Westminster Bank
Chapter 544 - 298: Go to Hell Together! (2)
He had taken this necklace from Prole’s Undead Knight, assuming it was just some kind of token or ornament.
He hadn’t expected that just moments ago, after blood from his wound dripped onto it, the Lion Carved Chain had begun to faintly emit fluctuations of Spiritual Power. The Golden Lions had then sensed these subtle fluctuations, which led to the current scene.
Baron continued forward. The Golden Lions prostrated on the ground began to dissipate as he advanced. This bizarre scene once again shattered the worldview of all the Law Enforcers present—even though their worldviews had already collapsed and been rebuilt countless times over the course of this single, short night.
Even though the Golden Lions had departed for some unknown reason, even more Law Enforcers than before had now gathered to surround the Dragon Knight... These were the reinforcements who had come to Berthelili from the outside.
Stella pushed the gold-rimmed glasses up the bridge of her nose and looked at Governor Howard. "Governor, should we save him? It looks like our commissioner is more interested in mutual destruction. According to the risk assessment, saving him would likely be a failed investment."
Governor Howard’s expression was conflicted. At last, with a deep sigh, he said, "Secretary Stella, in your eyes, do I, a vice-governor, really seem like one of those Jews who only cares about profit?"
"Baron Constantin is an SS Level commissioner of our Westminster Bank. As stipulated in the Westminster Commissioner’s Code, we at Westminster must support him unconditionally, no matter what he chooses to do."
Howard said, "Since he wants revenge, the best we can do is clear the obstacles from his path—the ones far beyond his current ability to handle."
He snapped his fingers. "Half-Dragon: simulate the descent of the Pure-blood Ancient Dragon, Thunder Dragon. Cost: 100 catties of gold."
Meanwhile, the Dragon Knight was still dragging Elder Pence toward the cliff. He was so beset by Law Enforcers that each step was a monumental effort. Worse, the Golden Dragon Spear piercing his chest pinned him to the struggling Elder Pence, severely restricting his ability to fight back.
And yet, despite being so hampered, the Law Enforcers still couldn’t halt the Dragon Knight’s ascent. Among the attackers were several at the Bronze Tier!
Even though Isabella and her Dragon Slayers intercepted most of them, three or four still slipped through. Yet even they, along with the other Law Enforcers of various professions, were no match for the Dragon Knight.
This even caused some of the Bronze Tier Law Enforcers, who were instantly defeated by the Dragon Knight, to fall into a state of temporary self-doubt. ’Can the gap between those at the Bronze Tier truly be this vast?’ they wondered.
When the Little Fire Dragon at the Dragon Knight’s side used an explosion to push back the approaching Battle Sister Lian, he was only about ten steps from the cliff’s edge.
"Baron Constantin! Stop!"
The Elders of the Old Blood Clan tried to block the Dragon Knight’s path, but it was useless. No one could stop him. They could only watch helplessly as the silver figure charged up the mountain with the struggling Elder Pence in tow, like Sisyphus pushing his boulder.
At last, Celestial Horse Yisur sighed, muttered, "What a pain," and teleported directly into the Dragon Knight’s path.
"The Holy Hall has given an order. Elder Pence is to be handed over to us for Judgement. Dragon Knight, you can release him now."
The Dragon Knight didn’t even look at him, brushing right past.
"My apologies. This is an order from the Holy Hall."
Celestial Horse Yisur, wearing white gloves, lunged for him without warning. Baron twisted to dodge, but if he couldn’t evade a Silver Tier Law Enforcer’s attack at full strength, it was even more impossible now.
He could only watch as Celestial Horse Yisur’s hand descended upon his shoulder... when suddenly, a dragon roared.
It wasn’t the Mad Dragon from the Abyss, but a roar from another direction.
Everyone looked toward the foot of the mountain. There, the Giant Dragon that had been dozing quietly spread its wings and soared into the sky, its form blotting out the sun and moon.
