Chapter 1521: Third Phase Of The Lich King?

All of us looked up at the giant half body of the Lich King bearing down at us.

The good thing was that after it had completed its transformation, the undead knights stopped spawning and my girls at the front line managed to smash the remaining undead knights into pieces, leaving only the Lich King left.

I guess it realised that its undead knights weren’t really effective in dealing with us so it decided to concentrate its power on itself instead.

Its rotting flesh clung to its skeletal frame as its eyes glowed behind its hollow sockets, looking like flames within an abyss.

It raised up its hands, curling them into fists the size of a horse carriage, before slamming them down with surprising speed.

The entire hall shook from the impact and a shockwave blasted out from it.

I raised up my hand to create a wall of light in front of my girls at the same time as Lisa and Tsara, our combined walls managing to hold back the shockwave as it struck against them.

It did not, however, stop the shaking of the ground beneath our feet, causing a few of my girls to lose their footing as they stumbled from the earthquake.

Interestingly, the pillars that had been around us shattered and fell to the ground, which was something that shouldn’t have happened normally since these types of Dungeon constructs should have been indestructible.

I’m guessing the Lich King was intentionally changing the layout of the hall since the pillars would have been in the way.

"Everyone! Attack together!" I ordered, dismissing my Shadow Guards for now since the number of enemies have been reduced and they would have just been in the way of my girls if they remained on the field.

The girls who had managed to stay on their feet or were floating in the air and remained unaffected by the quake responded to my order immediately.

Odeta charged at it fearlessly, taking advantage of the fact that it was still in the midst of pulling back its fist to ’reset’ its stance.

She reached its torso that was jutting out from the ground and pulled back her fist, giving me the chance to later three buffs of [Strength] on her and a layer of [Lightning Clad] on her.

She punched her fist forward, striking against the giant titan form of the Lich King with a thunderous crash.

There was a sickening crunch when her fist made contact with the giant body of the Lich King, indicating that her punch definitely cracked or shattered some of the bones underneath that flesh.

When she pulled her fist back, we could see that the chest of the titan had caved inwards with a large fist imprint on its skin, only for a cracking sound to fill the air as the skin knitted itself back to normal and the bones beneath to reform themselves.

The titan Lich King swept its arms in an arc faster than Odeta could leap away, smacking against her to send her flying off to crash into the wall at the side.

Luckily, I reacted fast enough and used my Lumenmancy to materialise a body armour of light around her, protecting her from most of the impact before I healed her.

Emilia reached the Lich King next, her sword slashing out as she sliced at the outstretched arm of the titan and leaving a long, deep gash along its arm.

But within moments of her leaving that injury, the titan’s flesh was already knitting back together and showing no signs of blood, which I suppose was expected considering it was actually a titan made out of rotten flesh.

We were fighting a moving corpse after all...

The titan tried to swing its arm to smack Emilia as well but she managed to leap out of the way before it could get her, letting Delmare take her place as my Siren rushed in and aimed her rapier at its head, thrusting the blade forward and shooting a jet of water at it.

The water pierced through the head of the titan like a laser but it barely even reacted to the attack as it swung its fist at Delmare, catching my Siren by surprise.

Fortunately, Tiara had been running up behind her and decided to change her direction to slash her own sword at the titan, sending out an air blade that smashed against the arm to slow it down.

That bought Katsuki enough time for her to swoop in and pull my Siren out of the way before she got crushed, the slam creating another shockwave that forced the frontline to back away.

Ira and Tsara were next to reach the titan, both of their magic spells already gathered in their hands as they hovered above the monster.

Dark red lightning shot out from Ira’s palms while a concentrated beam of light came out from Tsara’s palms.

Both beams struck against the flanks of the titan, burning through its flesh and eating away at it as the rotting skin melted away under their spells.

It looked like they were just trying to melt the entire flesh away to expose the inside of the titan, since the actual body of the Lich King was inside it.

But before they could even get very far in their burning, the titan shot out what looked like bone spikes at the both of them, forcing them to stop their spells and flying off to the side to avoid them.

The bones were solid enough that they ended up embedding themselves into the Dungeon walls, which would have no doubt pierced through a normal person’s body and left a gaping hole behind if that had hit someone.

Lisa, Minnera and Lilith were up next, the three of them concentrating on ranged attacks as Minnera fired her dual hand cannons while Lisa and Lilith shot their own spells at it.

While Minnera’s bullets exploded against the titan’s skin to leave burn marks on it, the damage wasn’t really significant as it healed almost instantly from the blow.

Lisa seemed to be going for the more direct approach as her lasers pierced through multiple parts of the titan, as if she was hoping that one of them would be able to hit the Lich King underneath the skin instead.

Lilith had opted to use the fireball again which exploded against its body to start burning it.

But as though the Lich had already expected that, it simply let the burning parts of its body detach from itself before regenerating new parts to replace it.

Ok, this thing is starting to get pretty annoying.

As if responding to my mental complaints the titan swept its arm in an arc, sending forth a blast of air pressure that swept through the hall and threw most of my girls flying back towards me.

I managed to catch them all with my Shadow Guards before they crashed into the wall, using my Aeromancy to redirect that blast of air aside in order to keep my footing.

It then pulled back its fist as though it was preparing to punch at us, which was odd considering that we were at the other end of the hall and completely out of its range.

But then it punched its fist forward and... Its arm actually stretched.

It stretched all the way towards me and I realised a little too late that it had chosen specifically to target me with this punch.

Odeta leapt in front of me before it could crash into me, my Amrap lover planting both feet in the ground and punching forward to meet its fist with her own.

There was a deafeningly loud crash and another shockwave exploded throughout the hall, throwing us around from the impact.

When I looked up, I realised Odeta had been flung into the wall behind me, my Amrap crashing down on the ground before she pushed herself up with a groan, spitting blood out from her mouth.

I immediately activated an AOE heal to patch up all of my girls and also used a single target heal on Odeta as well, seeing that she was hurt the most from that impact.

Tsk... So it can even stretch its own body using its Necromancy to manipulate the flesh that it was controlling like that... And here I thought it was just stuck over there and couldn’t move since it didn’t have legs...

Right as I was trying to think of a strategy to deal with this regenerating, giant, rotting corpse of a titan, the titan itself started to melt like its skin had turned liquid.

I had thought one of my girls had done something to cause that to happen when the melted skin shifted to split into two halves, right as more bones and rotted flesh rose up from the ground to form into two other figures that were similar in size as the first titan.

Soon enough, we were now staring at three of those titans glaring at us.

Great... As if one was not already bad enough... It just got more annoying though.
