengchen slightly turned her head to meet Xi Siyan’s eyes: "So, should I say you’re lucky or unlucky?"
Meeting such an esteemed old professor who treated him like his own son should be considered lucky, right? But how sad must he have been at the old professor’s sudden passing?
Xi Siyan held her tighter, paused for a few seconds before saying: "I’m very lucky, you came back."
"...So what if I didn’t come back, what were you planning to do?"
"Stand in the most visible spot, so you could see me."
"And what if I was with someone else?"
"I’d leave, not disturb you."
"You never thought about being with someone else?"
"No."
"Do you really like me that much?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because it’s you."
In such a conversation that wasn’t very meaningful yet delightful to hear, Zhou Chengchen gradually closed her eyes.
Xi Siyan, however, still had no desire to sleep. He laid her body flat, gently turned over, so he could look more closely at the person in front of him.
He was used to solitude, used to being by himself, and used to the changing warmth of society.
He could be alone, could always be alone.
Except for the person in front of him, he never thought about spending the rest of his life with anyone else.
Xi Siyan leaned over, bowed his head, and kissed Zhou Chengchen on the forehead, his dark eyes filled with indescribable attachment.
For me, life without you is black and white; life with you is breathtakingly colorful.
Holding Zhou Chengchen as she fell asleep, Xi Siyan slept peacefully that night. For the past three years, due to stress and burdens, his sleep quality had been poor, but that night was the best sleep he had in three years.
In the morning, Xi Siyan woke up early, with Zhou Chengchen still in his arms. Through the morning light, looking at the girl in his embrace, Xi Siyan curled his lips up in a smile, kissed her again, then slowly got out of bed.
