Chapter 795: Chapter 794: Favoritism Breaks Hearts

Sharon Cheney’s heart melted when she heard Talia say that.

"Oh my, our Talia is just so considerate." As she spoke, she leaned in and gave the little girl a kiss on the cheek.

The little girl giggled, and Ethan, walking beside her, softened his cool expression upon seeing her smile.

The five of them joyfully walked out of the neighborhood gate.

Damian Sinclair’s car was parked in a temporary spot near the gate, and Bella Acker released the little girl’s hand, letting her get in the car with Ethan first.

Sharon Cheney went around to get in, following them.

The back seat was full, so Bella had to sit in the front passenger seat. Just as she was about to get in, she suddenly stopped.

Aunt Rhodes got out of a car and looked at her, hesitant to speak.

Bella bent down and said to the others, "Wait for me a moment." Then she closed the passenger door and walked over.

"Bella..." Aunt Rhodes looked at Bella, then glanced at Damian Sinclair, who was waiting by the car.

"Aunt Rhodes, is there something you needed to see me about today?" Bella asked, glancing at the car behind Aunt Rhodes.

Aunt Rhodes also looked back before saying, "Bonnie is receiving medical records today, so I didn’t bring him. Bella, I didn’t think through the house purchase last time, and I didn’t expect Shirley to react so strongly when she found out. I’ve spoiled her since she was little, and she’s possessive. She thought... she thought you were going to take me away from her, so she was a bit emotional. I just learned about what happened online, I’m sorry Bella, I didn’t expect Shirley to do something so extreme to hurt you. No matter how you look at it, this happened because I didn’t think it through, I..."

Bella interrupted her, "Aunt Rhodes, you don’t need to apologize to me for Shirley Caldwell."

"Bella, I’m sorry," Aunt Rhodes immediately said. "I promise nothing like this will happen again, and I’ve had a good talk with her about the photo incident - she won’t bother you anymore."

Hearing this, Bella suddenly found it a bit amusing.

"Aunt Rhodes, I’m a public figure. If I don’t have any evidence to refute those photos online, I might not be able to act anymore in the future. Shirley Caldwell did this entirely to ruin my life," Bella said with a smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes. "She wants to ruin my life. If we switched places now, if I were your daughter of over twenty years, and she was the biological daughter who had barely lived with you, what would you do? Would you still lightly take all the blame for her and come to me to apologize, hoping for my forgiveness? Or, to put it another way, if I wanted to ruin Shirley Caldwell’s life, could you still do what you’re doing now?"

Aunt Rhodes was at a loss for words, blocked by what Bella said.

Even with biological children raised beside oneself, there’s always favoritism to some extent. Let alone when one was raised with you and the other is, apart from blood ties, essentially a stranger of over twenty years. Such favoritism, even if she hadn’t thought deeply about it or cared deliberately, ultimately showed she instinctively sided with one when the situation arose.

That’s why Bella wasn’t interested in reconnecting or reconnecting much with Aunt Rhodes, knowing she had a new family and children.

If they’ve been strangers for over twenty years, they might as well stay strangers. There’s no need to seek trouble for oneself.
