Chapter 1520: Lich King

"Did you girls hear that?" I asked, making sure that this was an actual announcement within the Dungeon and not just something that was beamed directly into my head.

"Wahahaha! Of course we did, Sister Aster! As expected of you to be able to make things more interesting!" Odeta laughed.

I did not mean to do this, ok? I was just not willing to waste time with all those requirements and stuff in order to go to the next floor...

Emilia turned to grin at me, "Boss! A Dungeon with a hidden boss would usually give out really good rewards! This is great!"

I blinked at her, "Is this common? For Dungeons to have hidden conditions like this I mean?"

Lisa answered instead, "Not at all. It’s pretty rare so most Dungeoneers would probably go their entire lives without even stepping foot or clearing a Dungeon’s hidden conditions in their lives. More importantly..."

Emilia’s grin widened, "Information about a Dungeon’s hidden condition can sell for a lot, a lot of Creas, Boss!!"

And here I was thinking she was only just excited about the Dungeon clear reward...

Minnera looked around the curiously empty hall of the mansion, "I don’t see any bosses though?"

As soon as she said that, the space around us seemed to change as the mansion’s interior stretched out to impossible proportions before snapping back into place again.

But when it snapped back, we were no longer inside the mansion but inside what looked like the throne room of a castle instead.

Right in front of us was a figure that was seated on a throne made of stone, a figure that was dressed in ornate robes that covered every inch of their skin while a gloved hand was holding on to a large, golden staff.

I’m going to assume that we were now in the room of the hidden boss.

The figure rose up from the throne and my girls and I were immediately in combat stances, all of us moving to our usual formation where I stood in the back acting as my girls’ support, my egg already stored away.

Since this was supposed to be a hidden boss, we don’t know if it’s supposed to be strong so it was better to be safe while I used [Screened] from behind my girls.

"Everyone!! Fight it seriously!" I ordered quickly.

My words were enough for them and no explanations needed to be given, all of them now treating this enemy as one that we had to go all out on.

Even Odeta was not laughing anymore as she lowered herself in a combat stance with her fists raised and her head lowered defensively.

The hood of the robes fell back to reveal a skull which was expected of being a Lich, though this one had an ornate crown resting on its head that was adorned with jewels that glowed with power.

I could feel magic swirl around it as it seemed to be gathering its power to cast a grand spell.

But before it could finish...

BANG!

Minnera fired one of her dual hand cannons to strike the Lich in the head, the force of the blow knocking its head backwards and sending the Lich floating back at least a metre.

It jerked its head back, the void of its eye sockets shining red as though to glare at us for even daring to attack it while it was in midcast of its spell.

Naturally, we didn’t give a crap about what it thought and my girls started shooting their spells at it, raining an entire storm of magic spells cast in its direction.

Our magic spells pounded against it from a distance, pushing it back a few feet before an explosion of mana burst out from the Lich, forming a translucent shield in front of it and blocking all of our spells.

It then raised its staff and the ground in front of the throne shifted to rise up and form into a group of armoured knights wearing jet black armour and wielding all kinds of weapons.

Hmph!! Two can play at that game!

I called up some of my Shadow Guards as well, acting as our backup as my girls surged forwards to start the melee with those undead knights as they charged at us.

Odeta crashed against them first, knocking one of them flying back after she was buffed by my [Strength] spell before she started beating at the others with her bare fists and crushing them like tin cans.

Tiara, Delmare and Emilia were close behind her, their swords slashing and piercing the knights’ armours while clashing against them.

Tsara and Ira had also both risen into the air, raining down their own spells on the horde of undead knights and turning them into nothing but broken metal.

However, for every undead knight that my girls crushed, another one would be there to take its place.

As for the rest of my girls that were not dealing with the undead knights, they have been shooting spell after spell in the direction of the Lich King, only to be stopped by the barrier that it had placed in front of it.

Lisa’s [Laser] barely made any impact on the shield and not even the rapid firing of Minnera’s guns was leaving a scratch on the shield either.

Katsuki had been trying to find a way to go past the barrier to strike at the Lich directly but the barrier seemed to also block people from going through it as well, even though it allowed the undead knights to step through without problem.

I looked to the side to see Lilith gathering her own magic, forming a dark red orb of black flames using her Infernalmancy before she tossed the ball at the barrier.

The ball exploded into black flames that clung to the barrier, continuing to burn it and spread across its surface.

Slowly, cracks appeared on the surface of the barrier and I could see the Lich’s eyes glowing a little brighter though it looked more annoyed than alarmed.

It was already waving its hand around as it gathered its mana to cast another spell while its barrier still protected it.

The cracks soon spread throughout the barrier before it shattered, prompting Lisa, Lilith and Minnera to shoot at the Lich immediately.

Before any of their attacks could land on it however, its figure disappeared, their attacks sailing through the space it had previously occupied harmlessly.

I looked around the throne room to search for it, only to feel a searing heat coming from above which prompted me to look up.

High up above near the ceiling of the throne room was the Lich, its hands stretched out to point its palm downwards and creating a large fireball that looked like it would bathe the entire room with flames if it was allowed to descend.

Right as I was thinking about what to do to counter it, Katsuki appeared behind the Lich and struck at the side of its head with the pommel of her dagger.

The giant fireball suddenly sputtered out of existence as the Lich King was sent flying off to the side from the blow.

Even though it might be strong in magic, its physical defense was pathetically weak.

Katsuki kicked off the ceiling to chase after it but the space around the lich shifted and it disappeared again, avoiding Katsuki’s blow to reappear above its throne once again.

Odeta took that chance to grab one of the undead knights to lob the entire armoured knight at the Lich, but the knight disappeared with a wave of the Lich’s hand before it could hit it.

All of us in the backline fired more spells at it, trying to take it out before it could cast any more spells.

It raised its staff and the blue barrier appeared again, blocking all of our spells easily.

Lilith did not hesitate and was already in the middle of charging up another one of those Infernal fireballs which she had used to burn the shield earlier.

But behind the shield, the Lich was not simply staring at us either.

It stretched its arms out to the side and the entire throne room rumbled as the entire Dungeon seemed to be shaking.

Bones and what looked like rotted flesh then appeared from the ground and the space around the Lich before it flew towards the Lich itself, forming some kind of cocoon around it.

The cocoon expanded outwards as more and more of those bones and flesh flew towards the cocoon until I realised it was forming into the outline of a giant, Mahun shaped figure.

Or at least... It was the upper body of one.

By the time Lilith’s fireball exploded against the barrier, we were already looking at the upper half of a giant zombie titan glaring down at us, its size easily filling up its side of the throne room.

Great... I bet it’s also now physically strong too...

Can it still cast spells in that?
