Chapter 299: Their Attempt To Defy A Mortal God

I stepped through the door again, this time taking along one of the guys I found in the bunker to use as a human shield.

The guy I was holding let out a choked cry as I stepped through the doorway with him dangling in front of me.

"Wai... Wait! Don’t... Don’t shoot!"

Either the other survivors didn’t hear it or they didn’t care as a hail of lasers came my way despite his cries.

Naturally, my shield protected me so the only person who was really affected by the lasers was the guy I was holding in front of me.

I didn’t really need a meat shield to begin with but I wanted these guys to die to their own people, that’s why I’m doing this.

I held the guy in front of me, waiting until his body was completely obliterated by the lasers before using my floating arm to reach through the door to pick up another guy off the floor to pass to me so I could hold him up as well.

This guy didn’t even manage to say anything before he was riddled with laser holes, his words turning into gurgles as he felt the lasers pierce through his body indiscriminately.

His body also got torn to shreds pretty quickly, allowing me to do a quick swap with the next person which happened to be some girl that was screaming obscenities at me.

I ignored her in favour of thinking that it was a great help that their bodies were being torn apart so completely that they wouldn’t be able to mutate into Anomalies at least.

The girl I was holding quickly stopped screaming when she was getting eviscerated by the lasers, making me wonder if those guys on the walls did not even care they were killing their own allies or they did not even notice at all.

There was one more guy I had to use as a shield since I was leaving Ach and that other guy alive for now, but it seemed like the other side realised their weapons were useless and stopped shooting when I dragged the other guy out from the door.

I was a little disappointed that they stopped shooting as I looked up at the guys standing on top of the walls, silently asking them to continue and finish this guy off.

When they didn’t do it, I turned to look at the guy I was holding in my hand, wondering what I should do with him while ignoring his choked groans and his pleading for mercy.

Seeing that I had no other use for him, I pulled back my hand before throwing it forward, launching the guy towards the centre of the wall that was made out of scrap metal and various different furniture stacked on top of one another.

The guy crashed into the wall with such force that his limbs and body broke apart from the force of hitting the wall before the rest of the wall exploded from the impact, throwing pieces of debris all around the place.

Someone panicked and shot at me but that was still useless since my shield was still up.

I reacted by sending my floating fist flying forward, smashing apart that part of the wall that he was standing at and obliterating both the wall and the guy from existence.

With the middle and left side of the wall obliterated, that left the right side still remaining so I went ahead to destroy that too by sending my other floating fist flying through it.

The people that were on that side were at least smart enough to get off the wall before I destroyed it so only a few of them got smashed into meat paste by my floating fist.

I then strolled forward, ignoring the lasers that were still being shot at me by the remaining survivors.

Someone threw something at me which burst into flames on my shield when it shattered, revealing that it was something similar to a molotov cocktail or something.

I reached out my hand and gathered the flames before throwing it back at the person who threw it at me to begin with, burning him alive.

I walked past him dispassionately as he screamed and rolled on the ground, the flames not going out at all since I was maintaining it until he burned to ashes.

Continuing to stride forward, I reached out my hands to strike a few that were near me with lightning, sending them flying away to crash against the wall with holes through their torsos before they get burned into ash.

Some who tried to rush at me got punched or smashed by my floating arms before they spontaneously combusted, leaving no trace of them.

At the very back, I found the woman who had been the leader of this group, holding one of those laser scanner guns and positioning herself in front of another group of survivors that were unarmed.

If I remember correctly, she’s named Hrav... But I don’t really care about names at the moment.

The remaining survivors gathered at her side, forming a defensive line in front of me.

I stopped a few steps away, staring at them with a dispassionate expression on my face while letting six floating arms hover above me.

She stood in front of her group defiantly, staring me down without fear.

"Do it, you mutant bastard..." She growled.

I created another teleportation door and opened it, allowing two of my floating hands inside to pull out Ach and the other guy to dump them on the ground in front of me.

"You could have lived. Could have survived. Could have started a new life in our World instead. You decided to throw that chance away... For what?"

She spat on the ground, "You really think mutants like you and normal people like us could ever live in peace?"

"We were at least willing to give it a try. But you weren’t, it seems."

"You brought us to be locked up in a small enclosure there. Don’t act like this was anything but trying to enslave us."

"Even if we were to assume that is true... What did you think was going to happen to all of you after you did that?"

She smirked, "Hmph... You thought we were disconnected, didn’t you? We have always maintained a network with other survivor colonies, all of us prepared to rise up the moment we are ready to take our world back! And since you so helpfully cleared out this town of those monsters for us, we are now ready to strike back again!"

As if on cue, I felt the ground rumble like there was an earthquake rocking the earth beneath our feet.

A part of the wall suddenly broke and fell away and I realised an entire portion of the mall had broken apart and fallen away, revealing the town outside to us.

The source of the earthquake was soon revealed as a giant drill pierced through the ground, revealing a giant vehicle half the size of this town burst out from below the earth to slam down on the outskirts of the town.

The woman smirked at me, "There’s over thousands of us... You could deal with just a few dozen of us, but with all of us united together... You are just one person! This world will be ours again and you will die!! We don’t need your useless help! We will take this world back! And we would even go through that portal and kill the people in your world as well and take your things for ourselves! So fuck you!"

I didn’t even bother saying anything to her as I let myself float up into the air and out of the mall, dismissing my floating gauntlets and materialising them again with the proper runes etched on their surface.

I’m pretty sure I wasn’t imagining it this time, but I could feel the life energy around me responding to my will as I clasped my palms together.

Even without looking, I could sense I had a halo behind me right now as I rearranged the gauntlets to form the formation I needed to create the heavenly lightning I wanted.

The gauntlets pressed themselves together and the formation became active, causing the clouds above the giant vehicle to turn dark and thunder to rumble.

Energy gathered and I let it charge up for a full minute as I maintained the formation before a giant beam of heavenly lightning came crashing down on the drill vehicle, engulfing half of it in its embrace and disintegrating it into nothingness.

With the other half remaining, I floated closer towards it, stretching out my hands to control lightning, earth, water, wood and fire to gather around me before I threw my hands forward to point my palms at the remaining half of the vehicle.

A giant earthen wall sprouted up from the ground to surround the vehicle, its outsides strengthened by plants growing around it.

The inside of the giant crucible I made then got flooded by water that rained down from the sky, quickly filling it up to the brim.

Once the entire thing was filled, lightning struck the water repeatedly, electrocuting it and whoever was inside the water.

It went on for a few minutes until a column of lightning struck the water with enough heat to disintegrate the liquid, leaving behind a dry crucible again.

That then went up in flames, turning it into a geyser of fire as the flames consumed whatever was left behind.

I watched as the fire shot up inside the hole like a volcano in the midst of an eruption before turning back to float back to the mall, the remaining survivors no longer looking defiant but completely fearful instead.

Good... If you guys weren’t afraid, this next part would have been boring...