Then, to everyone’s utter shock, it dove from the sky, unleashing a torrent of thunderbolts that precisely struck every Law Enforcer besieging Baron Constantin.
The Thunderbolt that descended upon Celestial Horse Yisur was far larger than any of the others. The moment it struck, a thick, burnt smell filled the air.
A pillar of purple energy completely enveloped Celestial Horse Yisur, yet, bizarrely, it didn’t touch the Dragon Knight or the Elder Pence he carried.
Abraham took a drag from his cigarette and glanced at the sky. "The S Level Taboo Item, Half-Dragon. Including that staircase from before, this is the second S Level Taboo Item they’ve used, isn’t it? Considering their prior dealings, Westminster has really spared no expense for the Dragon Knight this time.
’It seems the Westminster S Level commissioner who caused such a stir on the Inner Side recently must be Baron Constantin. If I’m not mistaken, Hoover has probably decided to let the Dragon Knight join that particular plan.’"
Meanwhile, Celestial Horse Yisur used his Spiritual Power to shatter the remnants of the Thunderbolt clinging to his body. But by the time he located the Dragon Knight again, his quarry had already reached the edge of Traitor’s Cliff with Elder Pence.
Just as he was about to charge forward again, Jill Hestia and her Griffin blocked his path.
"I’m sorry, but I can’t let you pass."
Celestial Horse Yisur said, "The Dragon Knight is trying to kill an Elder of your Hestia Family."
Jill replied coolly, "After today, it’s questionable whether the Hestia Family will even exist on the Inner Side anymore."
Celestial Horse Yisur fell silent.
Jill Hestia had a point.
In the eyes of the various Law Enforcement Organizations, Pence Hestia’s collusion with the nefarious Dragon Eater Association was a foregone conclusion. While some old monsters from the Inner Side might protect Elder Pence due to his unique status, the Hestia Family enjoyed no such special protection.
Even as one of the Six Great Knight Clans, the other Old Blood Clans and Law Enforcement Organizations on the Inner Side would use this as an excuse to tear a piece of flesh from the Hestia Family.
...
The closer he got to the cliff’s edge, the more the Dragon Knight felt his Spiritual Power being suppressed. He understood this was the effect of the ward the Golden Mage had placed here long ago.
According to the Golden Mage’s design, the higher a Law Enforcer’s Tier, the greater the suppression they would feel. This was all to prevent the Law auras of High Tier Law Enforcers from disturbing the Mad Dragon sealed within.
Under the influence of this ward, Elder Pence’s struggles also weakened considerably.
"You want to use the Mad Dragon to kill me?" Elder Pence whispered, his eyes on the mountain-sized shadow in the Abyss. "But have you ever considered if any of this is worth it?"
Baron said nothing. Amidst the cries of the Old Blood Elders and the thunderous footsteps of the approaching Law Enforcers, he simply continued to lean back weakly with Elder Pence, slowly tipping over the edge of the cliff.
Everyone present stared, their eyes wide, as if trying to burn every detail of the unfolding scene into their memory.
The eldest daughter, Isabella, stopped fighting and watched in silence.
Governor Howard’s face twitched.
The eyes of the Extremely Enchanting Witch Barbara glinted, her thoughts unreadable.
The Pound Siblings were a mix of joy and sorrow... but most simply stared blankly, their expressions frozen, watching as the Dragon Knight and Elder Pence fell toward the cliff like stubborn boulders toppling in the wind.
The Mad Dragon’s roar echoed from the Abyss once more, sounding disturbingly like a cold, human laugh.
But just then, the unexpected happened!!!
Elder Pence suddenly grabbed the Golden Dragon Spear that pinned him to Baron, and with a great roar, he ripped it out!!!
Baron let out a choked grunt, his body nearly collapsing, but he held his ground. He did not fall.
At the same time, however, Elder Pence had already moved behind him.
"Baron Constantin, you did well to force me into such a sorry state. But this is where it ends."
