Chapter 778 - 777: Threat
Chapter 778: Chapter 777: Threat
Judy Zimmerman unbuckled her seatbelt and said, "Bella, you stay in the car. I’ll get out and take a look."
Bella Acker held her hand and said to the driver, "Driver, what’s going on? Has the road-blocking car moved?"
"The road-blocking car hasn’t moved at all; it’s still parked in front of us." The driver honked the horn, but the car blocking the way didn’t budge.
"Then move to the lane beside us," Bella Acker suggested.
"Sure, okay." The driver responded and started to switch to the lane beside them. However, as soon as they moved a little, the car in front moved a little as well.
It was now clear that the car in front was deliberately causing trouble.
The driver, now irritated, stopped the car, opened the door, and angrily stepped out, shouting, "Hey, what’s your problem? Don’t you know how to drive?"
"Bella, you stay in the car. I’ll get out and see what’s happening too," Judy Zimmerman insisted as she tried to open the door.
"Don’t rush. It’s obvious that the other side is looking for trouble. Let’s first see what’s going on. If you, a girl, get out, what if something happens?" Bella Acker said, immediately taking out her phone to call the police.
Judy Zimmerman suggested, "It’s likely we encountered some local thugs trying to force us to pay money."
"If they really wanted money, they should’ve gotten out of their car when they blocked us, but they didn’t. I’m worried it’s not just about thugs extorting money," Bella Acker frowned. "Let’s wait for the driver to confront them first, then we’ll decide what to do."
The driver was a tall man, about six feet tall, and on the heavier side, his robust build making him somewhat intimidating.
Judy Zimmerman nodded, and they both waited in the car.
Since they already called the police, they weren’t afraid if the other party tried to drag things out.
The driver shouted a few times, and finally, the car in front opened a door.
Four men wearing puffer jackets and knit caps that covered their faces got out of the car.
From their build and clothing, they were all men, and each held a baseball bat in their hands.
The sight startled the driver a bit, and he started to back away, asking, "What... what do you want?"
But the four masked men ignored him completely, walking straight past him towards their car.
Seeing the men approach, Judy Zimmerman instantly leaned forward a little to shield Bella Acker.
Bella Acker frowned, feeling a bit tense, but she didn’t panic.
She quickly took out her phone to take pictures of the four men, then lifted her phone to snap a couple of photos of the car in front, trying to capture its license plate as best she could before putting her phone away.
The four men reached the car, raised their baseball bats, and started smashing the car window recklessly!
Both Judy Zimmerman and Bella Acker were shocked. Were they being directly robbed?
"Bang!"
The front passenger window shattered, and Judy Zimmerman shouted, "We’ve already called the police, what do you think you’re doing?!"
But the four men kept ignoring her, continuing to smash the car with their bats.
"Bang!" The rear window on Bella Acker’s side shattered as well, and it started with Judy Zimmerman’s side.
Bella Acker quickly used her upper body to shield Judy Zimmerman’s head. Though her fingers trembled with nervous fear, her voice remained calm, "The police will be here soon. You better leave!"
"Oh, we’re so scared!" taunted the man who locked eyes with Bella Acker, raising his baseball bat again and fiercely smashing it against the car door.
"Thud!" A loud crash followed, making the whole car tremble.
Bella Acker protected Judy Zimmerman, and both their bodies shook with the impact.
