I managed to keep my face neutral after hearing what she said.

"You want me to join you?" I asked, keeping my voice flat and devoid of surprise.

The girl with the twin tails nodded slowly, as though she was not especially receptive of the idea either.

"We value talent above all else and it is clear that you do have an abundance of it. We are willing to... Set aside any past differences we might have had with you... And we wish to start things afresh once more with you, even if you choose not to join us."

Huh... They are basically here to just tell me that they don’t mind that I beat them up the first time and would like for us to have a good relationship going forward, aren’t they?

Maybe they were worried that I might bear a grudge against them or something and find some way to dismantle them... Which they were obviously of the preference that I did not do that, of course.

Not like I had any plans to do so from the beginning but I guess I might as well just play along to put them at ease, though I also had no intention of joining any clubs or committees right now.

I mean... It’s the first week of school after all... And they were planning to have a club week afterwards so that the clubs and committees could start recruiting the first years which I intend to take a look around.

No offense but... Student affairs committee just sounds boring to me... And I definitely have no interest in managing the affairs of my peers.

I lowered my head slightly, not to the point where I was looking at her straight on but still at an angle so I was still ’looking down’ at her.

"I am flattered that you would extend such an invitation to me... But I’m afraid I will have to turn down your invitation. However, I accept your suggestion to start things afresh."

None of them looked surprised by my words, as though they were already expecting me to reject their offer.

In fact, I could see at least one or two of them looking relieved at my rejection near the back.

They were really just trying to make peace with me I see...

Surprisingly, the girl with the twin drill hairstyle actually looked a little disappointed before she nodded her head, "I understand. But perhaps... When we are formally recruiting members during club week, may I ask that you come over to take a look at what we do? Perhaps you might still be interested then."

"No promises, but I will keep that in mind."

"That is all I could ask for."

She gave me a curtsy so I returned one as well, watching the group leave the hall.

The rest of my classmates sensed that the show was over and also moved to gather their things to leave for the day, but no sooner had the student affairs committee members left... Another student suddenly barged in with a furrowed expression on his face.

He stopped a few steps away from me, his eyes boring into mine and glaring at me like I had just killed his dog or something.

I didn’t say anything and merely waited to see what would happen, only for him to point a finger at me, "Student Aster?"

Wow, rude. Didn’t your mother teach you not to point your finger at someone like that? Tsk...

Do I need to beat you up like the previous group? Look at how polite they were compared to you.

"What do you want?" I asked.

The guy looked at me up and down like he was appraising something about me or just simply committing what I look like to his memory.

He did not answer me directly and continued to stare at me for a few more moments before he finally answered, "You have been causing a lot of trouble lately haven’t you, student Aster?"

Err... So... If you think about it... I haven’t actually done anything much, right?

I mean... The fight with those three seniors happened before school started... And the other events were all instigated or provoked by other people, so it wasn’t because of me...

So when this guy was saying that I did a lot of things... I’m afraid I don’t even know what exactly he was referring to...

Thus, I did the next best thing I could.

I shrugged at him, "I have no idea what you’re talking about."

He furrowed his brows as though my answer had upset him, his eyes boring into me like he was trying to see through me.

Unexpectedly, he jerked a little, like someone had pulled him back by his collar and his gaze shifted to somewhere above me before he straightened himself.

I figured that he was most likely having a telepathic conversation or something since my girls and I would also sometimes act like this when we talk to each other using our rings.

It took him a moment before he returned his gaze to me, his brows furrowing one more time before he pointed his finger once again at me.

This time though, I didn’t let it slide as my tail snaked out from behind me and wrapped itself around his wrist, pulling it downwards so that he was no longer pointing at me.

"Don’t you dare point that finger at me again, ingrate," I warned him, letting my voice drop into a growl.

He seemed surprised and looked down at my tail gripping his wrist, though I can’t tell if he was surprised by the fact that I had a tail, the fact that I dared to pull his wrist down, or the fact that I managed to pull his wrist down.

Because honestly, he was quite strong and I had to put in quite a bit of effort in order to move his arm to begin with.

It took him a moment to recover from that surprise and he seemed to be less hostile now. In fact, he even looked impressed as his face changed to look at me with a more neutral expression instead of the furrowed brows from earlier.

Still, I could sense that he did not approve of me.

"I am just here to warn you... Not to overstep your boundaries."

I scoffed at him, releasing his wrist from my tail, "Boundaries? I know of no such thing."

I expected him to get angry again but surprisingly, he merely let out a short breath before taking a step back from me.

"We will be watching. If we deem you a threat... Then don’t be surprised if you end up hurt," He said with a tone of finality before turning and walking out.

What the heck? Who the heck is ’we’?

You’re really just going to leave and then act like that didn’t happen with zero explanation at all?

If I wasn’t so flabbergasted at how this interaction happened to begin with, I might have just pulled him back and demanded an explanation.

Then again... That might have hurt my image as the noble villain type so I’m glad I didn’t do that.

The sound of whisperings soon came from my classmates behind me after the guy disappeared out of the classroom.

"That’s... That guy is from the Enforcer Committee, isn’t he?"

"Yeah... They’re basically self proclaimed disciplinary enforcers within the school... For them to already be setting their eyes on her..."

"They’re supposedly crazy strong too..."

"Did she do something bad?"

"Ha? Have you been under a rock this entire time? Do you not know who she is? Just yesterday, she beat up a senior student and her tamed creature just because they were in her way! I heard the senior ended up in the infirmary and her creature died!"

Hey!! That’s a blatant lie!! I didn’t kill her stupid lion at all!! And all I did was slap her face and the slap wasn’t even that hard!! This is slander! Lies!! Bullshit!!

Tsk... Either that rumour was spread by the girl herself because she was upset she couldn’t take my egg away from me... Or the onlookers around us blew the event way out of proportion...

Whatever... I already know what I was signing up for when I took this role anyway...

But the Enforcer Committee? What the heck is that?

Is that like the disciplinary committee you might find in those kinds of high schools where students police themselves or something?

The fact that my classmates even specifically attached the words ’self proclaimed’ is a little concerning to me... Especially since I already know that the Academy itself has its own security forces.

I’m assuming the Academy allowed it because having our own peers watch over us felt better than having the Academy’s security forces police us or something...

And it seems like I have also caught their eye at this point? Though it doesn’t look like they were trying to recruit me but more like warning me not to go overboard...

They probably saw all the things that happened and figured out I was not at fault for any of them but just didn’t like that problems were happening around me I guess?

In that case, you guys should be warning the troublemakers, not me!! Hmph!!
