Chapter 480 265: At Least I Ate One Less Day of Pizza
"Miss Eldest... a Dragon Tide... a Dragon Tide has erupted in the Dracul Mountain Range!"
The expression on Miss Eldest's face froze.
Kendall frantically pointed toward the main gate, pausing before shouting, "And it's heading toward Berthelili!"
"A Dragon Tide erupted?"
The faces of the assembled Law Enforcers turned grim in an instant. Dewey and Gold exchanged a look, just as Knight Commander Sad demanded in a harsh voice:
"Are you telling the truth? If this is false information, I won't be lenient!"
Kendall immediately replied, "Every word is true! Send someone to check if you don't believe me... Besides Third Generation Species, there are also Dragon Race subspecies in the Dragon Tide! I saw it—a white dragon!"
His eyes were wide with terror as he yelled, "I'm the only one from my Dragon Slayer team who made it out alive... That Dragon Tide... it's charging down toward the auction house!"
Silver Lion Wilder frowned. "What did you say?!"
The guests, who had just recovered from the Blood Control and were still processing the news that Dragon Devourer Cultists had laid an ambush at the auction, erupted into another commotion over this sudden development.
'What do they mean, a Dragon Tide from the Dracul Mountain Range is heading this way?'
'What do they mean, the one leading the Dragon Tide is the Dragon Witch?'
'What do they mean, the Dragon Knight Constantine attacked Traitor's Cliff?'
'What do they mean, the Dragon Tide is charging down toward the auction house?'
Some of the younger ladies began to sob outright. To put it plainly, they were scared to tears.
Wilder and the Law Enforcers rushed out of the hall and through the main gate. Looking up, they saw lightning flash and thunder crack over the distant mountain range, the roar like a torrential storm. In a brief flash of white light, they saw a dense, dark mass on the mountains—a horde of various Dragon Descendants. Among them were several figures as towering as small hills, their Tier no lower than Third Generation Species.
Judging by the distance, they were only about a dozen miles away. At the speed of Dragon Descendants, it would likely take them only a few minutes to reach the foot of the mountain.
"My God..." The Law Enforcers held their breath, an involuntary sigh escaping their lips.
Isabella made a snap decision. "Summon all Law Enforcers at the auction! Demon Hunters, Knights, Wizards—gather every last one of them!"
Silver Lion Wilder added, "Assemble the Templar Knights!"
He continued, "Half will follow Knight Commander Sad to the Lion Eye Knight Order's garrison. The other half will stay behind with me to deal with the Dragon Tide!"
Wizard K from the London Tower said, "I'll request backup."
With that, he pulled a Magic Staff from his coat and tapped a Magic Card. In an instant, the card transformed into a silver arc and shot toward the sky.
Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief. With a Wizard from the London Tower calling for reinforcements, this Dragon Tide crisis seemed halfway solved.
Until the shimmering silver arc shattered at an altitude of about six thousand feet.
Wizard K frowned, pulling another three Magic Cards from his coat. After touching them with his Magic Staff, they transformed into three silver arcs and soared into the sky, only to shatter at the same altitude.
The shattering of the silver arcs was beautiful, like an explosion of mercury.
But Wizard K's expression darkened. "An Alchemy Barrier. Someone has set up an Alchemy Barrier to seal off Berthelili! It's strong enough to resist Silver Tier attacks for at least half an hour. It must have been in place for a long time. This is a trap!"
Upon hearing this, the dignitaries, nobles, and members of the Old Blood and Old Race present were all stunned.
Isabella said, "This Dragon Tide couldn't have erupted without reason. Someone must be guiding it. And besides Dragon Slayers and Dragon Guides, the only ones with such means are the cultists of the Dragon Eater Association."
Her gaze suddenly shot toward Elder Pence, her sharp eyes like lightning. "Why did the Hestia Family suddenly propose to hold the auction ahead of schedule today?"
Elder Pence replied calmly, "To catch the Dragon Witch off guard, leaving her no time to prepare."
Baron glanced at KK, who shrugged. "Well, he succeeded. At least I had to skip a day of pizza for this."
