Chapter 828: Chapter 827: Supporting the Granddaughter-in-law (13)
Bella Acker knew that the old man actually cared a lot about Damian.
It was only to back her up and help her get justice that he treated him this way.
And standing between the two of them, as the cause of the matter, she couldn’t really stay out of it and watch the grandfather and grandson keep on arguing.
Especially since her heart...
"Old man..."
Bella Acker wanted to plead again, but the old man raised his hand, "Young Acker, I allowed this brat in because I saw you standing in the cold with him, but that’s as far as I can back down. It’s late, so after you drink the ginger soup, you should rest early. I’m going to bed too."
"Goodnight, old man." Bella Acker watched as the butler wheeled the old man away, then turned back to Damian, "Don’t you have a room here?"
"I do," Damian replied, "Upstairs."
"Young Master Sterling, Ms. Acker, please have some ginger soup to fend off the chill, so you won’t catch a cold tomorrow." A servant brought over two bowls of ginger soup.
"Much appreciated." Damian thanked them, handed one bowl of ginger soup to Bella Acker, and downed his own in one go.
The ginger soup was a bit spicy on the throat, but whatever else was in it made it sweet and not too bad to drink.
"Thank you." Bella Acker placed the bowl back on the tray, smiling as she expressed her gratitude.
"No need to be so polite, Ms. Acker. I’ll be heading down now. If you need anything, you can reach us by dialing the intercom to the servants’ quarters." The servant said this, then carried the empty bowls downstairs, quietly saying to another servant at the corner, "Ms. Acker and Young Master Sterling really look good together."
"Exactly, I think so too. They’re the perfect match of talent and beauty. I wonder why Ms. Acker doesn’t like our Young Master Sterling? Is it because he’s not appealing enough?"
"I think Ms. Acker probably likes our Young Lord Sterling too, but maybe there’s some sort of misunderstanding that hasn’t been cleared up yet. Otherwise, why would Ms. Acker go out in such cold weather to keep Young Master Sterling company? Plus, I saw Young Master Sterling holding Ms. Acker’s hand when they came in just now."
"Really? Then it’s surely not far off. Shouldn’t we start preparing in advance, like those things needed for a wedding?"
"I think it’s a good idea. Let’s go, let’s discuss this with the butler later. It’s not easy that Young Master Sterling is finally getting married."
These two thought they were discussing in hushed tones, but in the stillness of the night, this was a villa area, not the city center. The surroundings were so quiet you could hear the insects outside, so how could they not hear someone talking around the corner?
Bella Acker felt a bit speechless, looking at Damian, "Are all the servants in your house so considerate to think about the master’s family?"
"Most of the servants here have been with the old man for a long time. They’re either the original servants from the old man’s home or the sons and daughters of those servants, and the farthest descent are their relatives. They’ve been with The Sinclair Family for so long, many of them watched me grow up, so naturally they’re concerned about my life." Damian said, "Come on, just pretend you didn’t hear them, let’s go upstairs."
Bella Acker glanced at him sideways, "The old man told you to sleep outside the corridor."
"I’m not foolish." There was a hint of amusement in Damian’s eyes, "Let’s go upstairs and check on whether Talia is asleep."
Bella Acker rolled her eyes, and they went upstairs together.
In the pink-themed princess room, the little girl lay asleep in the warm, cozy bed.
Bella Acker gently brushed away the hair on the little girl’s cheek and leaned down to kiss her on the forehead.
