Some of the Wizards on the cliff’s edge had also noticed the anomaly. They all looked up at the golden sun.

The Golden Lion had arrived. Even though it only revealed a pair of amber eyes from within the golden sun, a pressure that seemed to hail from a primordial age instantly swept across the battlefield, crushing everyone until they could hardly breathe.

An expression of glee appeared on Elder Pence’s face.

He used his remaining Spiritual Power to suppress the blood rising in his throat and roared wildly, "Golden Lion, save me!"

The Golden Lion glanced at him. With just that one look, Elder Pence fell silent, his blood running cold.

The Golden Lion seemed to be sizing up Elder Pence and Baron, who was dragging the Elder along in a desperate run. Then it let out a Lion’s Roar. The sound was like thunder, and with that single bellow, all Law Enforcers and Old Bloods below the Silver Tier were struck with splitting headaches. The Spiritual Power in their veins erupted into chaos, forcing them to shut their eyes and focus all their will on withstanding the soul-shaking cry.

When they opened their eyes again, they saw dozens of majestic Golden Lions now standing on the cliff. Judging by their Spiritual Pressure, every one of them was at the Bronze Tier.

Joy lit up Elder Pence’s face.

It wasn’t just because the Golden Lions had appeared. The roar had also dissipated the Dragon Knight’s will that had suppressed him, allowing his Spiritual Power to surge and replenish with every breath.

At the same time, the Golden Lion within the giant, golden wheel faded away, its task complete. Instantly, the pack of lions on the cliff and the recovered Law Enforcers charged at the Dragon Knight.

At a command from the eldest daughter, Isabella, the Dragon Slayers swarmed down to intercept the Law Enforcers.

The Lion-eyed Knights had wanted to charge down as well, but the Lancelot Family Head never once retracted his Domain. All they could do was watch helplessly as the Golden Lions rushed toward the utterly exhausted Dragon Knight.

But the Dragon Knight remained unmoved. He let the claws tear and blades strike him, continuing his climb toward the peak one step at a time. He resembled a pious pilgrim from the East on a sacred journey. The only difference was that instead of holy incense, the Dragon Knight carried Elder Pence.

Nevertheless, the addition of so many Golden Lions created a significant obstacle for the Dragon Knight, who was already a spent force.

He was covered in wounds, a figure drenched in blood.

As for Elder Pence, his hostage... the incredible regenerative abilities of a Silver Tier had already healed all his wounds. Even the gashes that had resisted the Silver Flame were forced to knit shut, extinguishing the flames within.

In the end, only the Golden Dragon Spear impaling Elder Pence’s chest remained, threatening to be dislodged at any moment!

From the Abyss below, the Mad Dragon suddenly roared, the sound echoing far into the desolate night.

Governor Howard sent a hushed message to Baron via his Spiritual Power. "Give up, Baron Constantin. You can’t kill him... Give up.

He’s a Silver Tier Contract Knight. You’ve already done enough. Westminster Cathedral will step in to protect you now... Just stop!"

Isabella eased her assault as well, sending Baron a message with her Spiritual Power. "Is all this really necessary?"

Baron didn’t pause for a moment. He continued to use his Dragon Flame to drive away the closing Golden Lions. Even when they shattered the bones in his hand and broke his leg, he kept limping onward, dragging Elder Pence toward the cliff’s edge.

Everyone understood what Baron Constantin intended to do. As a Bronze Knight, he couldn’t truly kill Elder Pence. Therefore, he planned to use the Mad Dragon in the abyss below—to drag Elder Pence off the cliff with him, just as he had done with the Dragon Witch, even if it cost him his life.

Everyone was shaken by the Dragon Knight’s resolve.

Or perhaps "shaken" was the wrong word. "Terrified" was more like it.

’What kind of hatred could drive a man to ignore so many people trying to stop him, to fight with such reckless abandon, all just to drag Elder Pence into death with him!’

Having recovered some of his strength, Elder Pence tried to break free from the Dragon Knight’s grasp, but the Dragon Spear impaling them both held them locked together. He couldn’t separate them, even after breaking several of the Dragon Knight’s bones.

He grew furious and ordered the pack of Golden Lions to tear the Dragon Knight’s body to shreds.

Receiving the command, the Golden Lions surged forward.

Saint Elvin shook his head. "The man is a lunatic. Thank God he’s not after me."

Faith Knight Jiang Ge crossed his arms, observing from on high. "Baron Constantin. A waste of his talent. With the Old Blood of the Constantine Family, he could have reached the same heights as his father."

"His father?"

"Fran Constantin. The previous Patriarch of the Constantine Clan, a Silver Knight, and the Leader of the Dragon Heart Knight Order. He was once considered the most likely to succeed Golden Knight Bode."

"But didn’t Fran Constantin have a falling out with the Holy Hall in the end? I never found out why... though rumor has it the matter was related to your Holy Cross Association." Elvin’s eyes were filled with curiosity.

Jiang Ge replied honestly, "That is a secret within the Holy Hall. I cannot speak of it."

Elvin’s eyes darted around. "Was it related to the Constantine Family’s Old Blood? I bet you’re going to lie and say it wasn’t."

"..." Jiang Ge shot Elvin a look, saying nothing.

Just then, the Golden Lions besieging the Dragon Knight suddenly stopped. They lowered their heads, submitting to the barely-surviving Dragon Knight before them.

This sudden turn of events left everyone baffled. The Lancelot Family Head, however, shuddered as if he’d just witnessed something impossible, his face a mask of utter disbelief.

Elder Pence was also stunned. "What did you do?"

Baron still didn’t answer. He simply reached up and silently touched his Lucky Goddess Necklace—and the Lion Carved Chain right next to it.
