Chapter 419: Baroness’ Blood Rush

  • Next Chapter

[Unique Spell:- Baroness’ Blood Rush

After a life time of a frail and hopeless body, finally you have discovered the perfect way to push it to its absolute limits, even if it is not the body you wish it was. You are also no stranger to pain, accepting it and using it to empower yourself, feeding off of it yet not letting it drag you down into the pits of insanity or mindless bloodlust, no matter how much it calls to you.

But even if it is everything you had hoped for, you know that strength will always come at a price.

Effects:- All physical attributes increased by 100%. Bonus will increase with extended use, as well as damage taken while in the Blood Rush state, but so will the familiar backlash. Limits exist for a reason. ]

Belladonna glanced over the description of the spell and smiled wickedly to herself, before leaning her head to the side.

A beam of searing white light shot passed her, not even clipping so much as a single hair on her head this time.

Before the beams were nearly impossible to track, nevermind dodge. But now, she could see them. They weren’t crawling across the skies, but they weren’t impossibly fast either. They were manageable, and that was all that mattered.

Steam curled off her exposed skin and poured from her loose clothing, as crimson lightning crackled between her tight and heavily defined muscles that were brimming with power. If she had a mirror, she would be checking to see if her hair had changed colour, for some reason that just felt right.

A feeling that her improved stats absolutely reflected. It had been a while since she actually looked at her stats, beyond just idly dumping points into everything but her dump stat, ironically enough.

They were already massive with her level increase, but with this bonus they were inconceivable, and that was before it started to increase.

It was just a shame, judging by the totals in the brackets, that her Blood absorption bonuses were not taken into account when calculating the increase, as it seemed to only take her base stats. But those stats were already high enough to begin with, this was more than enough to give her a fighting chance against this beast.

A dozen pure white lasers erupted from the Shark’s glimmering body, which was actually moving in slow motion in Belladonna’s enhanced and full throttle perception. Her eyes darted back and forth, drinking in the intricate web of deadly lasers as they spread across the blood red sky, cutting it into a thousand different pieces as they reflected off of the dozens of fish that were happily swimming through the air.

Each reflection was impossible to predict, with some of them splitting off into two smaller and weaker beams that further bounced off their own fish.

If she hadn’t been able to see them like this, it was likely that Belladonna would have been reduced to nothing more than a pile of sizzling meat cubes on the floor. But she could see them, and she could dodge them.

A lean to the left dodged the first, a duck let the second fly clean over her head, before she spun to the right to dodge a pair that came from in front and behind in an attempt to pincer her.

Then, she was off. Bursting forwards, this time without kicking up a mound of dirt as not a single blade of grass could be harmed in the slightest, as she rocketed across the open field. She slipped between beams, flipping over ones that suddenly crossed her path and slid under others.

When she came to a turn, she didn’t try to stop. She simply activated her Air Skates and took this into the third dimension, using her momentum to glide around the turn and skate into the sky.

She was like a lone fighter pilot, dodging a barrage of artillery whilst battling in a deadly dog fight. Her body weaving through the lasers in positions that would have been impossible for her previously, as not only did her increased agility boost her speed, but her flexibility.

She might not have been able to turn into a shadow, but she became as fluid as one. Changing her shape constantly to adapt to the smaller gaps that were being left by the constantly tightening web of lasers, as the Shark kept blasting off more and more, not waiting for the first wave to finish before it started the second.

But better than the Strength that gave her speed, or the Agility that gave her the flexibility that even an Olympic Gymnast would be jealous of, was the perception.

At this level, it was as if she had eyes on the back of her head. She could feel the shift in the temperature of the air, and tell where the lasers were without even looking at them.

Belladonna couldn’t count the times that she had been saved from a beam in her blind spot by these incredible senses, which even included an enhanced sense of spacial perception that allowed her to judge those tiny gaps to slip through.

And as much as she hated to admit it, her resistance stat did so something when she couldn’t perfectly fit through those gaps. It let her get burned just a little less, but only a little. Even if her resistance was on the same level as her other stats, which it couldn’t be as that was how she got these stats so high, the lasers would still cleave clean through her.

They were just on another level like that.

But in the end, as her breathing starting to grow ragged and her tense, steamy muscles started to twitch from overexertion, Belladonna didn’t need to worry herself about being able to tank a direct hit or even survive until the Shark got tired.

All she needed to wait for was Figg. It was just a shame she had to wait longer, at least it felt that way thanks to her increased perception slowing everything down.

Although, it did mean that when the bamboo potion vial came hurtling through the web of lasers, that Belladonna was more than ready for it.

She snatched it out of the air and immediately changed course, shooting through the air straight towards the shark at the middle of the fatal web of deadly lasers. At the same time, she stabbed her dagger into the Bamboo Vial, coating her blade in the venom that it was filled with.

She hooked her legs around the Sharks neck, ignoring the teeth that were barely tearing into her most precious area, and gave her dagger a new home deep in the Shark’s beady and soulless blade eye.

It screeched in pain, writhing in an attempt to get her off and dislodge the blade. But its efforts were all for naught, as its eye was already turning to pure, white bone, as were the scales surrounding it as they finally lost their lustre and the deadly reflective glimmer.
