Chapter 844: Chapter 843: I Mean It (2)
Bella Acker felt a little touched by the words.
"With the old man backing me, who dares to bully me?" Bella joked, "I can turn into a crab and walk sideways from now on."
"Of course, you can walk however you like. If anyone is dissatisfied, let them come to me, this old man!" The old man proudly slapped his chest, showing his determination to support his granddaughter-in-law no matter what.
The old butler standing nearby said with a smile, "Ms. Acker, you might not know, everything about the master is good except for a habit he’s had since childhood—protecting his own. Whether our family is in the right or not, outsiders can’t bully us. When he’s protecting someone, he is completely unreasonable."
"That’s for sure," the old man immediately said, "Family is family, behind closed doors we can teach and discipline however we want, but outside, if outsiders want to bully our family, that won’t work. Even if they have a point, they’re still bullying. The saying that one hand can’t clap on its own, even three-year-old kids understand, so why don’t they?"
"Yes, yes, everything you said makes sense." The old butler replied somewhat helplessly, "Please don’t get too worked up, or your blood pressure will rise again."
The old man snorted and turned to say, "Young Acker, from now on if anyone dares to bully you, just tell me, don’t be afraid."
"Okay, if I encounter any trouble, I’ll definitely come to you first for help," Bella said with a smile. "I just hope at that time, you won’t find me too troublesome."
"How could that be? I’m currently so idle that apart from tending flowers, brewing tea, reading books, and fishing, I have nothing to do. It would be great if you could keep me busy every day." The old man, now enjoying the twilight years, feels very idle.
The more idle he is, the more he hopes for younger people to come and keep him company. But the younger ones are busy pursuing their careers, and it’s good if they can come see him, have a meal with him once every three or five months.
That’s why when the old man sees Talia, he almost wants to snatch the adorable girl back home to raise, bringing so much vitality.
"Alright, I’ll bring Talia and Ethan over more often to bother you, until you find us annoying." Bella knew how lonely the old man was, so she jokingly yet seriously said.
"That would be great." The old man expressed his anticipation, "Young Acker, you have to bring Talia and Ethan over more to keep me company. How about this, Young Acker, aren’t there times when you have to go out of town for filming? If no one can take care of Talia, or if there’s no one to pick her up from school, she can be brought to me, living here would be even better."
"Old man, are you serious?" Bella asked, "I’m planning to move out from my godmother’s place after the New Year. If I’m busy with work, and my godmother goes off filming too, can I send Talia here?"
"Of course you can!" The old man was so excited he almost rose from his wheelchair, luckily the old butler coughed to remind him, or his feigned illness would be exposed.
"I was just worrying about whether I should hire a nanny for Talia, now this issue is resolved." Bella said with a smile. "Old man, I’ll be relying on you then."
The old man was overjoyed and immediately turned to the old butler, "Quickly, have someone prepare things that kids like, all designed by top-tier children’s designers."
