Chapter 833: Chapter 832: Standing Up for the Granddaughter-in-law (18)
Bella Acker’s face flushed red as she pressed down on Damian Sinclair’s hand, refusing to let go.
Damian buried his face against her neck, sniffed lightly, and said, "Let me nuzzle a bit."
"No... no way." Bella tried to put on a stern face. "You’re soaked all over, go take a shower."
Damian sighed and let her go. "I don’t have any clothes to change into."
"You go shower, I’ll go find the housekeeper to get some for you." Bella immediately jumped down from the desk, pushed aside the curtain like she was fleeing, and ran out.
Damian leaned against the bookshelf, raising a hand to brace his forehead.
This stupid woman, after getting him all worked up, just walked off so irresponsibly. She wasn’t even worried about leaving him pent up and ruining their future sex life.
"Pfft." Damian suddenly let out a soft chuckle, the corners of his handsome mouth curving up in a faint, pleased arc.
He just leaned there against the little bookshelf and pulled out his phone to call the old master.
The phone had barely rung once before the old master picked up. "You little punk, how’d it go? Did Ms. Acker feel so sorry for you when she saw you looking so pathetic she could die from heartache?"
"More or less." Damian said, "She’s coming down to ask the old housekeeper for clothes. Have the housekeeper give her the key to my room directly. And hey, act a bit more natural—she’s only just taken the first step; I haven’t sealed the deal yet on my end, so don’t blow our cover."
"You little punk, as if I’d act worse than you." The old master snorted, but he sounded quite happy. "All right, I got it. You two turn in early—don’t you both have to work tomorrow!"
"Not going tomorrow." Damian said. "Talia’s never seen snow before. I’m taking her out to play in it tomorrow."
"Huh? You’re not leaving tomorrow? Good, good, good, I’ll have the housekeeper prepare more good food." Hearing that they’d both be staying over tomorrow, the old master’s mood lifted even more.
No matter how formidable someone once was, when they’re old they still hope to have more family around them.
"Baby likes my cooking. Have the housekeeper get more fresh ingredients ready tomorrow, I’ll cook."
"You little punk, finally know to feel for Young Acker, huh. I’m hanging up."
"Mm." Damian responded, then finally ended the call.
He lifted his head and looked at the fine, scattered snowflakes drifting in through the window, his eyes deep as an abyss.
No matter how many misgivings she still had in her heart, he was going to move closer step by step and take her hand again.
This time, he absolutely wouldn’t give her another chance to run.
"Since I’ve got so many rivals, shouldn’t I figure out a way to get the marriage certificate first?" Damian put his phone back in his pocket and started seriously thinking it through.
Bella Acker ran downstairs and went to the servants’ quarters to find the old housekeeper for the key.
"Ms. Acker, this is Young Master Sterling’s room key. Take it."
"Thank you, sir." Bella took the key and thanked him.
"Ah, Young Master Sterling really hasn’t had it easy. I’ve just been hoping he and the master can reconcile soon. Ms. Acker, you should hurry back. If the master asks, I’ll own up and say it was my mistake." The old housekeeper sighed. "As long as it helps the master and Young Master Sterling make up sooner, I’m willing to do anything."
Bella tightened her grip around the key in her hand.
The old housekeeper froze, seeming to realize what he’d just said, and quickly added, "Ms. Acker, don’t misunderstand. I’m not trying to force you to forgive Young Master Sterling. It’s just... watching the master and Young Master Sterling like this, it makes me feel bad."
"I understand, sir." Bella forced a little tug at the corner of her mouth. "I’ll think about it carefully. Good night."
