Chapter 843 - 842: I Really Mean It
Chapter 843: Chapter 842: I Really Mean It
Talking about sleeping last night, Bella Acker remembered being seen by everyone sleeping in the same room with Damian Sinclair, and she felt a bit embarrassed. She had a sense that the old man’s question had a deeper meaning, which made her cheeks flush.
"What’s wrong?" Noticing her blushing, the old man asked, "Young Acker, are you catching a cold? Let me check if you have a fever."
Bella Acker dared not step forward for him to check, quickly saying, "Old man, I’m fine, don’t worry."
"Oh, I saw your cheeks were red and thought you might have a cold or fever." The old man looked relieved and said, "Young Acker, if you’re feeling unwell, just say so. This is your home, don’t feel uneasy."
"Old man, you see, I’m not uneasy at all." Bella Acker smiled.
"That’s good. This is your home, where in your own home would you feel uneasy." The old man said this, then his gaze reluctantly turned to Damian Sinclair beside him, and the friendly smile vanished, "You little rascal! Weren’t you supposed to sleep outside in the corridor last night? Who let you in the room? Did I agree to it?"
"Ms. Acker let me sleep in the room. You can ask her anything you want." Damian Sinclair effortlessly shifted the blame, keeping a straight face, and then went to the yard to play in the snow with Talia.
Bella Acker: "..." What’s this feeling of being betrayed by a trench-mate in an instant? President Sinclair, can’t you refrain from throwing the responsibility onto me so quickly?
Seeing the old man showing no favor towards Damian Sinclair, Bella Acker found it difficult to say it wasn’t her who let him in. Besides, she had actually been dragged into the room.
Silently grumbling about Damian Sinclair in her mind, Bella Acker stretched a smile, "Old man, President Sinclair has always been concerned about you. Because you haven’t forgiven him, he sleeps poorly and doesn’t enjoy his meals. Would you please forgive him for my sake, alright?"
"That rascal concerned about me? If he cared, I should have had a great-grandchild by now, not still worrying about him." The old man snorted as he glanced away, as if he didn’t even want to spare a glance in Damian Sinclair’s direction.
"It’s true." Bella Acker persisted. "Last night, President Sinclair talked to me about you; he mentioned how much you cared for him. Anyway, he said a lot. Old man, didn’t you say you’d stand up for me this time? So, for my sake, please forgive President Sinclair this once, how about it?"
"Young Acker, it’s not impossible for me to forgive him for your sake." The old man looked at her and seriously asked, "Have you forgiven him? If you’ve forgiven him, I’ll let him off this time."
Bella Acker paused, feeling a bit shy, lowered her gaze, and after a moment, softly said, "I never really blamed him."
"Young Acker, don’t let yourself be compelled to forgive this rascal just because you see me giving him a hard time." The old man advised, "Decide with your true feelings."
Bella Acker also looked at the old man, but this time her gaze didn’t avoid his, she spoke sincerely, "Old man, don’t worry, I won’t compromise myself."
"That’s more like it." The old man smiled, took her hand, and gently patted the back of her hand affectionately, "I’ll let this rascal off for your sake this time. If he bullies you again, just tell me, and I’ll stand up for you, don’t be afraid of him."