Isabella said, "After this incident, I will petition the Prole Court and launch an investigation into the Hestia Family, Lancelot's Family, the Beowulf Family, and all the other Old Blood Clans that co-hosted this auction."
Elder Pence said, "Proving our innocence is indeed necessary."
Jiang Ge, a Faith Knight from the Holy Cross Association, spoke up. "Since the Dragon Eater Association sealed the Barrier, their objective must be significant. Berthelili is home to Traitor's Cliff, which suppresses the Mad Dragon. I suspect that might be their ultimate target."
But Wizard K laughed. The others turned to look at him as he said, "Traitor's Cliff is guarded by Wizards from my London Tower. The Alchemy Matrix we've laid out can trap even a Silver Tier for two or three days. Furthermore, it contains a seal jointly cast by two Golden Mages."
"The Dragon Eater Association's cultists have no chance of breaking through."
The others heard this and thought it made sense. At the same time, they couldn't help but feel impressed. The London Tower was the London Tower, after all. Having the world's number one Golden Mage was their greatest source of confidence.
With that thought, everyone's tense nerves relaxed considerably... 'Wait, what are we relaxing for? There are Dragon Devourer Cultists led by a Dragon Knight here, a Dragon Tide as mighty as a tsunami, and Berthelili is sealed by a Barrier, so no message can get out... The danger here is far from over!'
Seeing someone direct a question at him, Wizard K looked stunned for a moment, then shook his head. "The Wizards stationed at Traitor's Cliff won't be coming to help. It's not that they don't want to, but they cannot leave Traitor's Cliff, not even for a single step, because they are guarding the Mad Dragon."
"Besides..." Wizard K suddenly scratched his face, as if there was something he was reluctant to say. "I think we'd be better off saving ourselves than counting on them."
Hearing this, Wilder drew a longsword from the Storage Stone at his waist and slashed toward the sky.
A massive, silver lunar disc appeared in the pitch-black, curtain-like night sky. It was called a lunar disc, but it was actually an illusion created by Wilder's propelled Sword Qi.
The bolt of Sword Qi was silver and, from a distance, looked to be at least three or four miles long. It curved in a great arc, its innermost silver glow appearing a mile wide. The mere arc of the blade sent the small Winged Dragons, the vanguard of the Dragon Tide, flying through the air.
A gasp of awe went through the crowd, not just because the bolt of Sword Qi was a magnificent sight, flowing ceaselessly like a silver river in the night...
...but because this silver radiance never paused or faltered. It surged upward like a true torrent of water, splitting the curtain of the sky in two and revealing a mercury-colored lunar disc within. The cutting arc didn't stop after slicing through the curtain; it continued onward, smashing against the true, mercury-colored moon wheel in the sky until it shattered.
But unlike the Magic Cards Wizard K had sent up, this time it wasn't just the Sword Qi that shattered—so did the lunar disc.
Visible cracks appeared on the mercury-colored lunar disc. It fractured like a struck crystal, and the sound of its shattering cascaded down like liquid mercury.
Wilder sheathed his sword. "It will take me at least thirty minutes to chisel a crack in this Barrier," he said. "But the Dragon Tide has subspecies and Third Generation Species equivalent to the Silver Tier. I'm afraid you all won't last that long."
Saint Elvin said, "My thoughts exactly."
A great wave of despair washed over the crowd. These people felt they were facing death, and as the old saying goes, all are equal in the face of death.
Therefore, it was understandable that the despair of the Old Blood Nobility was even greater than that of the Bloodless.
Suddenly, from far away in the mountains, came a dragon's roar like the Doomsday Horn. In another flash of lightning, the crowd could faintly make out a red figure on the back of a colossal silver dragon within the Dragon Tide.
"It's the Dragon Witch!" a guest in the crowd shouted. "I recognize her! That's the Dragon Witch on the dragon's back!"
"The Dragon Witch? This Dragon Tide is being commanded by the Dragon Witch? Does she want to turn us into her followers too?!"
"First the Dragon Eater Association and the Blood Race, then a Dragon Knight, and now the Dragon Witch. What in the world are they all doing here? Is it all just for the Red Dragon Reverse Scale?"
