Chapter 547 - 300: The War of Gold

  • Next Chapter

The Old Cowboy exhaled a cloud of green smoke. Through the haze, the Dragon Knight was still wreathed in flames. The Old Cowboy whispered, "But a madman."

"Let’s go. It’s our time to take the stage."

"What are we going to do?" Adam asked.

"Hey, Adam. Your father gave you that name hoping you would become a leader for the Van Helsing Family, but you’re acting like you never took a bite of the goddamn Wisdom Fruit."

"Alright, kid. Now, I’m going to teach you life’s second lesson."

Abraham ground the cigarette out on the floor. Greenish smoke trickled from his nostrils and chapped lips. "When an opportunity is presented to you, you seize it."

"Baron Constantin, how dare you!!!" the Golden Beast Hunting Demon Hunter roared. "You ignored the Law and murdered Elder Pence in public! According to the laws of the Inner Side, the Demon Hunter Association has the right to apprehend you, deliver you to the court, and make you face Judgement!"

"No one can save you now!"

After saying this, the acting chairman of the Demon Hunter Association kicked Adam. Adam snapped to his senses, transformed into a Werewolf under the Red Moon, and lunged at the Baron, his movements like a falcon striking its prey.

The other Demon Hunters followed suit.

The Golden Demon Hunter’s brazen attack jolted everyone else into action. The Elders of the Old Blood Clans erupted in fury!

They had never seen anyone as insolent as Baron Constantin, someone who showed them such complete disregard!

He had shown zero hesitation, murdering Elder Pence right before their very eyes!

’Even if Elder Pence was suspected of colluding with the Dragon Eater Association to frame Baron Constantin, does that mean you’re completely blameless, Baron Constantin?’

This time, they didn’t summon the younger members of the Old Race from their clans, but chose to intervene personally.

The Elders of the Old Blood Clans were no pushovers. Quite the opposite; it was precisely because of their outstanding strength in their prime that they had earned their positions as Elders of their respective clans.

Even if their individual powers had waned under the influence of [Time], they were still Law Enforcers. The weakest among them was at least Bronze Tier. As for Silver Tier—that was usually the level of a Patriarch.

The reason they hadn’t personally intervened before was twofold: first, they felt it was beneath their station as Elders of the Old Blood Clans, and second, they lacked a justifiable reason.

But now, they had a reason. Dragon Knight Baron Constantin had ignored the pleas of the many Old Blood Clan Elders and high-ranking members of the Law Enforcement Organization present and killed Elder Pence. According to the Law stipulated by the Prole Court, they were now fully justified in intervening to apprehend the Dragon Knight.

As for their real motive for capturing the Dragon Knight? Pay it no mind. If anyone asked, the official reason was that the Dragon Knight had flouted the Law of the Inner Side, and they were simply upholding justice and righting a wrong.

The deeper reason, of course... Dragon Knight Baron Constantin was so young and powerful. Whichever clan could recruit or ally with him would, without a doubt, gain a future Silver Tier Law Enforcer. With Elder Pence now dead, this was the most logical move.

In an instant, a multitude of terrifyingly powerful auras locked onto the Dragon Knight.

Isabella immediately moved to rally the Dragon Slayers, but this time she didn’t need to say a word; the Dragon Slayers were already assembled and ready.

Even the few hardliners from the Beowulf Clan were no exception.

Elder Pence was dead, and with him, the worst of the accusations against the Dragon Knight were cleared. The risk, it could be said, was now minimal.

Combine that with the talent and power he had just displayed, the Beowulf Clan’s Golden Dragon Spear in his possession, and his status as a Free Man (Baron Constantin had been expelled from the Constantine Clan).

If they brought him back to the clan, the Beowulf Clan would surely gain another Silver Tier Law Enforcer in the future.

Therefore, not even the hardline Elders and Household Servants dared to obstruct their leader’s command. Anyone who dared suggest that going to such lengths for Baron Constantin was not worth it would likely face Judgement upon their return to the clan.

But just as Isabella was about to step forward to help, she was stopped by Paperman Lucy, who tugged out Gold and Silver Rings from within her hair.

"Isabella, look at the sky!"

She looked toward the sky, and everyone else followed her gaze.

WHOOSH...

Accompanied by an extreme sound of rushing air, everyone saw a flash of overwhelmingly powerful white light streak across the sky. With irresistible force, the white light tore through the remnants of Berthelili’s Barrier and shot straight toward Traitor’s Cliff.

The Law Enforcers were utterly baffled. The Old Blood Elders exchanged bewildered glances. Only the Templar Knights’ faces changed dramatically; to say they were dumbstruck would be an understatement.

The only one who remained unfazed was Abraham. The Old Cowboy had already grabbed the Dragon Knight’s shoulder, flashing Baron a smile that he himself considered friendly.

"I need your help with something. Humor me."

But the Dragon Knight remained expressionless. His Golden Eyes stared at the Old Cowboy without a hint of emotion—or more accurately, they were staring past him, at the white-haired, armored Knight emerging from the descending beam of white light.

"Chairman Abraham," the Knight said coolly, "is it really proper for the Chairman of the Demon Hunter Association to be poaching a Contract Knight?"

The Old Cowboy sighed. "Bode Hall Master, if I recall correctly, Baron Constantin isn’t a Knight of your Holy Hall, either."

At his words, all the Templar Knights—except for the Celestial Horse Knights who were by the cliff, assisting the Wizards in reinforcing the seal—saluted the elderly Knight.
